Hong Kong Dim Sum offers a range of maybe only 8 different dim sum offerings, but each are reasonably priced at $2.50 and these include favourites such as siew mai, har gow, congee and chee cheong fun! What perhaps draws people to this stall is that the dim sum is freshly steamed for you upon ordering so its served piping hot!We ordered Har gow, Siew Mai, (shrimp) Chee Cheong Fun and Pork Ribs, each at $2.50.The Har Gow has a translucent skin with supple, fresh shrimp. We ordered Har gow, Siew Mai, (shrimp) Chee Cheong Fun and Pork Ribs, each at $2.50. The Har Gow has a translucent skin with supple, fresh shrimp. While we did enjoy the filling, we would have preferred the skin to be a bit less sticky. The flouriness also became apparent when the har gow cooled. Nevertheless, it is worth a try given that it's only $2.50 The Siew Mai is really piping hot and you can't eat this in one bite (challenge accepted?) The size the siewmai here is significantly larger than other places and the meat is really tasty! It was a bit salty though, but we wouldn't deny that the size + flavour were all there. If you like your food light and refreshing -this might not be so ideal for you. Go for har gow seconds instead! The Chee Cheong Fun has shrimp in it and it's really fresh and supple, however the chee cheong fun was slightly flourry and the skin wasn't very smooth. it doesn't have the silky quality that shimmies between your lips when you slurp it up I'm very picky with ccf though, so if you're not too particular with it this should do the trick. The pork rib wasn't exactly fresh and there were tiny bone bits inside. While the taste was good -you can taste the sesame oil and the savouriness of the soy sauce etc, the texture of the meat ruined it for me. I don't deny that it tasted nice though. Just would have preferred tender meat without small bones inside!
P.S. The food here is a bit salty by my standards and the skin of the hargow/ccf isn't too smooth. For the price though it is pretty worth it as the portions are substantial -try the siewmai! They are huge, tasty and juicy
