Chili's is one of my favourite places for Tex-Mex cuisine. And ribs! Because we regularly hit up the original branch at Tanglin Mall, comparisons between that and its sister outlet at The Central were inevitably drawn when we dined there last weekend.
Service differs, the Tanglin Mall one being better staffed, with more efficient service, whereas the staff at Clarke Quay were a little more frazzled and bumbling. Food, too, was a little lackluster at Clarke Quay compared to the commendable grub at Tanglin Mall. Clearly, the standards between the branches are inconsistent; I'll probably stick to the Tanglin Mall branch.
We had:
1) Beef Chili ($12.50): This was a little charred compared to the ones at Tanglin Mall, like someone left it on the burner a tad too long. Still a decent starter nonetheless.
2) Chicken Enchilada Soup ($9.90): subtly spiced, and really lovely, if a bit stingy on the chicken chunks.
3) Bacon Ranch Quesadillas ($24.90): these were a little anaemic, and significantly less generous with the fillings than at Tanglin Mall.
4) Mango Chile Chicken ($19.90): wholesome, healthy, and delicious. The chicken was very nicely done, moist, flavourful and tender.
5) Grilled Chicken Fajitas ($27.90): one of the highlights. Succulent chicken, thoroughly marinated, and imbued with an aromatic smoky accent.
6) Classic BBQ Baby Back Ribs ($40.90 for full rack): outstanding as usual, hearty, flavoursome to the bone, fantastically burnished, with meat that was so tender it was practically fall-off-the-bone. This was served with excellent homestyle fries and a disappointingly dry skillet macaroni & cheese

Came here for dinner last night with a friend! It's been so long since my last visit to Chili's so i was quite happy to be back. But too bad my friend don't have much appetite so we only ordered a salad and mashed potato to share. Came here for dinner last night with a friend! It's been so long since my last visit to Chili's so i was quite happy to be back. But too bad my friend don't have much appetite so we only ordered a salad and mashed potato to share.

Chicken Caeser Salad $17 - This was a good healthy choice! Vegetables were very fresh and crunchy, chicken is simple and a bit bland but thankfully for the dressing with croutons and Parmesan cheese, it all goes rather well.

Loaded Mashed Potatoes $4 - I loved mashed potatoes and this is nice with the bacon bits and cheese. Pretty good portion and can consider if you just want a simple side dish!

The restaurant in question was non-pretentious at all, exquisite in its own way with beer-mugs chandelier lamps and chairs carved with the Chilis sign, but other than that, offers a very relaxed and comforting ambience for diners to enjoy good, fulfilling meals without feeling out of place.

We started with the signature Beef Chili with Nachos – tender bits of beef slow-cooked in a thick, delicious gravy with onions, peppers and chilis (but note that this does not taste spicy at all) topped with sour cream and cheese. It was delicious simply eaten on its own, or eaten as a topping on one of their thick, crispy slices of Nacho Chips.

I eagerly dug into my Chili Shrimp Quesadilla – a very delicious heap of melted jack cheese, shrimp, roasted jalapenos and corn salsa wrapped within thin flatbread sheet made of flour / corn. The burst of savoury flavours toned down by the slightly-grainy texture and light sweetness of the quesadilla skin – it was very pleasing to the mouth.

Today I have my lunch at Chili's Grill & Bar at Central @ Clarke Quay, it was only a few minutes walk from the Clarke Quay MRT. We ordered mexican food as the restaurant was famous for serving mexican food. Moreover, the color and the outlook of the food looks very appetizing.Firstly, we ordered the Bottomless Tostada Chips served with salsa sauce for $9.  Firstly, we ordered the Bottomless Tostada Chips served with salsa sauce for $9. As you can see the Chips portion was alot and the best thing was that you could refill the chips as many times as you want which was very worth while.

 Then, we also ordered the Chicken Club Quesadillas for $24 and Cripsy Chicken Tacos for $26. The Chicken Club Quesadillas was made up of chicken, corn guacamole, onions, peppers, it was served with sour cream, house made pico de gallo rice and black beans. On the other hand, the Cripsy Chicken Tacos consists of crispy chicken, bacon, tomatoes, cheese, lettuce, honey chipotie drizzle and ranch dressing, it is served with rice and black beans. I like the dishes alot as the food looks healthy and appetizing to eat. Each servings has 3 to 4 pieces enough for 4 people to share the food. I personally think that one piece of each of the dishes was enough for me.

