I also ordered the Café Gourmand. It comes in a mini-platter of exquisite delicacies of the day together with a cup of black coffee. I actually top up a little more and change it to hot chocolate.

The delicacies include:

1 Marzipan

1 Fruit Jelly

2 macarons

1 Orangette (orange peel coated with chocolate)I love macaron the best.

If you happen to pass by Tanglin Mall, do pop by Hediard Café-Boutique for a look.

My Black Truffles High Tea Set came with an assortment of 6 savoury and sweet items, all containing black truffles, as the name implies - Truffle Tarama Toast, Truffle Creamy French "Oeufs Brouilles", Truffle Artichoke Heart, Truffle torchon Foie Gras toast, Truffle Honey Pannacotta and Truffle White Chocolate Maracon.

The Tarama is a pink fish roe, olive oil and lemon juice appetizer, similar to pate in texture, except that it comes with the fishy sweetness of what it's made of. Buttery and rich, it goes very well with the tender truffle slice and crispy toast.
Artichoke Heart was a paste made of artichoke as the name goes, a lovely texture that makes one think of matcha ice-cream or wasabi, but tastes nothing like that, of course. It has the light, grassy fragrance of artichoke, paired beautifully with olives and cherry tomato for a burst of flavors.

The Truffle and White Chocolate Macaron was unique, but the flavor of white chocolate was very discernible while the truffle was not. The macaron was sweet, with a lovely crust and thick cream.

Then the Truffle Pannacotta - my first time having truffles in a sweet form. The creamy pannacotta had the texture of liquid silk, sliding easily along the tongue; the entire dessert is lovely, and the truffle while making its presence very prominent sitting atop the pannacotta - had not much impact against the saccharine flavor.

Last but not least, the Truffle Creamy French "Oeufs Brouilles" - scrambled eggs, actually. They were fluffy and creamy in flavor and texture, wonderfully enhanced by the unique, piquant flavor of black truffles.

Finally, the Truffle Torchon Foie Gras Toast- melting in the mouth in a mush of deliciousness, along with crumbs of the crackling good toast.

Hediard Breakfast Set ($19++): Granted, it is not the most filling breakfast set ever, it was a pleasure savoring each item off the set. Given a choice between (a) Madeleine Blend Coffee, Hediard Blend Tea, and Hot Chocolate, I had to go with the latter. And that was possibly the best beverage decision I’ve made in forever. I’ve never looked back since (/drama) – it’s by far, the Best Hot Chocolate I’ve had in my life. And that counts for a lot. It’s ridiculously thick and flavorful, but not the overly-cloying kind. You can almost taste the solid chocolate in the hot beverage – it is that good. If you’re here, forgo whatever other drinks that entice you, dive straight for this without fail. The Set also includes (b) Orange Juice, (c) a choice of Croissant / Chocolate Croissant / Brioche, (d) toasted bread and butter with a jar of honey and homemade jam each, and (e) a choice of fried egg / soft-boiled egg / hard-boiled egg. I opted for Chocolate Croissant and it was the ordinary-good standard. The toast, on the other hand, was nothing impressive and much forgettable.

Caesar Salad with Smoked Salmon, Hard-boiled Egg and Bacon ($29++): Don’t be alarmed. The salad itself only costs $14++, while additional top ups of 3 slice of Bacon is $4++, 30g of Norwegian Smoked Salmon $9++ and the Hard-boiled Egg $2++. I’d recommend getting the Salad + Smoked Salmon. That would suffice. I don’t usually comment much on salads (because how yummy can they be right), but I thought their salad dressing was exceptionally complementary to the salad, and later with the Smoked Salmon. A possible option for a light meal.

Eggs Norwegian ($19++): Its rendition of poached eggs met the market standard. The yolks were flowy, hollandaise sauce average. The toasts might seem a little too tough at first, but with the help of the runny eggs, it’ll soften up and you’re ready to finish the course.

Macarons (6) ($15++): Hediard Cafe-Restaurant only sells macarons by plates of 6. That makes it $2.50++ a pop. What is exceptional here is that, there are 30 flavors available for selection. From the usual suspects to the rare sights like Gingerbread, Walnut, Ginger, Lavender & Apricot, Lemongrass and Calamansi just to name a few. You will literally be spoiled for choices and might take a while to come to a decision. However, be warned that by right, you will not be given a choice for the selection of flavors. Randomly, 3 ‘fruit’ and 3 ‘normal flavored’ macarons will be put on plate for you. You can try asking though. Anyway, the macarons are above average. The macaron shells are semi-hard (which I like), and the flavors are more or less distinctive.

The Cafe-Restaurant was full, filled by expats. We noticed that we were the only locals dining there. Though it’s not a very well-known place to locals, it sure is to the expats. So do make a reservation before heading down. It’s not too hard, you get an immediate booking here.

I’d be sure to head back. Not so much for a hearty brunch, but for its ambience, for a get-away, and for a ohmygod good Classic Hot Chocolate (can otherwise be ordered at $7++).

