I actually liked the noodles (the thin ramen kind), the Char Siu, the Ajituke Tamago (soy eggs). The broth was okay.

Marutama is now my second favourite ramen place, and it has the potential of winning my heart (and stomach) over soon. But I don't know. I was too hungry that day when I tried it, so probably I'll go back for a second visit for a better judgment!

This is the best ramen i have had my entire life!! Their pork is so soft and seasoned. The fats just melts in your mouth! I ordered the one that's non spicy at $12 which only consist of ramen, soup and 1 slice of pork. Very greedy, i added char siu (3 slices only) at a cost of $4 and 2 seasoned half boiled egg at $1 each. So my entire bowl of ramen adds up to $17. Very simple bowl of noodle but heavenly delicious! The soup is too salty as it's cooked with Chicken and not the usual Pork base. As for the ramen, it's still spingy!

All in all, it's definately worth the price I am paying!

Central is host to a bunch of ramen restaurants and this time for lunch, I went to try out one of the more popular restaurants - Marutama! As expected, there was already a short queue forming up to get in. The ramen came and I must say that it is quite tasty, but not as intense as the ramen from Tampopo, possibly because this ramen's soup stock is chicken based rather than pork based. It was a bit salty though. The chashu pork was tender and nice and the egg was done perfectly. Overall a place that I might consider visiting again but it doesnt exactly blow me away.

I usually don't eat ramen when I am out, because personally I think most of the ramen stores just cook with maggie mee with a lot of MSG, which is what we cooked at home. However, when my friend first brought me to Marutama store... I usually don't eat ramen when I am out, because personally I think most of the ramen stores just cook with maggie mee with a lot of MSG, which is what we cooked at home.

However, when my friend first brought me to Marutama store... It was mind blowing! Even though the noodles look like it's right out of the packaged instant noodles, the taste of the whole bowl of ramen is totally different from what I have eaten elsewhere!

The soup base is awesome, especially for the spicy ramen. Can you imagine a spicy soup base without the reddish colour and can still be as clear as the non-spicy ramen soup base? Well, I was amazed apparently. The tenderness of the charsiew on top is superb! I can totally feel it melting in my mouth and the feeling is really heavenly. Last but not least, TRY THEIR HALF-BOILED EGG (ajitsuke tamago), it taste so awesomely surprising! It's hard-boiled on the outside and half-boiled on the inside. Isn't it amazing how they do that? However, this tamago MUST be eaten with the noodles/soup as it could be very salty if you eat it alone, although it is still super delicious.

One of the must-try in this store is their roasted charsiew side dish! *drools*

C'mon, you can't find a more tender roasted charsiew anywhere except here! Different from the charsiew topping of the ramen, this side dish smells and taste even better!
