Signature Beef Noodle Soup Smile Feb 26, 2013

I ordered their Signature Beef Noodle Soup, after contemplating for quite awhile on what to order as most of the food in their menu seem rather appetizing. The Signature Beef Noodle Soup cost $13.50.

When my meal came, I was pleasantly surprised to see such a unique bowl and layout for a bowl of beef noodle. On top of it, the soup aroma was quite strong and it smelled nice. Needless to say, the soup was simply delicious. To top it off, it also came with quite a lot of beef chunks and beef slices. I would say the beef portion was quite generous.

I am simply impressed by the tasty and yummy soup, tender soft noodle and huge generous portion of beef that tasted delicious too. I would strongly recommend this dish to anyone who loves to eat beef. I would certainly return to eat their Signature Beef Noodle Soup in the future.

On a side note, their waiters were very polite too and the restaurant was quite clean and huge.

Yummy Dinner Smile Dec 15, 2012
Categories : Singaporean Chinese

Went there for a simple dinner with 2 of my colleagues. As usual, the traffic at this place is so good that usually you won't be able to find an empty table and would have to wait for awhile before there's available seating. We waited about 10 to 15 minutes before there's a table for us.

All of us ordered a set of their signature dish each, Salted Egg Pork Rib rice. Here's a photo of this yummy dish:

When the waitress was carrying the plate of Salted Egg Pork Rib rice to our table, the ambrosial scent of the salted egg infused with the fried pork rib permeated the air and made us salivated while we eyed the dish that was on the way to our table. The aromatic smell of the Salted Egg Pork RIb rice was simply beyond heavenly. Although at the first glance, you would simply dismiss this dish as it looks so ordinary, but I am sure your perception will change when you scoop the salted egg sauce mixed with the pork rib and bite into it. As you sink your teeth into the meat, you will be amazed at how well the meat was being cooked and it still remained crispy although the salted egg sauce was being generously spread over the pork rib. If you noticed hard enough, you would have realized that the salted egg pork rib was also cooked with basil leave and chili paddy. Perhaps all this contributed to its aromatic scent and delicious taste when you eat it. I simply love this dish and would strongly recommend anyone to try it if you happen to drop by Far East Plaza. For a serving portion of 1 person and priced at a reasonable price of $6.50, especially when you are in Orchard and prices of the food are crazy, this dish would definitely be light on your wallet and full and satisfying for your stomach. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 as mediocre and 10 as very yummy, I would give the Salted Egg Pork Rib rice a rating of 10, which means I find it very yummy and I would definitely return to eat it again. smilesmilesmile

We also ordered a small serving of Chye Poh egg omelette to share among the 3 of us. Although we ordered the small serving, but the actual size of the dish don't really look small to me. Here's a photo of the Chye Poh egg omelette:

I think the egg portion is huge. Moreover, the amount of chye poh given was generous and well spread out among the egg. The crunchiness of the chye poh mixed with the egg tasted awesome and at a decent price of $8 for the small serving, I would recommend you to try out this dish too if you happen to eat at New Station Snack Bar. smile

As for the ambiance, the outlet has little decoration and the whole dining experience is akin to dining at a coffee shop zi char stall, except that there's air conditioning at New Station Snack Bar. As the outlet is rather small and only have approximately 10 small tables that can only accommodate 2 person per table, I think this is one of the reason why you would have to wait in the queue for at least 20 to 30 minutes if you go during peak hours for lunch and dinner. If you are not in the rush for time, this place is definitely one place that's well worth the wait, as both the Salted Egg Pork Rib rice and the Chye Poh egg omelette are delicious.

They stop accepting customers at around 9pm as there were two times I went at 9pm and the auntie told me that they do not have enough ingredients left in their kitchen. So if you are planning to have your dinner at there, I would advise you to go early.

Overall, I would give a rating of 8 out of 10 for my dining experience. It will be much better if they can have more tables to accommodate more diners so as to reduce the waiting time during peak hours. I would definitely return to try out more of their other dishes. It's also a pity they did not play any music or songs in their outlet. I think this will definitely add to the overall ambiance if they do so.

Seafood Tom Yum Glass Noodle Smile Feb 22, 2013

I just had my lunch at Bali Thai. Came across a very interesting concept in their menu where they allow you to mix and match the choice of your noodle (eg. Egg noodle, Glass noodle, Hokkien noodle, Kway Teow, Phad Thai noodle), ingredients of various choices to pick from and also the type of sauce.

For my lunch, I picked the glass noodle, seafood ingredients and Tom Yum sauce. I felt that the glass noodle was a bit too dry. It could have been better if they served the glass noodle that's not so dry and comes with some Tom Yum gravy. I also felt that the Tom Yum wasn't that spicy at all. I even felt it tasted a bit diluted, when I compared it with other Tom Yum dishes that I had tried before.

For the ingredient portion, they did give a reasonable portion. My meal comes with 2 mussels, 2 prawns, 2 squids and plenty of button mushrooms and carrots. However I felt it could have been better if they provide more prawns/squids/mussels instead of sticking to 2 for each of them.

Throughout the meal, soothing Thai songs played in the background. Although I don't understand a single word of Thai, but some songs are soothing and catchy and I felt it certainly enhance the diner's meal experience. Even the inner decorations had a Thai feel to it. The whole atmosphere feels very Thai.

The waiters/waitresses service were good too. They were very attentive and prompt in serving you when you signal to them. They are also quite polite too when they are taking orders.

My meal cost $10.90. With GST and service charge, final cost was around $12.75. Still quite reasonable for a meal at Orchard, but I felt it's a little expensive, considering that there are only 2 prawns & 2 squids & 2 mussels.

I went to New Station to lunch with 3 of my colleagues and each of us ordered the Salted Egg Pork Chop set and also an egg omelette to share. I think the Salted Egg Pork Chop cost $6.50 while the Egg Omelette cost around $6.

I simply love the way the salted egg was cooked and infused together with the fried pork chop. It tasted heavenly and this dish is one of the usual dish that I will often order if I eat at this stall. The Pork Chop serving portion was quite a lot.

The egg omelette tasted nice. I also like it.

If you happen to eat at New Station, I will strongly recommend you to try their Salted Egg Pork Chop and perhaps their egg omelette (optional) as both of these dishes are delicious and at affordable reasonable prices.

I simply love the beef brisket meal that I ordered from Top Beef at Kopitiam. It comes with a bowl of rice and soup and I think it cost around $5.

First the stewed beef tasted very soft, tender and delicious! I love it. The sauce that accompanies the beef is also tasty. I felt the beef portion given was pretty decent and each piece of beef is quite huge. The soup, although simple but it is tasty too.

I would definitely order this dish again if I eat at Jurong Point Kopitiam again. I love this meal and I felt the way they cooked the beef and the sauce that accompanied with it was simply great! smile
