My hubby and I were really fortunate enough to be invited by the Openrice team to their food tasting session at Lil Papa's Wieners Beerstro. We arrived by 7.45pm and were greeted by Mr. Kenneth of Openrice, who was a nice and friendly guy.

We were then taken in and seated at our table. We were quite amazed by the cool ambiance and the wide display of beers and names that some of the beers have will set you laughing in a jiffy.

.

We were then served starters of yummy chips both spicy and non spicy which were great with the lemonade and Cherry Coke that refreshed us and set our spirits high.

The waiter then bought the main starter of Crunchy Pesto Bruschetta which is sliced Artisan Bread layered with pesto and cheese and contains garlic, basil, olive oil, cheese, cherry tomatoes and bell pepper, they were very tasty and so cheesy that we finished them off in no time.

We were then introduced to the man behind the success of Lil Papa's Wieners Beerstro, Mr. Fabio de Souza who was nice, jolly and cool guy and told us all about his success and what a big fanatic he himself is of Beers and Hot dogs. He also mingled well with the customers and went out of his way to see to the needs and comforts of his guests.

Then came the main course that we had been waiting for Hot dogs and Craft Beers. We had a choice of Hot dogs and we had to choose from the 3, namely

1. LIL PAPA'S FAV WIENER (not spicy) - roasted mustard pork, with home styled baked beans topped with onions and curry powder.
2. SINCAGO WIENER (spicy) - Tomato & Beef, topped with mild American mustard, chopped white onions, sweet hotdog relish, sliced pickles, green hot peppers, cherry tomatoes and a dash of celery salt.
3. SAMBAL SIN WIENER (very spicy) - spicy chicken, with traditional SAMBAL sauce with red onions, sliced pineapples, sesame seeds and cilantro.

I was almost drooling reading the menu and then made my selection of LIL PAPA'S FAV WIENER (not spicy) - roasted mustard pork while my hubby chose SINCAGO WIENER (spicy) - Tomato & Beef. We didn't have to wait long as our hotdogs arrived nice and hot and were really huge and very tasty and done to perfection. They were irresistible and I also managed to sample a piece of the hotdog that hubby had ordered and that too was really yummy and the sausages are quite big too. Our friend had ordered the SAMBAL SIN WIENER (very spicy) - spicy chicken and it was very kind of him to allow us to sample some of it. It was really spicy and delicious as the same time. We sipped our Craft beers which went really well with our food.

Do you know LIL PAPA's WIENER BEERSTRO has over 50 different types of Beers and serves 15 different types of HOTDOGS???

After we had eaten, we were served Toffee Apple Cider along with a huge bowl of Naked Sausages: Hot & Spicy Italian Sausages (PORK) & Beer Bratwurst (PORK) over curry ketchup, sauerkraut, cherry tomatoes, bell pepper, sliced pickles and pineapple. Although I was full, I just couldn't resist this delightful temptation and I soon found myself munching on the yummy sausages and sipping the Toffee Apple Cider which was just so tasty.

Soon the event came to an end and I had truly enjoyed myself that day. Thanks to the owner of LIL PAPA'S Wiener Beerstro for the amazing treat. More than anything else I was happy to meet the loveable, simple and down to earth staff of Openrice, who were in smiles all the time despite the fact that they looked very tired. They mingled well with the openricers and got to know each them individually. They are really dedicated and very nice people!!

Thank You Openrice for the invite and hope to see you all again soon. Thank You LIL PAPA's WIENER BEERSTRO for the lovely evening.

Best Italian dishes served Smile Mar 24, 2012

Since it was a Friday evening and the kids would have the next 2 days off school we decided to visit the Choa Chu Kang Library since it's the kids favorite place to be. Once we were done and the kids had enough of their reading we decided to leave and go for dinner.