The tea was a Hediard blend. Flowery and fruit. Comes in a pot but it was so hot it took forever to cool down before I could drink it. No bitter tannins! Great flavour. Very refreshing! I was instantly picked up after having the tea. Tea costs about $7.50++ per pot.

Love the tea set everything is served in. Wonderful pieces.

The decor of the place is a bit dark and everything is RED. A bit of a red overkill.

The staff are polite but a bit slow. And not super helpful either. When asked about the groceries in the attached store, they have no clue about anything!

Recommended to rest your weary soul!

It consists of layers of puff pastry sandwich together with cream and lightly dusted with icing sugar.

The 2 pastry was not over powering sweet but it is quite expensive at $6 a piece.

Hédiard blend

The tea is actually strong China black tea with sweet orange, lemon and bergamot.
This combination was not quite my taste even though I like bergamot fragrant. Maybe this is due to the smoky smell of black tea.

After tea we pop over to the shop section to pick up some treats and gift. I picked this Delicate Lace Biscuit with cashew nut thinking it could be hard but it turn out to be small bit size of harden caramel with tiny chopped nuts. In fact it was crispy and easy to bite, nice to go with coffee as a little treat.

Expect to pay a premium price at these shops as most of the items are imported

Before heading to my spa, I decided to drop by Hediard for breakfast. I opted for the Creamy Scrambled Eggs with Bacon @ S$15. It was served with 2 slices of Hediard country style toasted bread. I love the eggs, which was rich & real creamy. Then I’d an order of Classic Chocolate @ S$7. I like how my Choc was being served, with some coffee marbles & a piece of Madeline. Taste was superb & I like the Madeline so much that I decided to take away @ S$1.80/piece.

Anticipation boomed to the fullest when me and my gF realised that we will be making a second visit back to Hiediard....not before recalling the very "FIRST" on the mind bustling experience by the Cream of Mushroom soup served by them...with compliments of a teaspoon of truffle oil to finish on top. This just simply complete the equation of the formula to the "best soup" that i had after landing myself on Earth....27 years back and counting!

Nestled in a row of cottage like old school shopping unit....Hiedard tucks itself nicely within one end of the building with the touch of lush decor that greets everyone that came into its path. First impression was the overall European theme and the antique door bell that rang in sync, orchestrated faithfully with the faint but soothing, jazzy music tone within bringing your mind to full relaxation upon entry.

We were then being ushered to the corner seat that came with a nice bay window that overlook the main road and with curious on-lookers looking at us within. At that point of time, the only scene that was missing are the snowflakes flowing down from the sky. I believe there's nothing closer with us being @ Paris. Feeling famished and totally relaxed, I decided to go for their The "Savoury" set going @ $25 per set that includes the following as of my choice :
Hot soup of the day or chilled soup gazpacho + Salad of the day or Tartine of the day or Croque-Ferdinand + Glass of wine (Bordeaux red or white) or Madeleine blend coffee or Hediard blend tea or soft drink
and with gF ordering Moelleux chocolate cake with vanilla crème Anglaise ($8).

Staff were all attentive and after our orders being taken into account, we were promptly served with our dining utensils and ice water. There's no doubt on the efficiency of the serving staff with good knowledge of their in house menu and their values of work ethics! Within 15 minutes, my first course came in with the soup of the day and it did not disappoint me in any bits. The mushroom soup again came in with the great texture of minced mushroom and with the heavenly touch of the truffle oil...disappointment was never in my dictionary that day. The tartine of the day was a house special highly recommended by the serving staff which is roasted lamb. The roasted lamb came in light with no source of the "unpleasant taste" that the lamb would usually involved. It was nicely sliced in thin pieces and totally tantalising once its was channeled into my mouth. Tenderness is the word that fully describe on the texture of the lamb.

Immediately, gF's serving of her dessert came in. The chocolate cake was fluffy and with its central part totally spongy and moist. With a mouthful within, the chocolate cake just practically "melts" and engulfed us within. Cloud nine is the emotion that best translate our feelings at that point. Last but not the least, the meal was completed with the Madeleine blend coffee. The aroma set itself distinctively from the usual coffee that i am so used to and the body of it commands so strongly on my taste bud that i can feel the influx of caffeine trespassing me!

In conclusion, Hiedard is the place to be should you wish to spend your time....be it a lazy day or a special night with your loved ones as your imagination will surprise you as you will be walking on the streets of Paris!

Eggs “Benedicte” ($16++) underwent a makeover since the best friend wanted scrambled instead of the default poached egg. This is a first for the chef since according to the waiter, “it’s never been done before. But possible.” Great flexibility there. This is very similar to the Eggs Norwegian, except that it’s served with Parma ham on toast instead of smoked salmon. The scrambled egg was good, with a velvety and creamy consistency.

I think cheese lovers will like love the Croq’ Ferdinand ($16++), a tartine of grilled bread with Parma ham, and topped with lots and lots of gruyere cheese and mornay sauce. Extremely cheesy is an understatement. Even I, the self-proclaimed non-cheese lover, like this enough to steal a second bite!
