Craving for Little Fuji Smile Aug 01, 2013

What a queue but so worth it

St. Marc Cafe. Say it again. St Marc Cafe. Now remember and find it. Once you find it, order a Green Tea Latte and a Little Fuji. Now lets see you forget St. Marc Cafe smile

The Little Fuji is a crunchy danish pastry (more like a croissant) topped with soft vanilla ice cream. They warm up the danish pastry first and drizzle it with caramel.

The Choco Banana Fuji is almost the same but they just used chocolate drizzle and added banana slices. I prefer the Little Fuji but and of these two will make you crave for more.

Pair any of these with the green tea latte and you will be in dessert heaven. Its really that good. I won't lie, some people may find it too sweet or fattening but give this a chance and let me know.

Warning though, bring a little (or maybe a lot) of patience. The queue can get very bad and one of their signature dishes (the chococro) has a very high demand. The result: the queue is long and waiting for it can take longer. During this time the wait for choco cro was 1.5 hours. And yes some people waited. Why? because it's worth it. If you do order the choco cro try the strawberry flavor as well. I personally liked it better.

I urge everyone to try this. You won't be disappointed.

Jamie Oliver is one of the more popular chefs around. Though he may not be a culinary legend such as Ramsay, Tetsuya, Morimoto, and Puck, his shows has probably propelled him to be more of a celebrity than the ones that I have mentioned.

Welcome to Singapore Jamie!

So is Jamie's Italian a fantastic, filling, and excellent Italian restaurant? No. Is it a flop? Of course not. So what is it? I would say its good food. The problem with celebrity chef restaurants is that the hype and expectation is so high that there is a big chance of guests expecting magical food to be presented to them. And here lies the problem with Jamie's Italian, its nothing fantastic and yet the price you pay makes you want to feel it is fantastic.

Meat Plank

Meat Plank

Meat Plank - $15: This is Jamie's take on meat cold cuts and had a piece of prosciutto, pistachio mortadella, bresaola, and spicy soppressata. It also had buffalo mozzarella, pecorino (with chilli jam) and beet root salad. This was actually yummy but my only angst was that it should had a bit more. Maybe 2 slices of each item?

Wild Mushroom Ravioli - $16: I'm a fan of ravioli and I can say that this is good. But that is the issue, it was only good. I should be saying thinks like fantastic or mind blowing or even original but unfortunately its none of those. We should have order the risotto. The other table ordered it and it looked more interesting and appetizing.

BBQ Pork Buns to Remember Smile Jun 02, 2013

So, it was a Friday night and my good friend Mike is in town. Wifey also left the office a bit early, since it's "Eat with Family Day" and this was a good combination to try out Tim Ho Wan. One of the things you will experience when dining here is waiting in their monstrous queue. For a table of 5, wifey had to wait for 2 hours. Yup 2 hours just to queue. Good thing though is that once you are in, service is prompt and food is served quite fast + the food is rewarding.

You wouldn't normally associate very good restaurants with the airport. But I'm not surprised why Changi Airport won best airport of the year this year. I'm sure restaurants like Soup Restaurant makes a big difference. All of the dishes we order were terrific.

When you are in VivoCity and have a craving for fine Chinese food don't look any further than Dian Xiao Er. The food we had was very good even the braised lettuce dish which seemed to be too simple to be good is very very good. The herbal duck is the restaurant's specialty but the other dishes deserve their own credit.
