Head down to Plaza Brasserie for a Lo Hei session! The lo hei consists of sliced fruits (seems to be the trend with Yu Sheng these days) which makes it taste very refreshing and delicious. Topped with generous amount of salmon (YUM!) and I'm in heaven. The roasted duck and fatty pork is also delish here. Here's my plate with a variety of other food which I grabbed from the buffet counter. Spoiled for choice!

Had a great buffet feast at Plaza Brasserie yesterday. You will be spoilt for choice at all the choices - from Indian curry to Japanese sushi, to Malay and western food. Look at their desserts! And this is only one section. I love tiny desserts in shot glasses. I had the durian shot glass which is sinful and rich. Don't have too many cups of that as you will get a sore throat.

The soft shell crab is a must try! It's crispy and salty and have a slight briny taste to it. They have a mayonnaise dip to pair with the crab. I can just eat a plate full of this good stuff!

The beef rendang is also good. It's not too rich with coconut like some redangs are and the chunks of beef are tender.

Just a short 2 months since Karen invited me for a special themed Crab Feast @ Plaza Brasserie, PARKROYAL on Beach Road buffet, the good people there lead by Executive Chef Jackson Goh recently launched a brand new themed buffet spread!

Besides the usual fresh oysters, dim sum and delectable roast selection...You get to experience the myriad of Thai cuisine at Plaza Brasserie from 5 September to 31 October, as Executive Chef Jackson Goh presents a range of Thai culinary favourites! Relish appetizers that include zesty Thai Papaya Salad, Thai Glass Noodle Salad, Thai Beef Salad, Thai Fish Cakes, Prawns on Toasts and the whole assortment of Tom Yam Fruit Salad, Thai Duck Salad, Thai Seafood Salad, Thai Spring Rolls, Thais Chicken Wings, Deep-fried Minced Shrimps with Thai Herbs!

We started the sampling of the main dishes with the signature Thai Fish Maw Soup. Chef Goh was really generous with the ingredients. The fish maw was nice and tender. Taste of this starchy concoction resembled our familiar Shark Fin Soup and goes really well with a little vinegar and pepper.

Next to be served was the Thai Beef Noodle Soup. The beef slices were not tough and gamey, they went well with the broth laced with herbal goodness.

The Thai Red Curry With Roasted Duck looks appealing but it wasn't exactly up my alley. The red curry and roast duck would have been delicious on their own merit. The combination was just odd for me.

The vegetables in Stir Fried Kai Lan in Thai Style were fresh, crunchy and pretty addictive. I cannot figure where the Thai Style comes in, the cooking seems really Chinese to me...

Stir Fried Minced Pork with Basil Leaves was a little too salty and watery. The minced pork is usually served on top of rice which probably absorbed some of the liquid away.

Back by popular demand is their selection of freshest catch of the day available from Mondays to Thursdays: Promfret, Sea Bass, Kee Fish, and Tilapia Fishes. Chef Jackson Goh will prepare your favourite fishes in one of various styles, which includesSpicy Thai Lime and Chilli, Thai Green Curry, Thai Red Curry or Basil in Coconut Cream.

You can also select your favourite seafood over the counter and have them prepared the way you liked it.

We had our seafood prepared in spicy sambal style.

Of course, there's also the Fried Kway Teow “Phad Thai”, Pineapple Fried Rice with Chicken Floss, Stir-fried Crab Thai Style, Thai Red Beef Curry, Thai Duck Kway Teow Soup, Spicy Chicken Soup, Thai Green Chicken Curry, Deep Fried Minced Shrimp with Thai Herbs and the popular Tom Yam Goong.

If you have a sweet-tooth, savour their range of delicious desserts from Glutinous Rice with Durian Paste, Banana Fritters, Thai Red Ruby with Coconut Cream, Tapioca with Coconut Cream, Assorted Royal Thai Kuehs, Fresh Fruit Platter and Assorted French Pastries.

Crispy on the outside while firm & sweet on the inside, it was tough resisting another one of these Banana Fritters.

It seems like our dear Mango has been replaced. I personally feel that Durian Paste taste fantastic on its own and it may be a little too strong in flavour to act as the accompanying fruit for the Glutinous Rice. Bravo for the Durian Paste, I had many, many rounds of helpings before calling it a day.

If these traditional Thai desserts aren't sufficient to satisfy your sweet tooth, you can always finish off the scrumptious buffet spread with a MYO (Make Your Own) Ice Kacang!

Plaza Brasserie has outdone itself once again with its brand new Flavours of Thai theme. This themed buffet spread is available for limited time only, make sure you make your way down fast! Here are the full buffet details:

Nothing ends off a hard week of work better than a splendiferous night of delicious crabs. Special thanks to Daniel's Food Diary who extended his invitation for me to attend this amazing Crab Fiesta at Plaza Brasserie, PARKROYAL on Beach Road.

For starters, we got to choose from a wide spread of appetizers ranging from Dijon Crab Cakes with Coriander Paste, Baked Crab Shell, Chilli Crab Roll with Vegetables, Crab Meat Gyoza with Dip Sauce, Bread Crab Claw, Mini Crab Meat Samosas, Olive & Potato Crabmeat Balls with Pesto, Crabmeat Paste, Baked Whole Salmon with Spicy Dip to a variety of Dim Sums.
If you are one who prefers a cold start, there's the chilled seafood section with lots of really fresh hairy crabs right round the corner.

