Cheese Platter :: A selection of four French cheese, accompanied by French Baguette, honey, grapes and walnut. It was the perfect starter for my dining partner and I. The baguette was served slightly warm, and literally hard / slightly crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. Although I’m not one to say the quality of cheese, I must say I did slowly savored each and every art of it. The only thing I’d wished for is, more Baguette please!

Geraldine’s Favorite / Entre-Nous :: Geraldine’s favorite is, by chance, my favorite too. Containing goat cheese, roquefort cheese and emmental cheese, it was a cheesy night for me. And I love it that way. I thought though, it tasted slightly burnt, but managed to scrape through. If you’re a fan of prawns, tomato and avocado, then Entre-Nous Crepe is for you. You get the best of three worlds in a simple crepe served hot. As a cheese fan, I’d say though, I’d go for the latter, for the sheer fact that you can taste the distinction in each of its ingredients better, more enjoyable.

Sable :: Two shortbread biscuit dressed with their famous salted butter caramel, I say this is the dish of the night. Looks can be deceiving, and in case, it is. The caramel looked to kill your throat with just a single touch, but I was proven wrong. It was one of the easiest caramel to eat – not too rough, but still withholding its distinctive caramel taste. Them, matched with its vanilla ice cream, was just a perfect three-way.

Granted, the food isn’t the best in town, but the warm and homely service, on top of it being away from the hustle and bustle, this small restaurant is worth a visit.

I had the homemade salted butter caramel and the La Groix crepe which has Camembert cheese, potatoes and bacon. The crepe are v thin and lovely. Won't feel too gelat as it is very thin and big eaters might not find them filling. The savory La Groix crepe with chunky mash potatoes is awesome but I just wish it was more warmed up. The sweet caramel crepe was not bad but I would suggest to share as it may get quite cloying.

For my savoury crepe, I chose the La Groix - camenbert cheese with potatoes and bacon bits. I usually would go for Geraldine's Cheese (different kinds of cheese in one crepe), but I wanted to try something different and was very happy with my choice. The addition of bacon bits was great!

Lastly, the dessert crepe. I had to try the Entre-Nous (homemade salted butter caramel) crepe. Actually I was quite surprised I hadn't tried it till now. This creation was da bombbbbb. It's salted caramel done right - not too sweet and not at all hard on the throat! I'm craving for this right now, sigh. A must-try!

Layered crepe has been a recent trend in the food business and the layered crepe here is really good due to the cream in between the crepe which is smooth anf flavourful. The chocolate cream has a rich and heavenly chocolate aroma and the taste of the crepe is not too sweet making it perfect.Other flavors are also not bad and the crepe goes well with a cup of tea or coffee.

the Faustine's Milky Dream ($6)
This was named after the daughter of the owners here sounds like every child's sweet fairytale with a happy ending. It was simply thick frothy milk topped with salted caramel which was not overly sweetened.

the salted butter caramel ($9.90)
As for the sweet Crepes, the salted butter caramel was a slight disappointment as the crepe skin could be more evenly cooked but the sauce was really fantastic! It might be personal preferences but I usually liked crispy thin-layered crepes but every culture does crepes its unique way

This French house attracts many office workers during weekdays but we were glad we went on a Sunday afternoon when the place is not too crowded and perfect for chilling out with friends. As you might have noticed, many of the items are named after the owner and his family. I guessed this is one adept expression of how chef-owners translate their passion for life into their food.

Poisson Soup (Very Rich and Creamy Seafood Soup, mainly fish as told by the shop owner)

Hoedic Crepe (Spinach topped with Goat Cheese, very rich cheese taste, advice only those who like strong cheesy taste try this only)

Ham & Egg Crepe (Not bad, although it taste more like Roti Prata due to the egg)

Stephan's Favourite Crepe with Side Salad (Chicken with mustard sauce, best out of the three crepes we had! and the most worth value since there is chicken slice in it, MUST TRY)

Sweet Tudy Crepe (Cooked Sweet Apple with Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, YUMMY!!!, am sure other sweet crepe is great too)

Salty crepes are mostly burned maybe due to all the cooking of the ingredients inside, only the sweet crepe is not burned.

Worth coming back again for craving sometimes.

All thanks to The Kensington Crêperie, I’ve had a massive craving for crêpes when I got back from London. Sadly though, there’s not many authentic crêperies in Singapore. In fact, that’s already an understatement since I think there’s only two in town, both owned and managed by French couples. One is Crêperie des Arts and the other is Entre-Nous Crêperie.

The crêpes here are good, nothing as fantastic as TKC, but still good enough to make me happy. I like the myriad of textures and flavours in the Entre-nous crêpe ($18.70+). Very interesting combination of mashed avocado, garlic, cream, tomatoes and prawns!

