Self-teppan Smile Jan 30, 2012

I really like this particular teppan shop because it allows me to DIY. I have patronised this shop several times. It's price is reasonable that is why I recommended it to some of my friends. Today, I ordered the beef teppan. The advantage of this teppan was that it allowed me to control how I want my beef to be done.

I prefer my beef to be medium well. One thing I disliked about this teppan was that it has too much spring onion. Personally, I don' t like spring onion.

Most of the teppan comes as a set, with rice, salad and miso soup. I like their salad dressing. A little sour, very citrus like.

Snappers were not bad to go with the food.

Spicy Beef with Mushroom Smile Jan 11, 2012

This was the first time I ate at the Kopitiam at the Thomson Plaza, didn't even realise there was one here. It was almost 3pm and the food court was a quite empty. Though I didn't have a good experience with the Pepper Lunch at Vivo City, I didn't mind giving this one a try. I ordered my favourite Spicy Beef with Mushroom.

The serving was fast but again they forgot the soup. The portion was acceptable. After I snapped this photo, I quickly stirred and mixed it up to make sure that the beef and mushroom were properly cooked. Yummy! Hot and spicy. Beef was tender and mushroom was soft. The miso soup was a little salty. Overall --- delicious. smile

Handmade Pizza Smile Nov 01, 2011

Categories : Italian | Pasta | Kids-Friendly

In August, I was rewarded a $10 Pizza Memoirs voucher by Openrice for being one of the new top openricers. I didn't have the opportunity to visit the restaurant these two months but because today was the day of expiry of the voucher, I made a special trip there.
Pizza Memoirs

Pizza Memoirs

Actually, it couldn't be considered a restaurant. It was one of the stalls within a shophouse. There were three other stalls beside. The dining area was sort of outdoor. Though there was no aircon, it wasn't too hot.
I was there around 12.30pm and there wasn't any customer yet. They have a variety of both pastas and pizzas. I ordered a small Salmon pizza takeaway for my kids. The cost of the pizza was $15 but they charged $1 for pizza takeaway. Their speciality was the 100% handmade pizza.
Flattening the dough

Flattening the dough

There was only one man maning the stall. He took a dough and rolled it out into a flat circle. He placed the flattened dough on a circular wire mesh. Then he took a fresh salmon steak from the fridge and cut it into thin slices.

Adding Salmon

First he spread the sauce, then added the cheese, salmon and onion. Finally, he took out a bottle containing tiny green 'beads' in vinegar and added some on the pizza. I thought it was pea but he told me it was some kind of fruit. It tasted sour.
After all was done, he placed the pizza into the stone oven.

11 minutes later, a fragrant delicious looking pizza was done. He sliced it and place it in a box. He added a little more cheese.
My slice of pizza

It was two hours later that I tasted a slice of the pizza. It was still very nice even after so long. The crust was a little like bread. It was not salty. The salmon was fresh. The little green 'bead' was a little sour. The combination was good. It would definitely taste better when it was fresh from the oven. I must find another opportunity to dine here.

We were here again at the Garuda Padang Cuisine. It was about 6 plus but the restaurant was quite empty. There was a great selection of dishes. I wanted the Sotong but my hubby didn't order it. sad Must be because of the cholestrol.mad
Freeflow Lime Juice

Freeflow Lime Juice

This glass of lime juice cost $4.50. It's freeflow. We ordered two glasses of this and an ice lemom tea. They allowed my two kids to share one glass of lime juice even though it's free flow.
Fish and Egg

This Goreng Ikan Dory and Telor Dadar were specially ordered for the kids.
Potato and Curry Chicken

Potato and Curry Chicken

This Gulai Ayam wasn't spicy. The kids could handle it.
Tumis Kailan

Tumis Kailan

This Tumis Kailan was a little too spice for the kids. They made full use of the freeflow lime juice. This was my favourite, it was delicious but a little too oily.
We had a really full meal.

Alfresco Ya-Kun Smile Oct 13, 2011
Categories : Singaporean | Coffeeshop

This Ya-Kun is located outside just outside the McDonald restaurant. The seating area within the shop is small, a little squeezy. If you don't mind the heat, there are seats outdoor. Because it is located at the entrance to the shopping mall, you can feel a little cool wind from the mall when people walk in and out through the door. It could be quite entertaining looking at the people moving around.

The taste of Ya-Kun coffee from all the different branches is quite similar. I didn't have much to comment about. But this stall is slightly different from other branches in the layout of its preparation area for toast. It has a glass panel where you can see the toasting of the bread. Quite an interesting view while I stood waiting for my coffee. smile
