I was attracted by the long queue when I pass by this stall hence I decided to give it a try. One unique thing about this stall is their own-made sambal belachan which is very SHIOK !
The owner also use thin bee hoon together with the yellow noodles. What I like about the thin bee hoon is that it fully absorbed the goodness of the prawn stock hence very delicious. Ingredients such as prawns and sotong are all very fresh too.
I ordered the $5 version as I am sharing with my mum and overall is a must try for all Hokkien mee lovers !

Generally a Hokkien mee lover and am on the hunt to find the best hokkien mee in town (personal preference).

Tried Tiong Bahru Yi Sheng Fried Hokkien Mee at ABC market for dinner yesterday. Just the queue itself was already 20 mins! People packing packets and packets of hokkien mee in front of me. And personally i like their idea of packing the noodles in those brown colour type of paper as it will retain the broth and the moisture of the dish.

The Noodles:
Their noodles is not much like the kind of Hokkien mee i like( the wet type) but this stall is amazing as their noodles is the soggy kind which i dont get to eat it after my secondary school years! The beansprouts is basically so soggy that you dont even have to chew on the sprouts to swallow!
Another point i like about the noodles is that they use thin been hoon instead of the thick bee hoon that most of the stalls in singapore uses. As thin bee hoon would absorb the broth better compared to the thick ones, so it will somehow 'burst' when you chew them.

The Chilli:
Definitely one of the best chilli i have tasted for hkm. The stall owner actually fried the belachan with 'hei bi' before serving it.

As the saying goes; good things are worth the wait.

Another selling point of its prawn mee, was its home-made sambal belachan. They were sticked together and placed at the side of the place with a lime. This is also one of the reason that keeps the customers coming. Its shiokness is hard to put down in words but I can say that despite the spiciness, one still could not resist to have more of it!

All in all, this is one of the best plate of Hokkien Mee in singapore. There was a chinese newspaper cutting hung outside the stall saying that the stall owner's son did not want to learn the art of flying the hokkien mee and the trade could be lost when the boss retires.

I love hawker centre food as it feels really homely and this is definitely one that reminds me of my grandma's cooking. The noodles were not clumpy and I like that it was soft and chewy. From $3 onwards (I think till $6/7) you can get this plate of yummy hokkien mee serving by a friendly uncle/auntie [the uncle cooks and the auntie gets the orders]. The noodle is really fragrant and they are not stingy about giving the squid or the prawns! I also especially love the chili as its very distinct and you can taste the belachan flavour. I only wished that they gave more bean sprouts!

Other than that, this dish was absolutely incredible.

Thumbs up!

I can never resist fried hokkien mee. In fact, I think it may be my favourite local dish. Read many reviews that this stall serves great hokkien mee so I decided to give it a try. Indeed, it was good! I like that this stall uses the thin white bee hoon instead of the thick kind. The noodles were very soft and perfectly infused with the prawns broth. The squid was also soft and chewy. Writing this makes me want to eat it again! The sambal chili and the lime made the whole dish more fragrant and d

When I went down to ABC Food Centre for lunch today, I was surprised to see no queue in front of Yi Sheng Hokkien Mee. After all I had the impression that the length of the queue is somewhat proportional to the standard of the food.

The delicious noodles are thoroughly fried in mouthwatering prawn broth with a delightful charcoal aroma and flavorful taste. The distinguishing factor in Yi Sheng's Hokkien Mee is its special homemade chilli which is fabulously savory and extremely complementary to the noodles.

Somehow I feel that Yi Sheng fried hokkien mee resembles Geylang Lor 29's in terms of taste and consistency, although Yi Sheng is less oily and more tasty. Compared with Kim's, I still feel that Kim's is much better in terms of culinary skills.

Came here for dinner and we were eagered to order some of the famous food that were popular at this food centre and this fried hokkien noodle was one of them. We were rather disappointed when we tasted it as it was not as good as before and obviously the standard dropped. Somehow the taste was bland. Probably they had too many orders and that was why and hopefully the next time when we try again, it will be good.

One of the most famous fried hokkien prawn mee in Singapore. The stall is operated by a couple and both of them are very friendly and nice. I always come here to eat fried hokkien prawn mee at least once a month. Their ingredients are very fresh and they are very skillful in frying their hokkien prawn mee. The texture of their prawn mee was very moist with nice fried pork lard taste. Very nice. You should try too.

A fried recommended me to try this fried hokkien prawn mee. The noodles braised nicely in the prawn stock and tasted flavourful. The chilli is a little spicer and very nice, quite different from other stalls. The smallest portion is $3.00 and quite good for 1 person. The assistant is very friendly and nice, very good service provided. I will come back again.

Their chilli is easily one of the better ones out there. The taste of the dried prawns and ikan belis can be clearly tasted. I suppose this must be part of the secret recipe handed down from the 1st generation as this stall has been around for at least 40 years.

The noodle was well braised in the flavorful prawn stock to give it a nice softness. So, if you like your noodle to be al dente then this might not be your kind of fried hokkien prawn mee.

All in all, it was a satisfactory experience.

We saw quite a few people queuing up for the hokkien mee from this stall and decided to queue for it as well. The portion we got was the $3 portion, but the largest plate was at $8 if I am not mistakened. I love mixing the noodles with their home-made belachan chilli. One of the best plate of hokkien mee I have had for a long time.