Stephanie’s Favourite ($16.80+) is one of the signatures here and worth trying if you like roasted chicken, sweet caramelised onions and tangy wholegrain mustard~

One thing I notice about the crêpes is that they are spread too thinly, hence causing lots of unsightly “porkmarks”, haha. Sometimes, being too thin is not ideal (for crêpes and ladies)!

Ok, who likes salted caramel? If you do, it’s a must (I repeat, a MUST) to try Geraldine’s Favourite ($14.90+), a sweet crêpe filled with bits of cooked apple, homemade salted butter caramel and a scoop of chocolate ice cream (vanilla by default). Seriously, the salted caramel is incredible, you must try it to believe! Just for this, I will return.

The Crepes here are made from Buckwheat Flour , which is healthier than the normal white flour/ wheat flour. Buckwheat flour has a slightly nutty texture , a ”sandy” flavour and is brown in colour.

In French , these buckwheat crepes are known as ” Galettes ”
They offer both Sweet and Savoury Galettes . Under the ” les gastronomiques” section, the popular choices are —- ”Stephane’s favourite” and ‘‘Geraldine’s favourite”.
Under the sweet crepes section , the Entre-Nous crepe with *salted butter caramel is highly recommended.
*Homemade

Salad of the day: Cabbage & Avocado Salad
Basically some shredded raw cabbage and chunks of avocado . The shredded cabbage has a nice crunch but personally I do not like avocados ( though it is beneficial for the heart).

Stephane’s Favourite : Chicken, caramelised onions , whole grain mustard dressing ($16.80+)

The advice is to enjoy the galettes which is still warm and crusty ( at the edges). The crepe taste slightly different from the usual crepes made from white flour , it is slightly stronger in flavour but has a nutty flavour. There were slices of chicken in the middle of the crepe (but non at the folded edeges!) but I find the chicken slices a little dry. The caramelised onions and whole grain mustard dressing has a sweet flavour which goes well with the crepe( I wished there were more!)

Sable ($8.10+)
The 3 mini french sables were yummy! It crumbles a little but it goes very well with the home-made sea salt caramel sauce . Eat it together with the scoop of vanilla ice-cream, it was divine!
P.S If you enjoy the sea-salt caramel , you can purchase it at $14 / jar.
Verdict: Though crepes are not meant to be filling, the crepes here are quite special . Worth a try if you would like to have a change of taste , from the normal crepes to buckwheat crepes

The advent of crepes in Asia is not new but with recent reviews by food bloggers, I thought I might contribute an entry that I had the opportunity to try when I was in Singapore last weekend. I like my crepes. I like that I can make a whole meal out of something so simple but yet have limitless combinations. I like that savory buckwheat crepes seem to be so healthy and that it feels sinless to eat an abundance of these, notwithstanding that the contents of the crepe might be uber rich.

Aside from Creperie des Arts, Entre-Nous is the only other authentic place I've now tried in Singapore. Both are owned and run by French so without having gone to Brittany, these are probably as authentic as they can be.

To maximize the visit, I had the set menu which starts with a choice of dry or sweet apple cider. I'm not much of a fan of too much alcohol but being a sucker for apple juice, the choice of sweet was obvious. But since I drove, B's choice of dry won.

The seafood and mushroom soup which kicked us off was surprisingly very good. Very tasty in which both seafood and mushrooms were almost equally represented, the result was well balanced and unlike its looks was not too heavy on the cream. The French dinner roll was great company too, and you can see the steam escaping as you peel it in half.

The classic of the La Biehat - a buckwheat galette filled with eggs, ham and emmenthal was a yummy combination. The only slight drawback was that the galette was a little more crispy than the one from Creperie des Arts and less chewy as I would have liked. But overall, the ingredients were good quality and each complemented the other perfectly. A great breakfast even at 9 in the evening! And the salad of loose lettuce leaves drizzled with a wholegrain mustard based vinaigrette was wonderful in its companionship.

Dessert was a sweet crepe with the house special Entre-Nous salted caramel. The crepe was eggy in fragrance and the perfect chewiness and was made heavenly when generously drizzled with the salted caramel. Not wanting to neutralize my workout but not prepared to leave without seconds, we ought a bottle of the salted caramel which the lovely lady said we can store at room temperature for up to a month. Sold! And I've been savoring it on my morning toast since.

Entre-Nous' setting is modern and bright as compared with Creperis des Arts' which is very Brittany country complete with sailor paraphernalia. But if I had my way, savory at Creperie des Arts and sweet endings at Entre-Nous.
