Meantime, the Creamy Scramble Eggs ($15/add on with smoked salmon $3) might not be as grandiose as the soft luscious yellow clouds served at Bills, but was a heart-warming delight to go with its reputable croissant. Yes, I've had it previously with my dark chocolate drink and it still stays VERY delicious.

The Lemon Cheesecake ($9) exhibits great character, distinguishing itself from the usual baked cheesecake with a livid lemon curd in the centre and a reliable chocolate biscuit base instead of the occasionally cranky graham crust.

The Hazelnut Opera ($8.50) was particularly iffy; unquestionably tri-textures of the hazelnut ganache, coffee sponge and chocolate ganache, but the hazelnut tones weren't pronounced.

The Nouvelle G ($9), a 73%-63% dark chocolate spaceship lookalike that had a delicate sandy yet crispy chocolate feuilletine which was finer than any of the feuilletine here.

And the star was the Coconut Choux Tart ($9), a pretty revolutionary piece that focused on the coconut-flavoured Carribean rum. Nothing much to speak in terms of coconut accents, but the beloved textures of all the components; chantily cream, (empty) choux puff, salted caramel sauce and Creme brûlée custard tart is enough to make this gateaux a highly saleable one.

Till the next wave of new creations~

Nana has bought a log cake from Patisserie G. It is Cherry flavoured which weighs 650 grams and costs $55 each. For this price, it looks rather small for a log cake. But it tastes very delicious. The thick layer of cream cheese blends very well with the slightly sour-tasting cherry filling. Yummy but too bad it is so small. All finished in with a few mouthfuls each.

I didn't really think of visiting this cafe, due to the prices of their cakes. But it definitely changed my mind after my first visit. The quality of the items offered are really good!

We had the Triomphe, French Hot Chocolate and Brioche Toast. All the 3 items were good. However, the hot chocolate was a little too overwhelmingly rich. It feels like you are drinking straight milk chocolate ganache! I have no complaints since I have some chocolate craving.

Definitely a cafe worth a visit, and re-visits!

We ordered several cakes and had them on the go since we did not want to wait for a table and all the cakes arrived safely intact as the staffs took the extra effort to tape the serving cardboard for the cakes firmly to the box.

Known for its signature controversially named dessert, "The G Spot", it seemed too good to pass. With an impeccably smooth and glossed surface, the dark chocolate mousse with chocolate meringue sits on a chocolate hazelnut praline crunch. Slicing through the cake reveals a rather messy picture but it definitely overwhelmed us in terms of taste, flavours and texture. The melt-in-your-mouth mousse was perfectly complemented by the crunch of the hazelnut pieces. The richness of the quality dark chocolate used also meant that it could be a little satiating on one's appetite so we would surely recommend pairing with some tea or coffee or have this to share.

This was my personal favourite as I felt that the flavours were bold and checked all the respective boxes in terms of visual appeal and texture. The white chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis was the core of the dessert and was nicely tucked on a crumble base with a white chocolate almond coat.

We loved the tang especially from the raspberry sauce which impressed us with its natural taste, made from fresh raspberries. This was beautifully complemented and enhanced by the creamy and mildly sweet white chocolate. You could also taste the richness in the butter which went into making the crumble base.

This milk chocolate mousse with creamy caramel and chocolate sponge on an Oreo cookie base, with a touch of peanut butter was insanely sinful and calories-laden BUT if you looked beyond that, you would be in for a sweet treat! Slicing through the cake reveals a nicely partitioned and layered interior and much praise could be given to the delicacy in crafting this dessert.

The flavours were again bold and intense like the other desserts tried. We struggled to taste the peanut butter but moving forward, we liked the quality ingredients that went into making the cake. Like the G Spot, it might be too much to finish the cake on its own due to the richness of the cake. Anyway, sharing is loving!

Labelled "Special of the Day", the G-Crunch brought back fond memories of those sweetened toasts that one can expect to find in bakeries. The thick toasts were baked to golden brown perfection with a nice crust and icing. There was a subtle hint of honey and a strong fragrance of butter with each tasteful bite.

