Yuzu Green Tea Bubble Bath ($12++)

The drink was part of the Dilmah Tea Inspired Menu from 1 June to 31 July. It was served with a rubber yellow duck sitting on the meringue. So cute looking. The drink was refreshing with cubes of mango sitting in the bottom. Interestingly it was not served with a spoon and had to request for one.

French Toast with Ham and Cheese ($14++)
Served with creme chantilly Brioche bread sandwiched with Swiss Gruyere  cheese cream, Paris ham served with salad tossed in house dressing.
Could not taste the cheese cream in the bread, nor could see it. The bread looked average not the kind of brioche bread which I was expecting.

Ondeh Ondeh Queen's Castella Cake
($11+)
Made using fresh fragrant pandan leaf, and studded with gula melaka bits with hints of coconut.
It was like pandan chiffon cake, with filling in between.

I was surprised when the filling flowed out like lava too when I cut it into halves. Too bad the salted egg yolk was not available. The only other flavour available was chocolate which I was not interested.

The staffs' knowledge of items available was lacking. One staff did not know there was croissant on menu, while another did not know what flavours of the cheese tart.
The place was packed and waiting time was about 45 minutes when I overheard a staff telling a customer as I was leaving the place. I was lucky that didn't have to wait for a table then.

Antoinette's Hot Chocolate - $6.50

This was kinda 'disastrous', imagine lukewarm melted dark chocolate. It was too concentrated to enjoy it as a cup of hot chocolate, tasted more like a chocolate sauce. Hmm, where are the churros? The fortunate part? The rest of the items that we ordered was a pleasure.

Caramel Creme - $9

In comparison with the hot chocolate, the tea seemed more pleasant ~ light and fragrance. Tasted better with a tad of sugar.

Saint Honor L/Amour - $8.50

It was love at first sight! It looked so pretty among the others that I just had to order, not knowing what it was. Adored the fresh pink cream with a hint of rose fragrance coupled with the shortbread which made this sweet little thing a delight yet refreshing dessert. I had never tasted anything like this before, call me a swa ku (mountain turtle), but I definitely enjoyed this.

Strawberry Shortcake - $8

I always have a soft spot for strawberry shortcake even though it seems very simple. Sometimes, you just need simple thing to make yourself happy. Keke

Here, the strawberry shortcake is basically light sponge cake nested on top on 4 big & sweet strawberries, which sort of formed the base, and again fresh cream on top. I actually preferred strawberry shortcake compared to chocolate cake and the strawberry shortcake here tasted good, almost as good as those I had in Japan. =)

Gnocchi Carbonara

We all thought that it should be a normal pasta since it is an option under Pasta.
But didnt expect that it totally looks different and the portion is quite small too
The pasta was filled too much cream, too creamy and the flour from the pasta itself was also too flourly

Anyway, so we had different cakes and desserts for sharing, starting with the Strawberry Coolie with Vanilla Mousse (around SGD$9.00). It had a lovely texture on the outside, like a crusty chiffon kind of combination. The sweet-sour flavor of the fruits blended right in, bringing the pastry to a new height -it tasted as good as it looks.

Next, the famous Strawberry Shortcake (around SGD$9.00) - velvety smooth and cotton soft, with the most aromatic strawberry flavor in its cream-dream layers. There were also real fruits tucked between the layers, making this cake an enjoyment in texture and flavor.

Then we had the Chocolate Macaroons and Opera Cake (around SGD$9.00) - a lovely blend of bites amongst softness. It reminded me of praline truffles, or meringue bits amongst the not-so-soft cake. The chocolate was rich, but not to the extent of toothache-inducing. Overall, this was a lovely selection.

Finally, the Le Royale cake (SGD$8.00) - layers of dark chocolate mousse, crunchy hazelnut feutille and almond meringue - on a pulp soft sponge cake. This was a chocolate heaven from first bite till the last- the overt sweetness of the chocolate balanced with the other abovenamed ingredients, making it absolutely another favorite of ours.

Selection of awesome cakes and macarons, all delectable and fulfilling. My personal favorites are the Chocolate Earl Gray Cake (a deeply-chocolately haven mightily-infused with the richness of earl gray flavor, topped with a cherry that looks and tastes good) and Saint Honore L'amour(crusty pastry filled with the sweet goodness of rose petal cream, rose petal adornment, fresh raspberries and strawberry compote). Sadly, the latter, which is a real beauty - has been taken off the shelves.

The Wild Mushroom Risotto - exotic field mushrooms cooked with arborio rice in White Wine cream sauce, served with crispy Serrano ham. The arborio rice has always been one of my favorites as well - chewy in itself, infused with the tasty wine-creamery, made more delicious with mushrooms - heavenly!

