My parents and I come here very often so each time we try to be adventurous.

My recent visit, we ordered the sushi set that came with an assortment (2 each) of raw and cooked sushi (there was fatty salmon, tuna, unagi, scallop etc etc.) and I thought the size of each would be small but I was so wrong. The set was so large, 3 of us had trouble sharing it a long with one of the special sets that came with black pepper cod fish, and the sashimi salad, which by the way came with very generous portions of sashimi and is enough to make me come back to this branch just to have it again and again! Sauce that came with the salad was slightly tangy due to vinegar, but delightful. As well as some plates of sushi off the conveyor belt, all very tasty.

I would come back here again but not for their cooked food sets.

Ichiban Boshi offers a variety of japanese food, and is a good alternative to sakae sushi and sushi tei. I was craving for some rice, so I got the Chirashi Jyu, which costs $14.90. It's basically a rice bowl and comes with salmon, tuna, swordfish sashimi, topped with salmon roe. Not exceptionally good, but the sashimi were fresh, and salmon roe goes well with the rice. Miso soup was average.

The MenuThis is a menu during off peak hours at Ichiban boshi from 3 to 5.30pm. The waiter may not give you this menu, sometimes you got to ask for it as not many are aware of such deal too.The FoodOut of the five items, I ordered Salmon Yukke Don. There are also udon and green tea served which are included in the off peak set I ordered. It was not bad as you got to taste both udon and rice. Overall
I would definitely return for this deal if I managed to visit it at this time. If I am not wrong, Ichiban boshi even made an effort to change its off peak menu from time to time. Thumbs up for that!

I have always loved Japanese food eversince I was young. At first I never had the tastebuds for Sushi Rolls, but now that I've gotten older, they suddenly have that appeal. I still do not eat the raw ones though, And I know I might be missing on some succulent flavors and tastes, but to each his own right?!

I have always loved anything shrimp, so when I first tried Ichiban Boshi, my instinct was to order the Ebi Fry, In Manila we call it Tempura, I love them, any decent Japanese Restaurant will never cook Tempura wrong, with the light and fluffy breading that envelops that rightly cooked shrimp, dipped in a ginger filled tempura sauce. It is just a heavenly taste, Light with the right amount of crisp and flavor.

So like I said, while I was browsing Ichiban Boshi's extensive menu, my thoughts were, ebi fry, on every flip, I was looking for that familiar Ebi Fry. Then I saw it, then decided to look further on the Menu, just to see what else they had.
And found myself looking at this wonderfully, Curious Wazen.

What?! Japanese have curry too?! I was curious! Seriously curious because I thought that Curry was an Indian Thing. So I decided to give it a try, since the Wazen's full title is, Chicken Cheese Curry Wazen, and if you have read my other reviews I am a sucker for cheese!

The set included a hot plate of Curry Chicken topped with Cheese and it served on a hot plate with fire still underneath the plate to make sure that it is constantly hot while you eat (and I'd like to think, its placed there to melt the yummy cheese) and it also had my all time favorite Ebi Fry as part of the set, a bowl of rice, a cup of miso soup and 2 slices of sweet watermelon. On the side I ordered their Mini California Roll (what is mini with it I do not know).

My very first attempt at any curry, EVER! was so unexpected, the flavor is amazing, just the right amount of heat and sweetness, and the spices just melt all together in my mouth, the chicken cooked just well enough that it is not stringy or hard, it was almost melting in my mouth. I loved it! The serving was so big I almost had to give up eating my rice just to be able to finish the whole thing, The size of their serving was good enough to share! I was almost resentful that I ordered an extra serving of Mini California Rolls because I am so stuffed to finish everything I ordered!

But even the Mini California Roll was made with so much heart, everything tasted great, and the value for money is amazing. The Ambience of their restaurant is also glorious you'd feel like you were royalty, The attendants are always pleasant and nice, I have kept coming back with friends since I discovered this place.

Going Japanese is very easy, Ichiban Boshi.

I looked through the menu and decided on my favorite sushi variety - Tako, sweet bean curd, tobiko, unagi hand roll and chukka hotate.

The tako sushi was good although I wished they had placed some wasabi between the tako and the rice. I added some.
The sweet bean curd was good and so was the unagi hand roll

I did not really enjoy the tobiko sushi, as the seaweed did not break easily as i tried to bite into it.
The chukka hotate was good and fresh

Perhaps next time, Id try and sit next to the moving sushi

Went to Marine Parade all the way from Yio Chu Kang just to meet one of my secondary school classmates because she lives there. So both of us went to Parkway Parade and had our lunch. We went to Ichiban Sushi since there's nothing else there that we wanted. So i ordered this seafood bento to shared with her. It has salmon, fish roes and other more. It tastes quite good as the raw taste is not strong.

Nice sushi. Not cheap but the quality is pretty good. It's better than most places. There is takeaway sushi and there's a lot of variety and sauces to choose from. The sushi here is pretty nice. And they are delicious and I would surely patronise again for their other main course. It was filling too so definitely worth going there again!

Not only that my little girl is a fan of this soft Japanese cake, I am also one of their supporters. Sometimes I can even drop by at parkway just to get this cake for our breakfast. It comes in 2 sizes and I normally will go for the big one as this cake still stay fresh even after a few days . I can have it for breakfast and tea break and I never get sick of it. So soft and really melts in the mouth with every bite. love it.

My colleagues had the Unagi Tofu Wazen set and Sukiyaki Wazen set. Both sets looked like good feasts to me but I didn't try any of it hehe. My Menchi Katsu & Croquette Curry set ($12.90++) was enough to keep me occupied.

My set came with a bowl of tuna salad, a plate of rice with pork katsu and croquette slices and plenty of curry in a saucer, as well as a bowl of miso soup. The pork katsu and croquette were fried crispily, but I didn't feel that they were too oily when I sunk my teeth into them. The curry was just of the right thickness and taste.
Only minus point was the tuna salad had greens that I didn't appreciate as it had a slight bitter taste, don't know what to call those greens though. I had to eat the greens together with the small bits of tuna to mask the smell.

If you enjoy Japanese curry, you can try this the next time you go to Ichiban Boshi. I think it's quite a reasonable set with a not-so-heavy price tag.

Next item to have will be their bento sets that is so valued for money. The service was good. I will go back again.
