When I stepped into the restaurant today, I was surprised. When has it become so small. It used to be much larger. Now it was half it's original size. It used to be very crowded, but today it was only half filled.

There were two push carts, one serving the steam type Dim Sum and the other serving the fried type. I ordered the fried prawn dumplings, fried Beancurd Skin roll, steam prawn dumplings, chicken feet (my hubby's favourite) and the century egg porridge.

The steam peanuts appetizer was good. I did't like peanuts but this soft kind was an exception.

The steam prawn dumplings or Xiajiao has thin skin and lots of prawn fillings, while the skin of the fried one was slightly thicker.

My hubby was a little under the weather today, but this bowl of porridge seemed to lift him up.

Healthy Tart Smile Aug 23, 2011

Categories : Singaporean | Bakery

I was looking around for some interesting snacks and I found this. I like egg tarts but because they were mainly made from egg yolk. I tried to refrain from it for fear of the cholesterol. But this one was special. It was called the Egg White Tart (or White Egg Tart). As it's name suggested, the filling was made from egg white and that's the reason why it's white. smile
It costs $1 each.
As compared to the normal egg tart, this was less fragrant. It's not too sweet, which was a plus point. I could definitely eat more of this than the normal yellow one.

It's coffee again! Smile Aug 23, 2011

Coffee is really my daily need, without which I will have headache. Many told me that I should quit it. But I don't think so. Coffee is such a wonderful drink. It's aroma itself is sufficient to lift my mood up.

Today, my hubby and I went to Thomson Plaza for our lunch. We had tim sum at the Peach Garden Restaurant. After which we proceeded to the Ya Kun Kaya Toast for my cup of coffee. The coffee for all the Ya Kun shops tasted similar. What's special about this particular branch was that it was by far the biggest of all that I had been. It was on the 2nd floor of Thomson Plaza, an open space, and has more than 20 tables. I found that most of the other Ya Kun branches were small, the tables were too near for comfort. This one was so spacious. Didn't have to worry that you will infringe on anyone's privacy. A relax place to have my coffee.
Just Coffee.

Just Coffee.

Korean Cuisine OK Aug 20, 2011

Categories : Korean | Food Court

While my children and I were fuzzing over the mini-steamboat from the Hotpan Delight, my husband went to buy himself a set of BBQ Chicken Set from the Korean Cuisine. $5.50 each, $4.95 if you have the Kopitiam card. Actually, I realised that it was a good idea that we purchased one of these cards.

The portion of the chicken was very reasonable. Seemed like something was missing in the picture? Yes, the Kimchi, it had been replaced by double portion of the Ikan Bilis. My husband didn't like the sour Kimchi. The taste was the same as the Korean BBQ in all the other Kopitiam. Not particularly special.

Multi-colour Agar Agar Smile Aug 19, 2011
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Food Court | Juices

I saw the many colourful agar agar displayed within the glass fridge and it brought back memories of those days when my aunt used to make them. The multi-layers, each with a different colour and between each layer of coloured translucent agar agar was a layer of opaque white coconut agar agar. It has been a long time since I've eaten one of these. It's too cumbersome to make one at home. I bought a piece, took a bite and yes, a nostalgic effect. The mixture of the coconut and the agar agar is ever so nice. The sweetness was just right. smile

In addition, this stall sells fruit milk shakes too, something not so common for fruits stall in the food court.
