FOOD

Egg tarts
Love their egg tarts! It has a crispy and fragrant crust and the egg has a smooth texture.

Custard Buns
As a fan of custard bun, I'm very picky in how it actually tastes like. So their custard bun taste good, with the "lava" leaking out from the bun as you take the first bite. But it's a bit too sweet.

Fried Carrot Cake with XO sauce
The XO sauces taste rather good and enhances the taste of the carrot cake.

Xiao Long Bao
There's a lot of "soup" in it, and the outer skin is thick enough to prevent any leak.

Chilled Mango Cream with Pomelo and Sago topped with Ice-cream served in Mini Coconut
My all-time favourite in Tung Lok Signature! Awesome!

Indonesian Curry Prawn - $45
The curry is a little oily, but the gravy still taste great. It has a thick curry paste and the fragrance of the curry leaves, and leaves your taste buds burning. Taste great when eaten with the fresh prawns.

Fried CodFish with special sauce - $15 per pax
My favourite dish of the day! The CodFish is crispy and is a perfect combination when dipped with the sauce. A unique and awesome creation!

AMBIENCE
I love the ambience in this branch as the restaurant faces Sentosa, and one can sit back and admire the beautiful scenery of Sentosa on a lazy weekend as you savor the food.

PRICE
Though not the finest dinning among the other Tung Lok Group Restaurant, it's still considered high class dining and it's considered pricey.

Fine Dining  Smile Jul 04, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

As a huge fan of paradise group, was curious to try their fine dining menu..

FOOD

Slice of Cod Fish with fruits in sour sauce (Appetizer)
I was awed by their appetizer. A slice of Cod Fish! We know that Cod Fish are generally more valuable than the rest of the fish, but they are generous enough to serve it as their appetizer. Great taste. Unique appetizer indeed.

Herbal Chicken Soup
Thick herbal soup with strong fragrance of all the herbal ingredients. Nourishing!

Beijing Roasted Duck
The duck's skin is cripsy and fragrant, and blends in well with the dark sauce, onions, and sugar. Bravo!

Braised TouFu with Crabmeat
The TouFu is crispy on the outside but soft and smooth inside. With the sweet-salty gravy, it makes the dish even more appealing.

Prawn with Salted Egg York
I came to realize that all salted egg york of paradise group taste the same. Crispy and full of egg!

Deep-fried Durian Ice-cream with mango puree
This is one of the rare desserts I've seen so far. Fried Durian Ice-cream! It's quite crispy, and tastes extremely good when eaten together with the mango puree.

Steamed Mashed Taro with Almond Cream in Young Coconut
A mixture of yam paste and almond cream. Taste good. But the almond cream is too thick such that it covered the fragrance of the yam.

Chilled Mango Puree with Sago and Pomelo topped with Coconut Ice-cream
A normal mango puree with Sago and Pomelo desert, but the added coconut ice-cream definitely enhances its taste!

AMBIENCE
The ambience is awesome. Our seat was just next to the window seat where we can catch a glimpse of the Marina Bay. It's an ideal dining place during National Day or New Year's Day where one can see the fireworks! Their internal furnishings is also quite impressive. Soft and comfortable seat.

SERVICE
Their service is also quite good. They will recommend you their signature dishes according to your budget. Fast and efficient in clearing dishes away.

Delicious laksa Smile Jun 29, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Fusion | Restaurant | Noodles | Kids-Friendly

Decided to try their laksa on my 2nd visit to Laksania...

FOOD

Singapore laksa

The soup has a thick paste of laksa, and proportionate amount of coconut that gives the laksa its awesome taste. The ingredients in the laksa are quite ordinary though, like: fish cake, tau pok and egg.

Chicken Satay with laksa sauce

Instead of the normal satay sauce, laksania has its own laksa sauce specially for satay lovers! The thick laksa sauce has a good amount of laksa paste and coconut which gives rise to the well-blended sauce, and goes well with the fragrantly-grilled satay.

OVERALL
It's one of the cheapest restaurants in NEX compared to other eateries. Also, it's not so crowded like the rest, very ideal for people who prefer quiet places. A restaurant worth dining in, especially for laksa fans!

Set Meal @ $39.90 Smile Jun 26, 2013
Categories : Chinese | Hotel | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Seafood

So Ah Yat Restaurant was having a 8 dish set meal promotion at $39.90 per pax.

FOOD

The Menu for the set meal

Deep Fried Squid Roll and Toast Roll

The set meal started off with the appetizer, squid and toast roll. It's quite crispy and crunchy and tastes good with the mayonnaise sauce.

Double-boiled Fish Maw with Tianshan Snow Lotus

The herbal soup was quite bland, but one can taste the fragrance of those herbals ingredients. Nourishing soup for the body, I would say!

Stewed Whole Fresh Abalone with Japanese Mushroom and Kale

The MAIN dish of the day - Abalone! The gravy is especially tantalizing, and fits in perfectly with the abalone, mushroom and kale. A little salty, but taste just right

Deep-Fried Fish Fillet with honey pepper

The sweet thai chili sauce brings out the crispiness and sweetness of the fish fillet. Awesome!

Baked Boston Lobster with Superior Stock

Another MAIN dish of the day - Lobster. The freshness and the baked fragrance together with the tantalizing gravy brings out the awesome taste of the lobster. My favourite dish of all in the set menu!

Braised E-fu noodle

Like any other E-fu noodles served in other restaurants, it's quite ordinary.

Double-boiled Bird Nest with Almond juice

A herbal and healthy desert. Bird nest with almond. The almond paste was thick enough and taste just so great together with the bird nest. A nourishing dish for the skin!

SERVICE

I've always love the service in Ah Yat Restaurant. The service staffs are very polite to the customers, and will also engage in small talks to interact with the customer, ensuring that we are well and the dishes are served promptly.

AMBIENCE

It's quite quiet and peaceful. There are 2 floors. Customers can request to dine on the second storey if they prefer a more tranquil environment to dine in.

Dining in Paradise  Smile Jun 20, 2013
Categories : Fujian/Heng Hwa | Chinese | Restaurant | Seafood | Kids-Friendly

Having craving for some chinese cuisine, I stepped into Paradise Inn at NEX Shopping Centre. After battling the queue for about half an hour, I finally have the chance to rest my legs after a long day....

Food

Crisp-Fried Crystal Prawns with Salted Egg Yolk

My all-time favourite in paradise's group restaurant. The proportion of the egg yolk is just right when fried with the prawn, such that both compliment each other and result in taste explosion!

Seafood Fried Rice

The usual seafood fried rice, but the fragrance is overwhelming and irresistible!

Crispy Toufu with special sauce

I like the combination of a crispy Toufu being immersed in a special sauce such that fits so perfectly on my tastebuds when eaten together with the Tofu.

AMBIENCE
It is quite busy and noisy on a Friday evening. Be there early if you want to avoid the queue or choose your seats.

SERVICE
They are generally quite efficient and good.