 The Salsa sauce and the black bean sauce tasted heavenly. There was also avocado sauce served in the Bottomless Tostada Chips dish.

 Lastly, there was a promotion for buying Chili's gift certificate as you can get $10 free for every $50 purchase. I highly recommend this restaurant for people going to dine at the Central @ Clarke Quay as I think that the price was quite reasonable and the food was nice as well.

 We order the identical item for a apple-to-apple comparison. The beef was definitely fresher and more tender. However, we realised that their steak was no longer flame grilled but rather pan-seared instead. This probably explained the lack of the smoky fragrant and bittersweet aftertaste that used to captivate us.

We'll probably give their Fajitas a try the next time we visit again (to utilise the balance voucher).

We arrived pretty early and the restaurant was already half filled for lunch. The friendly service staff at the entrance greeted us with a big smile and even quietly asked me who the birthday girl was. She then reached out her hands to M to wish her a Happy Birthday. Sweet.

We were speedily ushered to our corner table as per my request over the phone when I made the reservation.

Our orders were taken quickly and it didn’t take too long for the food to be served too.

 First to be served is this wholesome basket of chips and dips. The guacamole dip is made of avocados, cilantro, pico de gallo (a salsa fresca of onions, tomatoes, chillies & lemon juice), fire-grilled corn and jalapenos and served with freshly-fried, hot tostada chips and one additional salsa dip. The guacamole is rich and creamy with a good crunch from the corn kernels. The smooth, buttery taste of avocado goes very well with the salted tostada chips which are perfectly fried with hardly any grease. I actually like their house-made salsa better because of its spicy and tangy flavour that gives that extra kick. The only downside of this salsa is that it is too runny so it’s a bit of a challenge to scoop it up with the chips without dirtying the fingers.

 The Triple Dipper is a combination of starters which we can pick from several selections so we get to try a bit of everything. For this, we mix and match the Southwestern Eggrolls, Boneless Buffalo Wings and Texas Cheese Poppers that come with three dipping sauces – chipotle ranch, avocado ranch and blue cheese – and a few skinny sticks of celery.

The cheese poppers are our favourite. Gooey, runny cheese in every deep-fried crispy ball. It is delightful to see how the cheese oozes out as you take each bite and it’s even more heavenly as the flavour explodes in your mouth. We just went ‘hmmm-hmmm’ at the same time! It was pure cheese-gasm for us, cheese lovers.

The Southwestern eggrolls remind me of spring rolls except that the wrap is much tougher because flour tortilla is used. While the filling of smoked chicken, black beans, corn, jalapeno, jack cheese, red capsicum and spinach is unique, there is actually not much of filling in the eggroll so every mouthful is just full of thick, chewy tortilla skin. It’s a pity the exterior isn’t crispy too despite it being deep-fried.

The boneless buffalo wings are made of chicken breast. While it’s easy to eat as you can just pop each bite-size cube into the mouth, the sauce that the chicken has been tossed in is too sour for our liking.

 One of the best grilled baby back ribs I’ve tried in Singapore that’s finger licking good. The rack is full of tender, juicy meat that easily comes off the rib bone without much effort. These are ribs that you can just eat with a fork and knife. Apparently these ribs are smoked in-house over mesquite wood and then grilled to order. I like the smoky flavour that has penetrated the meat so every bite of it is just flavoursome. The BBQ sauce that is basted over the meat is sweet, salty and tangy.

The appetizers chosen were Texas Cheese poppers, chicken crispers and southwestern egg rolls. The cheese poppers are full of flavour, but that's the thing, it's just flavour, not flavours, which makes it rather unsophisticated. It's basically just a mix of different cheese (cheddar and mozzarella) fried into a ball. The egg rolls on the other hand had a mixture of ingredients, capsicums, onions, beans and the like. It was pretty good but could have been better controlled. The deep-fry paired with the dominance of black beans resulted in a mostly salty flavour. This is compensated though by its semi-thick and tasteful skin which packs a greasy-sweet and chewy flavour.

