The Soup Spoon Smile Aug 10, 2012

My friens ordered the mushroom soup which came with a piece of bread. The soup was thick and filled with yummy bits of
mushroom. It went well with the bread and my friend decided to add on another piece for 50 cents. (I forgot if it was 50 or
70 cents.) As for me, I ordered the minestrone soup with the pastry on top. It came with the salad and sauce. It was my mistake for pouring all the sauce over and ended up the salad being too sour to be eaten. Anyway, I ate as much as I could. I loved the sour and sweet cranberries that were with the salad. The pastry was very fluffy and expanded looking. I felt like I was biting into the void and leaving a pile of debris (pastry crumbs) behind. As this was my second time eating this, I learnt from my previous mistake. I did not soak the entire pastry into the soup like that previous time I did. I broke it bit by bit and dipped them into the soup. The tomato based soup tasted good with plenty of ingredients such as macaronis, cabbages and other ingredients a minestrone soup would have.

Miso Korean Restaurant Smile Aug 10, 2012

Kimchi! This dish was one of the complimentary appetizers which they served. I can't take spicy therefore a few slices
were enough to make me 'hot'. Nyy finished up the rest and even asked for another plate. Anyway, it was free refill. Another complimentary appetizer was yellow beans. I ate 1 and stopped, as I did not know how to appreciate it. We ordered and shared the Korean rice cake, in case our main meal was not filling enough. It came with a hard-boiled egg and generous serving of chili sauce. At first I liked the chewiness. However as I ate about 4 pieces, I started to get sicked of the taste. Such things cannot overeat and would be recommended for sharing. My friend's beef set came. It looked really tempting and seeing steam coming out made me drool. It came with a bowl of seaweed soup which tasted too overwhelming. The result of mixing them together and do not be fooled by the look. It tasted really yummy. The yolk made the rice sticky
and goes real well with the tender beef slices. Feel the heat from the black pepper and the steam too. My friend was praising it throughout as he ate and perspired at the same time! My own set was less appealing as compared to Nyy. It came with a bowl of seaweed soup, fried chicken, salad and beef slices. Surprisingly, the fried chicken was rather fragrant. However, nothing could beat that pile of juicy beef slices resting on my plate, waiting to be eaten!

Sweet Spring OK Aug 10, 2012

This outlet had close down but I still write about it anyway. My friend and I ordered the pork ribs noodle for $5.90 each. It was a new dish, and it tasted quite bland and slightly oily. It contained a fair and sufficient serving of pork ribs to go with the noodles. The pork ribs also tasted bland. If only there were spices or pepper that we could add into our soup. We also ordered the bean curd skin roll with seafood and chicken for $3.60 to share. We liked this dish more than the noodles itself. The bean curd skin was crispy and fragrant and it goes well with the fishcake-like fillings inside. For desserts, we ordered the pudding combo for $5.90, which includes the caramel pudding, strawberry pudding and the durian pudding with red bean.
We actually split the servings into 2 portion. Our eating style was the same. We started tasting all 3 pudding first, and we ate the most horrible first and kept the best for the last. I dislike the strong eggy taste of the caramel pudding and ate it fast. Both of us felt that the red bean did not go well with the durian and we ended up eating the pudding separately. The strawberry pudding was sweet and we took our time savouring the berry taste.

Sakura International Buffet OK Aug 08, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Halal | Buffet

My friend and I went to Sakura International Buffet for a meal and I decided to be a member of the Sakura group and I paid about $40 and got the membership instantly. The graphic on the card is quite cute and it can be used as an Ez link card.
There is a large selection of sushis and I avoided taking any, as rice is rather filling. There are a huge variety of cooked food and most of them I do not really fancy anyway. For example, as above, I find those food rather common and they are cooked just to make people full quickily. I go buffeting with the purpose of getting full as well as reaching the value. A whole poached salmon lies on a pile of 'garden'. As I am a fan of salmon, I could not help using the tongs to dig some soft flesh out from its body. I tried every dessert that was available and everything tasted ordinary.

House of Steamboat & Noodle Cry Aug 08, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Steamboat/Hot Pot | Kids-Friendly

I met up with a large group of NS friends to have a steamboat meal. It was partly my fault that we ended up eating such lousy steamboat. It was lousy beyond imagination. Anyway, it was the company of my friends which made the eating experience slightly better, but not the food. Anyway, I will never come back to this place again. After we seated down, we were served a couple of complimentary dishes. It was only 1 round, not like other steamboat outlets around Bugis, it is freeflow! The first was the fried mantou with condense milk, I supposed. It was not fired enough as it does not have that crisp texture and feeling when I bite into it. The next dish was the chillied drumsticks. It was spicy and some of my friends liked it. I noticed many chili seeds on the drumsticks. It is because they are too lazy to remove them? Anyway, it was spicy enough to make me want to drink water. I ended up drinking some really diluted syrup drinks from the drinks dispenser.
Next was the fake scallop and fried spring rolls. Haiz, it was as horrible. It tasted soggy and seems like they had been
fried and left there for a period of time before being served to us. I hate it when I see oil seeping out of the spring rolls
too. The raw dishes were ordered by ticking on a piece of laminated paper and the choices are rather limited. It just feels so pathetic and some of the raw fish slices were unfresh. Writing this post made me feel like I am complaining all the way, and it is true anyway. Last but not least, I want to whine about the freaking soup. The so-called tom yam soup was tasteless and almost not spicy at all. They could as well give us plain water and we add in our own chilli and it would even be better.
