A Disappointing Meal Cry Oct 05, 2012
Categories : Burgers and Sandwiches

Since The Rotisserrie is just a short 5 minute walk behind my house, I walked over with my boyfriend to try the roasted chicken. We had walked past it many times to see people having their meals there. Thinking it was popular, we headed back on a rainy afternoon.

Sadly, we were disappointed by the fare there. The roasted chicken thigh did not retain any of its juiciness, it was dry and difficult to eat. Any flavouring if any was minimal and we could barely taste it. I ordered the soup of the day with a slice of bread ($5.90). There were a few pieces of potato, corn and slices of bacon but not enough to justify the price I paid. The bread was cold and hard. I could've paid a little extra and have proper soup with chunky ingredients at another soup specialty shop.

Likes
Very comfy seats and lovely decor.

Dislikes
-The chicken was too dry for my liking.
-The soup had a very sparse amount of ingredients.

Spending: Approximately $22

Not that great! Cry Sep 30, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

If you ever walk past Raffles City, there's always a long queue for this ramen restaurant. And when I say long I don't mean 5 people long, I mean 10-15 people long! Hence, I've been waiting to try this for a really really long time. When star vista opened and I walked over to have a look I was pleasantly surprise to see Menya Musashi and that there wasn't a queue! Hallelujah!

Unfortunately it all went downhill from there, I ordered the White Cha Su Ramen and frankly it just wasn't that great. The noodles weren't springy at all. The stock/soup wasn't even remotely tasty, I felt like I was eating instant noodles with an AVERAGE packet of flavoring powder. The Cha Su was the only saving grace for this bowl of ramen, it had just the right amount of fat and melted in my mouth.

I definitely won't be going back to this place anytime soon or in the foreseeable future.

I usually patronise the Cedele at Takashimaya but opted for a change and when to the one at Wheelock with my boyfriend. While the food was still as delicious, the service was absolutely ATROCIOUS.

Firstly, the waiter forgot to bring our menus after seating us. When we finally got someone to serve us, the waiter forgot to bring our drinks and we had to remind him. Unfortunately, even after being reminded he manage to deliver the drinks to the wrong table. He seem more interested in chatting with the cashier and other waiters. Thankfully the meal was pleasant. Also, did I mention they have all-day-breakfast which is something I love!

Sadly, the waiter took his own sweet time to get our bill and once again had to be reminded. I find it very tiresome when I’ve to remind waiters/waitresses for something. After all I’m paying service charge and I expect some sort of service at the very least. So I definitely will not be going to the Cedele@Wheelock again.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve never had this problem at Takashimaya’s Cedele. I guess different outlets have different training policies (?).

Not a fruit tart kind of person OK Oct 06, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Desserts and Cakes

I've walked past Fruit Paradise in VivoCity many times but never had the chance to go in and try their fruit tarts. Their display outside the cafe always looks amazing though so I was really looking forward to trying their tarts. I couldn't have been more wrong.

I guess I was expecting something more substantial under the fruits, but what I got was a spongy layer of cake and cream. I cannot be more explicit about this, I detest cream in cakes. Personally, I feel it's a useless ingredient. All it does is add a lot of calories and it doesn't even provide much flavour. It's a personal preference and maybe I'm not the best judge of this fruit tart since it all went downhill after I saw cream in it.

Likes
The fruits on top of the tart.

Dislikes
The cake and cream which formed the base of the tart.

Spending: Approximately $9

Breakfast for Dinner OK Oct 01, 2012
Categories : Western Variety | Café | Desserts and Cakes | Brunch

Headed down to Wild Honey on a Sunday night and surprisingly there wasn't a long queue. Decided to try the Canadian breakfast option. It consisted of 3 pancakes with butter and syrup and a small serving of bacon. Honestly, this was not Wild Honey's best dish.

I definitely would not eat this dish again if I went back. Why? The pancakes were mediocre at best, there were not fluffy nor tasty. Also, the syrup fell flat. It was not full flavour enough for me, I guess I like my syrup sweet or to at least have some taste. The serving of bacon was also very small. Overall, the whole meal was not worth the amount of money that I had paid. Would probably have preferred pancakes from another place.
