Was here for dinner and i wanted to have something light and healthy.

I came across this Yong Tau Foo stall and the food selection looked quite good.
Everything looked fresh and there was quite a wide variety. One thing i noticed however, was that certain food items like the fresh cuttlefish, dried seaweed and black fungus, were very small.

Those were definitely not worth the price you would pay for a piece.

The entire selection consisted of about 20 over items and everyone fully replenished, unlike certain stalls that have empty food trays at their display.

Some of the items i chose were enoki mushroom, fried hard-boiled egg, crabstick, taupok, bitter gourd with fish paste, meatball, wanton, toufu and white cabbage.

Remember how i was supposed to eat healthy? Well, i ended up being tempted by their laksa gravy. So i opted for that.

Taste-wise, the gravy didn't exactly taste like laksa gravy. It was more of curry actually. But it still tasted very good and i ended up finishing almost all of it.

The yong tau foo tasted quite fresh, but on their own, nothing different from other yong tau foo stalls elsewhere.

Overall, it was still a satisfyingly good meal. Will return in the future if i plan on having something healthy (that's if i keep to it). tongue

One could easily walk past this stall without even noticing it. Is it even called a stall? Maybe not. It's more like a pushcart, which makes it even more neglected and hidden away from the other stalls in the food atrium.

But now that you know, be sure to stop by Tan's TuTu Coconut Cake, located in between Pu Tien and the drinks stall.

I understand that kueh tutu is actually a favourite traditional snack back in the good ol' days. I'm not that old to have lived all the way back then, but what i can say is that this kueh is really good.

Consuming it right after it is freshly made is vital in maximizing the enjoyment and satisfaction. Of course, it still tastes great even if you consume it later, but having it hot from the mould makes it much more enjoyable.

The generous filling complemented by the thin layer of kueh tutu flour is a great marriage of taste and texture. You can choose from either fragrant roasted-peanut paste or finely shaven coconut for your tutu fillings. Both of which are equally friendly on the tastebuds. lol

I don't know if you guys noticed the stall names, but Pasir Ris Laksa took over another laksa stall called Zhen Shan Mei Laksa.

Both specialize in the same dish and both at the exact same location. So I should think that most people don't even realize it at all.

I was quite disappointed because i loved the laksa from Zhen Shan Mei. If I'm not wrong, they both price it the same as well, at $6.90 a bowl. I could only hope that at the same price, this one will taste just as good.

Surprisingly, it won my vote and it tasted very similar too. With its rich and fragrant laksa gravy, fresh prawns and cockles, and thick beehoon noodles that were as they call "al dante", this bowl of laksa made me a very satisfied customer.

Served with the right proportion of noodles and gravy, i couldn't help but to finish everything and polish my bowl clean.

The stuff here makes for guilty pleasure redefined.

I know that practically everything sold at Ngoh Hiang stalls are really unhealthy. I mean, it's pretty obvious, isn't it? We can see that thin layer of oil glisten over every deep-fried item on display.

No doubt, it can be a nightmare for any dieter. But when it comes to a stall like this, I say you put that diet aside, forget everything you know about calories and enjoy the finer things in life.

I'm not too sure why, but i think it's the whole old chinese-themed setting of the food court that makes their Ngoh Hiang even more appealing.

They have the usual ngoh hiang, cuttlefish, century egg, fishcake, you tiao, bean curd, fishball, prawn cracker, prawn roll, etc.

Each item ranges from about $0.40 to about $1 plus.

Most of the snacks here are done pretty well - fragrant, crisp and very tasty. The only downside is that certain ones are too oily for my liking and it doesn't help that the oil reminds you of how unhealthy the dish is.

And of course, always keep a mental calculation as you pick the food items. The price adds up and if you're not careful, you might end up paying more than expected.

I love the BBQ Chicken Wings here!!!
Well, I love chicken wings in general tongue But i never fail to order the wings everytime i eat at Food Republic.

They are very well-marinated and very delicious. However, i do notice that on rare occasions, the wings tend to be over-barbecued and a little "chao da" (burnt). But never to the extent where it's inedible.. tongue And always still very nice..

As for the fried carrot cake, i have only eaten it once. Quite tasty and yummy too, but nothing unique about it actually. I can find better ones elsewhere at hawker centres.

If you can, i would recommend you try the chicken wings. If only they reduce the price though .. sad