There were a few people waiting outside but we need not wait long as there were a few patrons exiting the cafe. We were seated in less than 15 minutes. While waiting, my friend and I lingered around the display, marveling at the dainty desserts on display.

We were shown to our seats, a sofa seat, and 2 opposite facing cushion chairs. The sofa had pillows and were incredibly comfortable to lean back against. The cafe was also tastefully furnished with European styled lamps and portraits. On the whole, its a quiet atmosphere, good for couples who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road.

The menu were for the main courses and beverages and so we stepped outside to take a look at which desserts we are getting. We settled for the namesake of the restaurant, Antoinette and Charlotte.

I am not going to start dropping some fancy French terms that makes up this cake - Antoinette, which i don't even know so i will just sum this up in three words : Rich, Chocolate, Cake. Thats it. I thought one could burst the caramelized looking thing on top and the liquid inside would flow up but it didn't. Too viscuous i suppose. This cake is PERFECT for chocolate lovers. But even then its best to share it with someone else lest it becomes too cloyingly sweet.

Charlotte is so very pretty. I am referring to the cake of course. I love the bright red color of the cake, very visually striking and the ribbon bow. Its strawberry flavoured and the sponge cake is just an outer layer. Inside there is a layer of chantilly cream with strawberry jam. Absolutely delightful. Adds some different texture and taste to the cake.

Overall the service is not bad, the waiter (i only seen waiters, no waitresses on the day of visit) refilled our glasses. But once we are done with the cakes, he did not bother to refill anymore. Nonetheless one should give them credit for their calm and polite composure.

Likely to return for desserts and tea. (Their coffee machine was not working today so we didn't get any drinks

Ever since I've read tons of great reviews about this place, I finally got a chance to visit one of its outlet at Mandarin Gallery. My first impression of Antoinette was great, the exterior design was amazing, displaying the vintage French outlook that can hardly be found anywhere else in this country.

Although it was a late afternoon on Monday, the queue seems to always be never ending. We've waited roughly around 5 minutes, we were lucky and were led to this 2 table seating with a really comfortable European styled cushion.

The interior decorations were really lovely as well, full of vintage elegance that perhaps for a split second you may actually think that you could be sitting in a corner shop in a small town area in France.

I always believe that interior design is key to all customers' hearts because it does a lot to adjust their mood before they read the menu. At Antoinette, it was truly an inviting environment that prepares you to enjoy their exquisite French fare.

So once seated, the menu we got at the table were the ala carte menu, we weren't sure whether to order from the counter directly or to ask the waiter, but since we wanted to choose the desserts up close, we personally went to the counter to order ourselves. Their cosy retail section showcase some of the loveliest pieces of art it's hard to not want everything!

I've got myself their signature, Antoinette ($10). This is basically a chocolate biscuit with earl grey tea crumbles covered in milk chocolate mousse infused with earl grey tea, coated with dark chocolate mousse cremeux then carefully topped with raspberry coulis. Before I've had this, I always thought that the raspberry coulis was a hard coated chocolate, but you were actually supposed to slice it so that every part of the cake would get some raspberry flavour as enhancement. The dessert was really rich and true to its price, there's hardly any flaw but you may want to get someone to share it with because it can make you really full.

My friend got herself a beautiful piece called Charlotte ($9), which is a kirsch brandy infused fresh strawberry finger biscuit with strawberry compote, the Bavarian vanilla cream and Chantilly cream in between gave the dessert a great texture and the ribbon that it came with made it seem like a sweet Christmas gift, really interesting!

Honestly, we wanted to get the Cafe Antoinette Creme to pair it with the desserts, but heard that their coffee machine broke down and my friend don't like tea, so we had ice water instead. But because of that, the total price came out pretty good! It was interesting because instead of a bill holder like other restaurants, the bill came in an exquisite European style container. This actually says a lot about how meticulous the owner is to let customers experience the Antoinette way from start to end.

Overall, I am really impressed with Antoinette. Although the service here wasn't exceptional, but from the fine and elegant furnishing to beautifully crafted cakes, they were enough to make this trip a memorable experience. I can't wait to try out the savoury dishes the next time I visit. After all, this restaurant definitely is the place to go if you want a short getaway to France without getting the air ticket!

There was a slight tinge of bitter earl grey in the sweet cake, very good mixture of taste. Thumbs up for the food!

P/s: restaurant was very cold when we were there. bring along a jacket just in case!

I like this double sunny side up at Antoinette. The portion may look small as i was planning to have a light diet for breakfast but all the calories from the egg somehow ruined it. nonetheless, the meal they present there has a wide variety and can surely suits people who have strange diet preferences. The ambience there is nice and you can spend time catching up with your friends over breakfast!
