Then again, there is no discrimination when it comes to roast meat. How can anyone not like the crackling glossy skin of the duck or that buttery melt in your mouth fat that is so irresistible.

A soup, 3 kinds of meat and 2 plates of rice cost us $27. Pricey but am not absolutely sure if its worth it. The duck may be a little dry but the char siew is to die for. The black caramelized dark sauce is great on the meats and on the rice as well. I absolutely dig the rice which is moist and really fluffy. You must order the char siew. It's fantabulous. The salted veg duck double boiled soup is also a great accompaniment to the meal.

However, all been said, i'd reckon i'll get the same great char siew at Fatty's at ABC market and at a fraction of the cost.

Don't misunderstood and think that the char siew is burnt! It is not.. this is honey roasted..so of coz there will be some caramelisation of the honey on top
Meat is tender !

We ordered the full platter which includes roasted duck, sio bak and char siew.
Not a fan of duck so I was not too impressed with it.
It was too chewy and rubbery and very hard to swallow.
Sio Bak was crispy and yummilicious.
You could hear the crisp when you bite on it.
Highly recommended.

Next the Char Siew was the BEST I HAVE EVEN EATEN.
It was the right texture and right proportion of fats vs lean meat.
If you are there for the char siew, just go all out.
No point saying that the meat is too fat because it is MEANT to be fat anyway.

Last but not least, the fragrant rice!
I could simply just eat it with the gravy!!
The gravy was of the right googy-ness and taste.
I love my gravy and I was glad that they are very generous with it by giving us an extra bowl of it when we asked for it.

Overall I would go back for it.
But please go early. The queue gets super long during lunchtime.

Total bill was $22 for 2 persons.

Finally get to try this $3.5 mil recipe! We were greeted by a long queue of about 10 people in front. We ordered 'San ping' which means 3 kinds of meat. We had duck, char siew and sio bak! I immediately fell in love with the char siew! It's charred but that's their speciality! Heard the lady boss mentioned before on an article that they use pig's armpit area for the char siew, which is more tender. Although its slightly fatty, it tastes wonderful! As for the siobak the top was roasted till crisp

We paid $32 for it, including 3 drinks n 3 white rice. By the way if you order a normal plate of char siew rice it'll be $5 each.

Kay Lee Roast Meat Shop sells roasted char siew meat, roasted duck and roast pork. Mrupupup only heard of this shop when it was reported that the owners wanted to sell away their business and the shophouse which the business is located in. Well, if anybody got $2 million to spare, you can try to take over their shop premises and the roasted meats business with secret receipe. If no money, we just have to eat their roasted meats. Kay Lee Roast Meat shop is located at 125 Paya Lebar Road, Singapore. Be prepared to wait for your food as there always a queue for their roast meats. Mrupupup managed to line up and pay for a take away packet and it is not cheap, costs $5 per packet of roast char siew meat with rice (almost double the normal price). Ok, Mrupupup did enjoy the quality of their special black and 'charred' char siew meats and taste very delicious. Enjoy the pictures of Kay Lee Roast Meats.

Decided to try Kay lee roast meat after hearing much from people. The queue there is really really long. Have to wait for a long time before it is your turn. Only worth it if you are buying more, otherwise not worth to queue so long for a plate of roast meat rice. I bought the roast duck, char siew, and roasted pork. It was quite good, properly marinated and roasted. Quite worth the money and time spent.

After the article on them fetching up to $3m for their recipe for roast meats, I decided to make a trip down to Kay Lee to try and see the hype. Well, I can only say bad timing. I should have expected the crowd, but it is really way out of my expectations. I reached there at 1pm and I only got my plate of char siew at 2:15pm because the roast duck has already sold out by then. The char siew is the very sinful kind since it is burnt and fatty. I didn't quite like it to be honest because I thought

I should have expected the crowd, but it is really way out of my expectations. I reached there at 1pm and I only got my plate of char siew at 2:15pm because the roast duck has already sold out by then. The char siew is the very sinful kind since it is burnt and fatty. I didn't quite like it to be honest because I thought it was far too fatty and burnt and by the time I cut out all the carcinogic parts and some of the very fatty parts, more than half of the meat is gone. The table next to us was lucky to get the duck and I overheard them saying it is not worth it since they paid $20something for half a roast duck. That is way overpriced. In fact, our char siew rice is $5. I really don't see the hype nor feel the price is justified, which is just as well, since the waiting time is too long and I am better off eating other cheaper and less cancerous stuff.

I have been eating the roasted meats from Kay Lee Roast Meat Joint for many years now. The meat from this joint are marinated in herbs and the taste is simply unique.
