Old Chang Kee Puffs OK Feb 10, 2014   (Related Review)

Categories : Singaporean | Halal

If you are an ardent fan of Old Chang Kee by now you can distinguish the different markings on each of their selected puffs.

Red dot for their sardines puffs
Green dot for Chicken Mushroom
No dot or original are their signature Curry O

Costing each at S$1.40.

The ingredients for all puffs are still good except that the standard of the skin for all the puffs have dropped.

Lately, I noticed there are pock marks on almost all of their puffs.

Its time to check the quality control of the pastry.

Polar Brownie Cake OK Feb 09, 2014

Indeed a chocolate indulgence with Polar Puffs and Cakes brownie.

This all time favourite brownie cake with yummy chocolate slabs on every side.

Rich in flavour and decadent chocolate fudge with walnut chunks for this double layered cake.

Price at S$18.50 for this petite order.

I kept the balance of the chocolate slabs and melt them into chocolate fondue to go with the sweet Korean strawberries.

Waste not, want not, here's the chocolate fondue made from the balance of the Chocolate slabs.

Categories : Indonesian | Desserts and Cakes

Most foodies would have visited at least a dozen buffet spreads lunch or dinner at many of the restaurants in various hotels in Singapore.

Have you ever wonder who cater or provide all the Nyonya kueh kueh as part of the buffet spread.

Its none other than Kedai Kue Kue.

Their handmade delicacies are found at Hard Rock Hotel, Universal Studios (Singapore), St. Regis, Grand Hyatt, Shangri-La, Ritz Carlton, Four Sewasons, Raffles Hotel, Royal Plaza on Scotts, Oriental Hotel and the list goes on.

My favourite from Kedai Kue Kue are the Kue Bingka Ubi and Talam Ketan priced at 80 cents each.

Turnip Cake or Lor Bak Go OK Feb 02, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Bakery

This is my third year to purchase turnip cakes from 8Tarts n Pastries at Tampines Mall.

A traditional breakfast dish served to my family members during Chinese New Year festivities.

The turnip cake symbolizes prosperity and rising fortunes.

Also a common Chinese tim sum dish made from shredded radish and plain rice flour.

8Tarts n Pastries version of turnip cake has two fishes embossed on each set of turnip cake.

Price S$18.50 with a ten percent discount.

The gift box that comes along with each order of turnip cake is quite attractive and looked appealing as a Chinese New Year gift to close friends or relative.

This Turnip cake or Lor Bak Go is savory and interestingly flavoured. Either a steamed treat or even pan fried.

The Chinese sausages added flavour to the cake.

If pan fry we could taste the little crispy bits on the ends of each turnip slices and another bite the inside is soft and mellow with textured slices of turnips added to the cake.
Yum Yum

Yum Yum