Looks like we were all in the mood for Italian Food and we jointly decided on Pastamania which is just one level below the library and we made our way for it. Once we arrived we were told that it was a free seating and we could sit wherever we liked. Since we were with the baby pram we chose to sit right at the entrance table. Once we were all seated comfortably we looked through the menu that was handed over to us. Then came the hardest part about what to select. The kids quickly chose Waffle Potato and Pizza and we looked through the Pizza session and chose the 7' Meat Lover. Then I chose Bruschetta - which is served with chopped Tomatoes and hubby decided to taste the Calamari. For drinks we chose Mango Smoothie and Mocha smoothie and the Dessert was Choco Italiano. Once we decided on our menu I walked to the counter and placed an order and the boy at the counter asked me if I would like to go for a combo of Waffle Potato and I readily agreed since the kids are crazy for Coke. Once I was done I paid up and was given a token no.32 with the tray of Coke and Mango smoothie in it. I took the tray back to our table and sat while our food was on it way. The Bruschetta arrived 1st followed by the Waffle Potato and Calamari. The kids happily enjoyed the Waffles while hubby and I enjoyed the Calamari and Bruchetta. Then came the Pizza and the smoothies which made the kids even more excited. We all enjoyed our lovely and delicious dinner at Pastamania and once we were done we all shared the dessert and it was just as great as all the other dishes we ate.

Thankfully we don't have to visit Italy to enjoy their cuisine's since it's all available right here in our lovely Singapore smile

Categories : Restaurant | Seafood

This morning we were at IMM shopping. We shopped till it was 1 o'clock and then headed over to Fish & Co for the kids favorite meal of fish & chips. When we got there we were greeted by a waitress, who then took us over to our table and quickly fetched a baby chair for the little fellow to sit. Once we were seated comfortably the waitress gave us the menu and the kids quickly decided on Best Fish & Chips in town and I ordered the New York Fish & Chips for myself , while my hubby selected Grill Chicken With Oyster Fritters. While waiting for our meal to arrive the kids tried their hands at colouring a picture which the waitress gave them. Our meal arrived in a very short while and then we quickly began to feast on our pile of yummy fish n chips. The Fish & Chips here are really very good to eat and so tasty and fried to perfection. I even tasted the Grilled Chicken and nicely fried Oysters which were just so yummy to eat.

We really enjoyed our meal at Fish & Co. and looking forward to visit them again very soon.

Japanese cuisine at it's best... Smile Mar 12, 2012

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

The kids are on school holidays and since we were all at Clementi Library we decided to head over at Megumi Restaurant for lunch and to try some Japanese cuisine for a change.

When we got there we were readily greeted by the waiter and ushered to our table. We then ordered our drinks of Coke and Iced lemon tea. The waiter gave us the menu and we started to select our dishes. We couldn't make up our minds on what to order and finally narrowed our search and selected Oki Ebi Yaki Meshi(fried rice with large prawns), Shiok Ramen (Noodle soup), Hokubee Teppan Yaki (A sort of a Beef Steak) and some Shiro Gohan (Steamed Rice sprinkled with bits of dry fish). Once our food arrived we began to indulge in some fine Japanese Cuisine and it all tasted really yummy and was really good to eat.

Who says you need to be in Japan to taste Japanese Cuisine...I've just returned after eating some Fine Japanese Cuisine right here in Sunny Singapore smile

Snack time is always fun and filling with the delicious snacks you can find at Old Chang Kee. Just as I was heading home after my shopping at Jurong Point, I decided to pick up a couple of snacks for the kids. So I went to Old Chang Kee and picked up fish balls on a stick and a couple of Sardine puffs.

When I got home the kids were really happy to see I had bought them each their favorite snacks and they happily began eating them. The fish balls were nice and fresh and very chewy and delicious. And the Sardine puffs were hot and crispy and very delicious to eat.

Sardine Puff : $1.40 x 2
Fish Ball : $1.40

Although, the snacks have gone up by 0.10 cents they will still remain one of our favorite and will continue eating and relishing them smile
