Wanton Noodle Smile Jan 30, 2012
Categories : Malaysian | Hawker Centre | Noodles

The surrounding of this Hawker centre was under construction. It was quite crowded because it was dinner time. Long queues were seen in front of quite a number of the popular stores. I had no idea what to eat so I let my hubby made the choice.

As excepted, he bought his favourite Pontian Wanton Noodle. I didn't realise there was a branch here. I have always been eating at the one in the Hawker centre opposite West Coast Plaza.
Hmm. Taste similar to the other one. QQ noodle, spicy chilli, crispy wantons. There was even one boiled type wanton in the soup. Great meal.smile

Lovely Ambience Smile Jan 30, 2012

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Sichuan | Dim Sum | BBQ

This was the second time we came here. We thought we were lucky when we saw empty lots outside the restaurant. After we parked the car, a guy at the entrance told us that the parking lots was meant for the valet parking. Not feeling like swifting the car, we paid him the $3 parking fee to park there.
The Restaurant

The Restaurant

This was another of those restaurant converted from old bungalow. Very nicely decorated. Quite and peaceful.
The Menu

The Menu

The set lunch menu looked good except for the pork. We requested to exchange the dish for either a chicken or fish dish, but they suggested the beef steak.
Sichuan Hot and Sour Soup

Sichuan Hot and Sour Soup

The soup was served first. It was lovely. I have always loved this Sichuan soup. It was spicy but not too sour. It has lots of ingredients in it. The chicken slices gave it an additional texture.
三味色香点心

The fried beancurd with prawn fillings was very crispy with a generous portion of prawns. The siew mai was tender without the scent of pork. The pasty of the Cha Siew Sou was soft, tasty but not salty.
Beef Steak

Beef Steak

This beef was really a good recommendation. It was so tender and juicy. A layer of crispy fried pastry (not very sure what was it) was set below the steak. It taste like deep-fried flour coated cod fish. The sauce on the steak seemed to be made of something citrus. The combination was awfully delicious.smile
蒜片杞子枝竹扒时蔬

The seasonal vegetable was spinach. The bean gluten was very soft. Not my usual type of food but it was good. Overall taste delicious and rich. Definitely didn't taste the presence of MSG.

Just one word, 'Yummy'
西式黑糯米雪糕

This was good too. A deviation from the usual Pulut Hitam. Much nicer.
All these fantastic dishes for only $38. Definitely worth it.lol

Lovely place for family Smile Jan 30, 2012

The moment I entered the restaurant, I loved it. It was converted from one of those old bungalow. The surrounding was quiet. Even though we sat at the Alfesco area, I didn't feel the heat of the noon day. There was a fun-filled indoor playhouse for little children. An hourly rate applies. It's really a good place for family with young children.

The menu was simple, not much variety. I ordered a plate of Prawn Aglio Olio and a glass of cafe latte.
Prawn Aglio Olio

Prawn Aglio Olio

This Aglio Olio was delicious, slightly oily, but that's quite normal for this dish.
Cafe Latte

Cafe Latte

The latte was smooth and the aroma strong.
My friend had a discount coupon and so I paid only $16 for this meal. Definitely worth it. smile

Xiao Long Bao Smile Jan 30, 2012

Categories : Shanghainese | Dim Sum

Last December I went to Shanghai and tasted the Xiao Long Bao from the Nanxiang Steambun restaurant at the Chenghuang Miao. It was really delicious. When I was shopping around Plaza Singapura, I noticed that there was a restaurant with the same name as that in Shanghai. I was in a hurry and thus had not the opportunity to patronise then.
A few days later, I checked up on the Openrice website and realised that there was another branch at Bugis and decided to try it with my hubby. The restaurant was packed at lunch time. We were lucky to have a seat. We ordered a few dishes to try.

This was one of the recommended dish. A little sour due to the vinegar. Delicious.smile

The xiaolong bao was not as good as those in Shanghai. Didn't have much soup inside.
Dou miao

This Dou miao has nothing special in particular.
Chicken Chop

This fried chicken was just an ordinary cutlet.
I couldn't remember how much was the bill but it should be more than $50. We were given a $0.20 rebate card for our next visit.

I passed by this shop many times but have yet had the opportunity to try it till now. What attracted me was the steam ginger milk. I have never seen one before, so I decided to give it a try.

This steam ginger milk looked like chawanmushi. It was very soft. The taste of ginger was quite strong, a little bitter. Very unique and nice. ($3.60)

My hubby ordered this mango pearl dessert. I didn't try because I didn't like mango. ($5.30)

This Shrimp in beancurd skin was not very good. Some part was not very crispy. It was also quite oily. ($3.90)
