Claypot noodle with chicken OK Feb 02, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean | Food Court | Hawker Centre

Noticed that there was a change to the menu of the shop and decided to give it a try. There was a variety to choose from, there were claypot chicken rice, claypot noodles, claypot rice with pork etc. I ordered the claypot noodles with fish fillet but was given chicken instead, i took it as i was also fine with chicken and i didnt want to wait any longer as i was hungry. The noodles was in thick gravy, and came with fried chicken pieces and a fried egg. The gravy was quite flavourful but slightly too oily, which i guess it was attributed to the fried chicken being soaked in it. The fried chicken wasn't fresh, tasted like it was fried much beforehand. The egg was well-cooked, the texture of the egg yolk was just right and tasted good with the sauce. Overall, i think the dish is average, though it looks really delicious (see picture below).

Din tai fung Smile Jan 24, 2012

Categories : Dim Sum

Yea, finally a chance to eat the xiao long bao at Din Tai Fung. even though this was not the first time i am eating at here. But the feeling to be back is always as new as the first time i patronized. This is because the xiao long bao here never failed to let me down, as i can gobble up one whole basket of 10 Xiao long bao when i am hungry chopstickbowl But i shall not be greedy this time, as i ordered and shared it with my sister.lol If you read up the menu, at the last page of the menu, it stated that, each and every xiao long bao has eighteen layers. after a count on few of the ten, it is true that each and every xiao long bao did has eighteen layers to seal up. And if you manage to find one without, i think they will give you one free basket something like that. smile hehe....so try to count bah

juicy xiao long bao Smile Nov 21, 2011

My girlfriend and I went to din tai fung for dinner. It has been awhile since we ate din tai fung. I remembered the last time I ate was when we were in taipei for holiday. The standard of this branch food is somewhat comparable to that of taipei’s. the xiao long bao is very juicy, the soup is very tasty, the skin is not too thick yet the xiao long bao does not burst when you use chopstick the grab it. when you dip in vinegar, it is really very delicious!

Chilled Prime Ocean Platter Smile Aug 05, 2011

The interesting part about dining in Morton's is that the waitress would appear and introduce herself as well as the food to us. The service was good and I thought the atmosphere would be too noisy for a romantic date. Good for company gathering or friends chill out.
Bun

Bun

The entire experience started with a huge bun. If you know how big 933 curry chicken bun is, this is the size except that there's absolutely nothing in it. Good to be shared among 4 pax.
Ocean Platter

Ocean Platter

For starters, we ordered the Prime Ocean Platter. This is what I call all good food on one plate! Shrimps, crabs, lobster, oysters all in one big platter. They are really fresh and well serve chilled on a huge platter. The prawns are huge compared to those you eat in normal seafood restaurants. S$88 for 2 pax, S$175 for 3-4 pax, S$255 for 5-6 pax.
Colossal Shrimp Cocktail

Colossal Shrimp Cocktail

Coming up next, we had the Colossal Shrimp Alexander. These fellas are big..I mean huge! They can even be mistaken as doughnuts in disguise. Succulent and not overly done. Best part is that they remove the shells for you. Keeps you coming back for more. S$40 for 4 shrimps.
Oysters on the Half Shell

Oysters on the Half Shell

As if not enough of seafood, we proceeded with the Oysters on the Half Shell. These fellas are fresh. One bite and you can't stop. I love it with lemon juice freshly squeezed and a few drops of tobasco sauce. S$36 for half dozen.
Jumbo Lump Crab Cake

Jumbo Lump Crab Cake

The Jumbo Lump Crabmeat Cocktail is something we regretted ordering. I can't really taste much crabmeat in it. There is but not enough to make it a good dish. S$37
Lobster Tail, Cold Water

Lobster Tail, Cold Water

For main course, I ordered the Lobster Tail. It is yummy. There's something about Western Aussie lobster that I can't point out. They seems to taste better than lobsters from any other countries. Either I'm bias or it's just the way the lobster is being cooked. This perfectly done lobster tail is to die for. As a seafood lover, I couldn't resist putting it into my mouth at first sight....and then you start to put more into your mouth...within second, you would be asking for a second helping. Yes, it is THAT nice!
Raspberry Souffle

Raspberry Souffle

Ended the dinner with Raspberry Souffle. Best souffle I have ever tasted. It doesn't look appealing but the taste is heavenly. 4 different flavors to choose from: Chocolate, Raspberry, Grand Marnier and Lemon. I have chosen the Raspberry. I can have 5 of them at one go and I'm not kidding. A good way to end a meal.
Pesquera

Pesquera

To quench our thirst besides feeding our hungry stomach, we had the Pesquera. Ordered 5 of these and got more than we bargained for. We got tipsy too!!

Spending per head: Approximately $400(Dinner)
