Full review and pics on http://dairycream.blogspot.sgTip Top is not a new name to many Singaporeans, especially those who lived in Ang Mo Kio area. Famous for its "tip top" curry puff, it has now launched an all-new Nyonya Beef Rendang ($1.40) curry puff, created from a home recipe by simmering beef with spices for long hours.  It was sheer joy tucking into the new Beef Rendang because the meat is soft and not too dry, with a tantalizing subtle sweetness that is not usually found in curry puffs.

Across all three types of curry puff, the ratio of filling to skin was perfect, but the quality of the pastry skin wielded less clout among the curry puffs specialists in Singapore. Even after trying to toast or microwave them, the pastry skin remained soft and pliable, yet achieving its full potential of crisp and flakiness. ........

At first plan to order curry puff, but need to wait at least an hour as it is sold out. So in the end order a tofu cheese stick which costs $1.80. It tastes like fish cake with melted cheese flowing. But not crispy. Feel more like something straight from the supermarket.

First of all, the curry puff is well deep fried, have a very nice golden brown colour and there is not sign of any oil. As for the fillings, the potato is well seasoned with a mild turmeric flavour, have a slightly spicy taste as compared to old chang kee and also have a quarter sliced of the hard-boiled egg in it. Lastly, the size of the curry puff is much smaller as compared to old chang kee but it still retains a crispy crust even after leaving for an hour after buying it. Price wise is around $1.30 if I am not wrong.  [Review from mobile]

With a price increase, somehow, the size of the curry puff has shrunk slightly. Ironic.

Crisp crust while the inside was full of moist mashed potatoes, chicken chunks, egg with spices. But it was not as fragrant as before. Standard has dropped? Remember, how I mentioned in my previous posts that one could smell the curry puff from afar. You can literally smell your way to the shop if you can't locate it. Now, you would not be able to do that - no more of that wonderfully aroma (smell).

Detailed review and photos: http://foodiefc.blogspot.sg/2013/02/tip-top-curry-puff-ang-mo-kio-revisit.html

Ps: I found out subsequently that Tip Top owner has sold their business and reopen another one called AMK Curry Puff at Toa Payoh Central. (http://foodiefc.blogspot.sg/2013/08/amk-curry-puff-toa-payoh-central.html)

Famous curry puff in Ang Mo Kio area! The curry puff may be small in size but full of ingredients inside. Every bite, there will be chicken... as for the potato, they are chopped into small pieces, covered evenly with the curry. The crust skin was not thick, just nice There was half of the egg inside too! The curry puffs are freshly made in their back kitchen.

I'm just so glad that this stall is located at a convenient location for me. Their curry puff is great for all occasions and sometimes even when i'm nearby and just want to munch on something, i just pop by to get one for myself. Yummy!Despite a price increase over the years, business still seems good for them. I guess when your food is good, there's no way to stop anyone from getting it. Their filling are actually quite generous with the potatoes, chicken, fragrance of the curry powder seasoning. The skin may not be thin kind but the buttery texture does appeal to me! It's very satisfying indeed =)

It's one of the oldest shops I know that survives just by making these sinful morsels. The yam option.I used to always only order the chicken option. It's a lot heavier on spices than that of OCK's curry puff. So those who like their spices would be fans of this. But then I decided to give their yam a go.It was nice but it clashed too much with their thick savoury skin so there was a awkward marriage of tastes unlike the taro pie at BK.There's also a promotion for their new pumpkin offering. Buy 5 get the pumpkin at $1.But the pumpkin mash was too sweet to be savoured. literally.

Have bought a dozen of their signature curry puffs for a family outing at the Jurong Bird Parks. All my family members love it, except for the younger ones who cannot really take the spicyness of it does not really like it. The potato curry inside is very fragrant and are not too oily. If you like those more spicy version, Tip Top will be suitable for you. Moreover, the puff's pastry is also very crispy and tasty as well. At less than two dollars per piece, this is definitely a good buy for

Just by looking at its appearance, you may think this is just another curry puffs which you can easily get anywhere near you. But once you have the first bites of it, you will be sure to crave for more. The pastry is fillled with the fragrant from the butter used in making it. The curry potato filling is not too dry or too wet, just at the right texture. It is not too spicy and great for all age groups. The chicken meat in it is also quite tender and chewy too.

One of the most delicious curry puffs in Singapore. This is a familiar taste that i have grown up with. My mother used to buy it for me when i was little more than a decade ago. The filling of curry potato, chunky chicken pieces and boiled egg are the perfect combination to a curry puff. They fried it well with their special curry spices to make it a very unique taste that you do not get it anywhere else. Though they rasied their prices a few times and i am still their fan.

love the curry puffs here. especially love that they have egg in it! one of the places i regularly buy curry puffs from. very fragrant and the pastry is amazingly strong and does not crumble or fall apart easily at all. the filling is a mix of potatoes and meat, which is very well balanced. the spice level is just right. however, not sure about the orangey tinge of the pastry. the pastry doesn't taste like spice but it is orangey. service is fast and efficient and polite. recommended!

Tip Top curry puffs are one of my flavourite curry puffs. The outer crust is very crispy, thick and fragrant. The curry fillings in the puffs are very generous which includes diced potatoes, diced chicken cubes, lots of Indian spices and dried curry sauce in it. At only one dollar and thirty cents per piece, it is an ideal snack and also a lighter food for lunch and dinner. The curry puffs is so fragrant that you can even smell it far from the stall before you step in to make the purchase.