While we were highly intrigued by the cakes tried, what impressed us was the dedication and commitment by the serving staffs in taking the time and effort to understand what we wanted before making the relevant recommendations. Despite other customers behind us trying to push forth and ask for recommendations, they were told, politely, to wait for their turn. Exclusivity and attentiveness coupled with the premium quality desserts won us over.

Settled on the Tiramisu, which consist of lady fingers dipped in coffee, whipped mascarpone cream and flavored with rum. I feel that a good tiramisu cake is difficult to make and requires a lot of skills. I love Patisserie G's version of it, it tasted like a tiramisu pudding infused cake. I would want to try their signature G-Spot and Lemon cheesecake the next time I come here!

Ms Gwen Lim identifies her target consumers as "a niche group of people who understand French pastry and are discerning about good-quality French products", namely the "well-travelled" Singaporean. Mm not the humblest way to plug her pâtisserie, but must say she really knows how to appeal to the yuppie psyche.

Lemon Cheesecake, $9.00 - One forkful of the cheesecake should be enough to convince you that these cakes are worth good money. The filling is zesty and creamy without being too heavy on the palate, and flecked with crushed vanilla beans. The biscuit crust is actually crispy (!!) and tastes slightly singed, but went pretty well with the citrus filling and the strip of candied lemon peel. There's this thin gelatinous cover on the cake which I find odd, but its mostly tasteless and adds glossiness to the cake so meh, I'll live with it.

Triomphe, $8.50 - Named after a historical monument, the Triomphe sported a lustrous toffee-brown coat that made it resemble a giant piece of Werther's candy. This baby was calling out my name so I decided I had to eat him. The caramel mousse was malty, ever-so-slightly burnt and, to sum it up: just divine. Within the cake there are a couple layers of soft hazelnut sponge, but the mousse was the friggin' star of the show. If it were up to me, I'd add a praline base or something crunchy at the bottom to provide some contrast in texture, but I'm sure the chef is better than I am at knowing which ingredients go together. In any case, the magical mousse is reason enough to justify repeated visits to Patisserie G.

Flat White, $5.50 - The coffee selection here is proof that Patisserie G isn't going to bend over backwards for pedestrian crowds. Our respective requests for a mocha and a skinny latte were met with an apologetic "We don't do those here." from the waitress taking our orders at the counter. Embarrassed by my wimpyness, I manned up and got a flat white.

Patisserie G gets its blends from artisan roasters Liberty Coffee (specifically the Speakeasy brew), which should please coffee aficionados. My flat white was nutty and robust.

I watched in slack-jawed wonder as one of the baristas artfully crafted the smiling face of a bear on another customer's latte, then scowled in displeasure at the very unelaborate heart on the surface of my flat white. I'll be back, and I'll be sure to request for a bear on my coffee.

Millenia Walk. A mall I first stepped into only just over the weekend. Yeah, what a Singaporean I am right. It’s better late than never, as I fell right in love with it. To me, it’s a bigger version, and air-conditioned as well, of Rochester Mall. It’s quiet even on a weekend, but there are gems in there you’d never known until you walk out the mall. I have heard of Patisserie G, but well, like many others, did not head over, because of its (lack of) accessibility, and the fact that there are just far too many malls in City Hall alone. Now that I’ve made this new discovery, they ought to embrace my more frequent presence to come.

Patisserie G was only opened late last year. I did not know the reason why the name, until I was informed of the owner’s name – Gwen. Patisserie G is a very chic and elegant dessert boutique, so the image alone has already got me head over heels in love. I’m a sucker for whoever makes priority in branding and imaging.

The physical shop isn’t the biggest dessert boutique around, but sufficient, mostly due to its quiet nature. There are a couple of bar seats, in addition to the 3 – 4 tables available. If you’re fortunate enough to grab a seat, I’m telling you, you can expect to have some tai-tai moments.

Plain Croissant ($3) :: The croissant looks magical and inauthentic at first sight. I mean, you can’t blame me – just look at the shiny surface, it appears to be a toy croissant. But take a bite off it, and you’d nod in agreement that it is indeed, magical. I love that it is full of the bearable buttery taste. Not to forget that it’s adequately fluffy within, with an appropriately crispy exterior. It strikes a good balance as then, it’s not entirely crispy and dry, but soft, warm and quantifiable all together.