The chicken crispers were not so good. It's very reliant on the concept of tasting the original flavour as with most U.S-styled cooking, but the frozen chicken that's most probably used is unsuccessful in providing that. Instead you get a bland, mostly oil-tasting dish.

For my main dish, I ordered a classic fajita combo. That was the first time I was eating fajitas so I didn't really know what to expect. What I experienced was pretty good, but nothing too great. The dish came with chicken and beef strips that had been grilled and placed on the serving hot-plate. They are accompanied by capsicums, onions and a dash of pepper for seasoning. There was a side plate with sour-cream, guacamole dip, cheese gratings and the like to add to the mix. These are then placed by your own choice of ratio onto a flour tortilla (they provided 4).

Chili's is one of our all time favourite dining place! Big portion of food at resonable prices. We will always order their pulled pork. It is very juicy with smoke bbq flavour. Each serving portion comes with generous amount of fries. There are a few new item added into the menu and we decided to try. Thick juicy burgers

Came to chillis on their burger promotions day where all burgers went for $8.80. The burgers are seriously good. They are characterised by thick juicy beef patties and are very succulent and flavourful. Each patty was cooked to perfection maintaining a pinkish interior and lots of juice. The accompanying bun was buttery and toasted such that it was very flavourful and complemented the burger patty well.

Full slab baby ribs - ribs is grill to perfection, tender & juicyMolten Lava Cake top with vanilla ice-cream - one of the many good ones I've had. I had the "Crispy Honey-Chipotle Chicken Crispers" which comes with a corn on the cob and fries as side. I was already mentally prepared as I was that the portion served in Chili's in huge... and indeed, when my dish arrives, I was secretly giggling to myself and looking forward to a very filling and full meal. The honey chipotle chicken is sweet (as what the name mentioned) but a little too sweet for me. It's not that it is very bad but just that the marination sauce is very thick that half way

The honey chipotle chicken is sweet (as what the name mentioned) but a little too sweet for me. It's not that it is very bad but just that the marination sauce is very thick that half way through the meal I was getting sick of the thick sweet sauce that I just had my fries and corn. Will be good if the dish is served with some rice. I love the fries and corn though as the fries is thick hand cut fries and crispy, while the corn is really sweet and enjoyable.

 The chicken quesadilla arrived within 10 minutes upon ordering and I was completely caught by surprise because the portion served was huge! It came with 8 quarters of the quesadilla, complete with a serving of spiced rice and black beans and salsa with sour cream. The quesadilla was warm and slightly crispy from the toasting. The filling was delicious -sweet onion, grilled chicken and heaps and heaps of stringy melted mozarella cheese that puts Mexican fast food to shame! The rice was nicely cooked and nicely seasoned. It had spices in it and yet the taste wasn't too overpowering. The black bean sauce was also cooked well and complemented the rice. The salsa consisted of lettuce, tomatoes and raw onions, providing a refreshing crunch to the meal.

This dish accentuates the subtle flavours that go into Mexican food and not just the stronger, more overpowering flavours that the spices and sauces seem to give. Extremely well done -nothing was overcooked, too salty, nor did I get the impression that the dish was hastily thrown together. Definitely not, it was cooked with heart and they had an eye of detail. The portion is also huuuuuge, so you may want to share this with a friend and order a side if you aren't too hungry!

The service here is definitely good, the waitress offered to get us sauces (Tabasco, Ketchup or Chilli?) without us asking for any, and we had observed that they had bothered to engage in conversation with a bunch of tourists nearby when introducing the Chilli's Happy Hour specials.

Definitely will come back to Chilli's on an empty stomach for another great meal.

We had the buffalo wings, big mouth bites(which was small bites burger) & texas cheese balls.
The buffalo wings was yummy. Crispy on the outside and tender inside. Big mouth bites was bite sized cheeseburger. The beef patty was juicy! Texas cheese balls was cheesy! The cheese just burst into your mouth when you bite on it.

We had the classic nachos as well.
Didn't really like it as the nachos was not crispy enough.
3rd dish we had was Chile shrimp Quesadilla.
Impresseive as I thought the shrimp will be tiny but it was huge! The combination of shrimp, cheese, corn salsa and jalapeño was great. Very appetising!
