Value-for-Money Lunch Set Smile Dec 31, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Restaurant | Omakase

Heard from my colleague that Epachi serve value-for-money lunch sets and decided to give it a shot together with my partner. Epachi is a Japanese restaurant that generally specializes in omakase though they do serve set lunch too. For lunch, you could either have the half omakase @ $68 or a choice of 8 different lunch sets. I had the tempura set while my partner had the saba set. The tempura set consisted of 2 pieces of pork & chicken each, a prawn and an oyster. The pork and chicken was fried in such a way it was crispy and remain moist and tender on the inside without being oily. Definitely stands out from the other Japanese restaurants that tends to over-fry their tempura causing the meat to be dry. For my partner, the serving of the saba was fresh and very generous. The set lunch cost around $24 and each set typically consists of 2 small appertizer, a salad, rice (sprinkled with salmon flakes), miso soup and desert of the day (a slice of rock melon). Definitely very value-for-money for the quality and quantity of food served. Service staff was attentive and he kept ensuring our cup of green tea was always full. Would definitely return back but this time to try the popular omakase! smile

Dinner at Itacho Sushi Smile Jan 17, 2013

The restaurant have a very welcoming design with a strong Japanese theme and accessories to give a much Japanese feel to the customers. But the seats are actually quite limited and one thing I found it bad is that the staff do not really helps you to refill your tea automatically at all. I will need to ask for refill a few times before they will refill our drinks which I felt disappointed about the restaurant.
Cold Udon @$4.20

This dish is just normal for me, nothing special as I still prefer the one selling at Kazokutei.
Fatty Salmon (Salmon Belly) @$5.10

Fatty Salmon (Salmon Belly) @$5.10

This is one dish which I felt worth the money spend, the sashimi is very fresh and the tender of the Salmon belly is one of the best I have eaten so far.
Roasted Salmon Roll @$3.80

Roasted Salmon Roll @$3.80

Fresh salmon are being roasted using a strong gas fire which made it a bit cooked on the outer layer of the meat but still having that nice texture of Salmon sashimi feel. Nice dish indeed.
Avocado With Crab Meat Salad @$6.30

Avocado With Crab Meat Salad @$6.30

Slices of Avocado mixed with lettuce, crab meat, cherry tomato and egg topped with some mayonnaise. Not a bad dish and actually if they used some fat free salad sauce would be better.

Comparatively Good Chicken Rice. Smile Mar 06, 2013

Chicken Rice.

Chicken Rice.

I have heard so much about this chicken rice stall. I made an effort to come by just to try it. A basic plate of chicken rice is at $3. The serving of chicken was rather generous with crunchy cucumber. The rice was flavourful and fragrant as well as fluffy and grainy. The chicken tasted decent. It was tender with its juiciness still intact. Their chilli has a nice hint of spiciness that complemented the rice and chicken rather well.
The Stall.

The Stall.

I felt their standard is in comparison to their competitor just a few stalls away. This is therefore a good alternative as their queue is relatively shorter and service is quicker.

Here are some food my friends have taken for the bbq. It was nice as it is a buffet we can take all we want with a prize. So i took lots of pork and chicken. It was fun bbqing the pork and and chicken. I took the prawn too. Some of my friend also wrap the pork into the vegetable. There are many choices so everyone can eat till full. It is suitable for the halal so you can bring all the malay here.

This is some of the korean decoration.
