Clam & Mussel Pot! Smile Jul 16, 2013
Categories : European | Pasta | Paella

Decided to give Ambush a try after seeing the OpenRice food tasting video!

We wait for about 15-20 mins in the queue, but food was served relatively quickly after we were seated.

I ordered a bacon with prawn Aglio Olio (Cant remember the exact name) for myself and a Clam & Mussel pot to share.

Disappointed with my pasta as it is very bland even with the bacon. Salmon is not included. It was from my friend's plate.

Clam & Mussel Pot is a major love! We ordered the pot with Vinc Blanc & Smoked Streaky Bacon for cooking style and it so nice! Mussels if not fresh or prepared properly will sometimes have these fishy taste but these doesnt have that at all!

And although I think the soupy sauce is not meant to be drank directly (abit salty) but I cant help but take sips after sips. So delicious!

Definitely recommend the Clam & Mussel pot (you can take clam only if you dont want mussels), but not the aglio olio!

Marble Slab Celebration Platter Smile Jul 16, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : American | Desserts and Cakes | Ice Cream and Gelato

Was at Bugis+ and decided to try the Marble Slab Celebration Platter as it has 10 flavours and saves us the trouble of thinking what to order. =P

The 10 Flavours in the Celebration Platter includes:

- Vanilla
- Cheesecake
- Birthday Cake
- Coffee
- Chocolate Swiss
- Double Dark Chocolate
- Strawberry
- Blackberry
- Cool Mint
- Red Velvet Cake

and also 4 waffle slices for $39.80 which is a very good deal!

For me, Marble Slab Ice creams are the leaning towards milky kind. So if you like those, this is definitely for you.

Out of the 10 flavours, Blackberry is my favourite!

It's just a little sour, not too sweet.. Love it!

Recommended if you have about 3-4 people to share it with!

Self-match Rice box Smile Jul 04, 2013

Categories : Japanese

Tori Q is a convenient fast food chain for Yaki Tori. You can order their Yaki Tori in sticks or in a bento set with rice, some prickles & seaweed.

They have 3 standard bento sets for you to choose from, but I prefer to mix & match myself as I am not a fan of some of the items in the standard sets.

For my set, i chose:

Rice - $1.50
Chicken Skin - $1.20
Chicken - $1.10
Pork - $1.20

Total $5 for the set. Quite affordable & tasty, however I dont really like too much sweet sauce on the rice. Will have to take note to tell the service not to drench too much of the sauce next time.

Cheap eat at Orchard Smile Jul 04, 2013
Categories : Singaporean Chinese

Working at Orchard, lunch is generally more expensive. Luckily there are eateries like Delicacy Food Centre located at Far East Plaza to provide us a cheaper alternative for lunch!

For my lunch today, I selected 2 vegetable dishes (kang kong and potato) and a fish for $3.50. Relatively affordable considering that fishes at mixed veg stalls are usually expensive.

Taste wise, the food although not some world class delicacy, is quite acceptable for a normal day lunch.

Ramen + Fried Rice Set Smile Jun 24, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Japanese | Ramen

I have always walked pass this restaurant but never went in so I decided to give it a go today.

Waiting time at the queue was long as it's dinner time on a Friday evening. However our food was served relatively quickly after we ordered.

While waiting for our food, we helped ourselves to this jar of prickled vegetables on the table - which is simply delicious! It tastes like the prickled vegetables you get from kway chap stalls and a good one at that.

Really nice and crunchy. I would definitely come back again just because they serve this FOC. tongue

For my meal, I ordered one of the sets with half portion ramen and half portion fried as I wanted to try everything! I forgot the name of the set though.

Fried rice is okay, but not fantastic. It's not hot when served and looked like it had been cooked and left in the cooker for awhile instead of those fry when you order kind. The egg is bland and are pieces on it's own rather than sticking to the rice.

Don't recommend trying. I have had much better Japanese Fried Rice elsewhere.

I love their ramen soup base! It's a little creamy but not over-whelming, and not too salty. I was a little disappointed that I only had half portion cos it's really delicious! Will come back for more!

We also ordered a plate of Gyoza to share. It was okay, quite standard Japanese gyoza. But I think the sauce to dip was a little salty though.

Overall, I would recommend fellow OpenRicers to try the ramen, but you can skip the fried rice. smile