The G Spot ($9) :: From the name, it suggests that it’s their signature dessert piece. And though I haven’t tried many other pieces of cakes, I quite agree already. Shaped like a dome, the Dark Chocolate Mousse with Chocolate Meringue that sits on a Chocolate Hazelnut Praline Crunch would surely satisfy chocolate lovers like myself. I always feel that with biscuits, or crunch, for this instance, the otherwise potentially boring chocolate cake tastes much better. It adds a degree of complexity to the dessert, and I love it. The dark chocolate wasn’t too bitter, which was good for the bigger mass. I can’t wait to try more of her other cake selections.

Macarons ($3) :: Over ten flavors of macarons available, one would be spoiled for choices. I know I was. It took me a while to hand pick two flavors I’d most like to try. Though a hard decision, I settled with Green Tea & Cherry and Salted Caramel. I was initially pretty pleased with how the macarons taste, until I had the second piece and realized that the macaron shells were of drastically different hardness. One was just about right, and the other was much harder. I do not know if it was a matter of freshness, but was disappointed. Notwithstanding that, I enjoyed the flavors of the macarons. Salted Caramel fell a little short (I thought the flavor wasn’t substantial enough), but the Green Tea & Cherry was good – it gave me a ‘zen‘ feeling after, probably because of its tea-flavor. Unique and good. I know that I would still go back, and I would still order other flavors of macarons just to try them out.

Patisserie G always serves your usual hot beverages, and some pastries like Quiche. I am looking forward to another high tea session at the dessert boutique.

I also like that iced water is provided (self service). And that the whole concept is a very fuss-free one. Order and pay at the counter. No GST. No Service Charge. Perfect hideaway.

The Gnut looks more like a plain donut on first look. It has done away with the usual toppings that occupy the top of the Cronut, with the only toppings being the filling sandwiched in the middle. For people who thinks size does matter, the Gnut is distinctively smaller in comparison with the Crodo, though it makes the Gnut a more suitable tea-time snack to go along with coffee rather than a quick on-the-go bite.

The Chocolate Gnut is filled with a generous amount of chocolate mousse. Texture-wise the Gnut would be crispier and flakier, achieving a more crossaint-like taste and texture and was lightly buttery, though not sickeningly so. Since it is a fried item, it is somewhat oily, with oil oozing out with every bite.

To avoid huge risks, I opted for the Macarons, albeit still not cheap for the petite size at $3. Having read so much about the excellent macarons by the chef who had trained under World Pastry Master Pierre Herme, I must admit that I felt underwhelmed after a few bites.

Not that they were biscuit-dry but not the best-for-value ones. The texture was crumbly, slightly chewy. Some were more delicate than the others because ganache was used instead of buttercream.

Yuzu Raspberry $3 each
But putting ganache implies that the macarons do not last long at room temperature. My favourite Salted Caramel was almost disfigured after a 45-min train ride home (my fault...luckily, it still tasted wonderful). But what I would remember about G's macarons is their eye-catching colours and uncommon flavours like olive and milk choc miso.

Douceur Chocolate $8.50
On my 2nd visit, I was determined to get myself a cake no matter what. And it was the Douceur Chocolate: milk choc mousse on a hazelnut dacquoise that changed my overall impression of the pastries here.
This ultimate hazelnut combination brings to mind Pierre Herme's Plasir Sucre, but I was so happy that the version here was even better as it was not overly sweet or cloying. The extra crunchy praline in the middle had no signs of staleness.

Salted Hazelnut $3
I liked all the macaron flavours, but I'll pick the salted caramel/salted hazelnut again (as always). After these two visits, I returned for a massive eat-out on the third visit (probably due to desperate longing for cakes in Japan).

I ordered a cup of latte and it came with nice latte art. Looks better than it tastes though. Also ordered the quiche Lorraine which was really tasty with smooth custard and juicy crunchy pork belly within it. I also ordered the macarons priced at 3 dollars per piece. There was quite a wide selection with seasonal offerings. I really liked the cute Yuzu Raspberr that had pink and yellow 'covers'. But I still find them quite expensive.