You must not miss their huge, juicy fresh oysters that's perfect with a dash of Tabasco and lemon juice. Plus its rumoured to be quite an aphrodisiac.

Enjoy the prawns without accompanying sauces to savour its freshness. It's hard to stop once you start peeling!

Next came the star dishes for the evening, prepared using the humble Mud Crab:

First to be served was the familiar Chilli Crab. The colour was vibrant & looked extremely inviting. The chilli sauce was a little spicy with a tint of sweetness.

Although Chilli Crab is one of Singaporean's favourites, it took a back seat as we got introduced to the other contenders. Stir-Fried Crabs with Spring Onions and Gingermild flavouring allowed us to fully appreciate the natural sweetness and taste of the mud crab.

Stir Fried Sri Lanka Crab with XO Sauce was quite an innovation. The crab meat tasted sweet in general but the XO seasoning was not prominent.

It will take more than high cholesterol to keep me away from these delightful Stirred Fried Crab with Egg Yolk. I stand true to the statement 'Anything goes well with salted egg yolks'. This was my favourite Mud Crab dish for the evening.

Here's Chef Jackson, the man behind all these new wonderful creations with his last Mud Crab recipe for the evening - Butter Crab. To be honest, it was really tough trying to identify Butter Crab & Stirred Fried Crab with Egg Yolk by taste.

How can I not take a photo together with our talented Chef Jackson.

Besides the Mud Crab, the co-star of the evening was the pretty flower crab.

Nyonya Curry Flower Crab was indisputably my overall favourite crab dish for the evening. The spicy Nyonya Sambal was a perfect match for the sweet, tender flower crab meat.

One is never enough. This is a die die must try!

If the crabs were not enough to fill you up completely, you can always pop by the Noodles Section for Crab Meat Le Mein with Miso Paste and Condiments or Braised Tang Hoon with Live Crabs. There's also the hot variety section for Braised Pork Ball with Preserved Vegetable and Taro, Oatmeal Prawns, Stir-fried Chicken in Honey and Sesame, Fried Baby Kai Lan and Crabmeat Fried Rice, Crispy Soft Shell Crabs and Braised Sea Cucumber with Roast Pork and Mushrooms.

Also remember to check out their Drunken Prawns. You can definitely taste the alcohol here!

Their assorted Roti Pratas are worth a visit. I particularly loved the Durian Prata. Just imagine yummy durian pengat spread generously within a nice crispy prata. Heavenly...

The Indian Pastry Chef was friendly and approachable. You can drop by his station any time for special requests like this really colourful paper thin prata!

Last but not least, do not leave the place without trying their famous Carrot Cake. Best part of the cake? The cream cheese icing.

If you love crabs, this is one hell of a buffet that's not to be missed.

i brought my parents and sister to plaza brasserie for a nice dinner. The spread for this buffet was pretty good, they had a seafood spread, where there are fresh prawns, mussels and all sorts of shell fishes. The seafood is so fresh.

They also have shark fin soup. their shark fin soup is very tasty, it is very thick. When you add vinegar, the soup really does taste a lot better.

They also have a roast meat section, I was so glad to see that they actually have roast duck and roast pork. My sister and I really love roast duck, so this was our favourite station. The duck meat were sliced rather thinly. the skin was a little fatty in my sister’s opinion, but I found it ok. The meat was really tender.

Then they buffet line, they had this prawn dish. the marinate they coat around the prawn was very tasty, it made the prawn taste really nice. The prawn itself was very fresh, the meat was very sweet and juicy.

They actually had a prata counter. I specifically love their curry. Their curry was sourish and spicy at the same time. It was not very thick but the flavours were just right. It goes really well with all the prata.

The desserts were pretty unique, you dun really see kueh at other buffet lines. But this buffet actually had those traditional kueh, the nine layers kueh was really good. each layer was very chewy and it was very fragrant. I like their pudding a lot, took quite a number of servings. The pudding is really light, it is not too sweet and it is very creamy. it melts in your mouth when you eat it. The cake was a little too sweet for me though.

I almost forgot about the steamed seabass with cream sauce. The seabass was so fresh, the chef was very generous, he gave us a pretty large piece for the family to share. The meat was so sweet.

We were all very satisfied with the buffet spread and the quality.

We headed for the starters. We feasted more on the starters. The drunken prawns were really very tasty. Then we tried a bit of Sashmi, which was great as well. Loved the Califorina maki rolls. The Tandoori fish was amazing. It was so juicy, spicy and yummy. The chicken was a bit dry. The Pratas were great. There were plain, durian, egg & chocolate pratas. I guess the pratas were a bit dry,due to the aircon. Then we had the Shawarma, with bbq sauce & mayo. It was yummy all the way.The soft shell crab was a real treat and so was the satong. We ate more of the starters & din't really have any space left for main course.
We finally wounded with the wide spread of yummy desserts which had chocolate cake, brownie, rice cake, caramal, marshmellows & chocolate sauce, blue berry cheese cake & so much more. We were so stuffed at the end of it. We loved all the dishes offered at the buffet & would definitely like to try the dinner buffet as well.

I must say that this is considered one of the better buffets I've been to. I love the variety and the quality and taste of the food is pretty good. My favourite of the night has got to be the soft shell crab.

The prata tasted good but I figured it was the aircon that cooled it down too fast, making it rather tough. The local dishes such as the steamed chicken, chili crab, sea cucumber were good too.

I loved the desserts as well. Wide variety and very yummy!

Chef Jackson came a long way having started cooking at the young age of 13 while still in school. His passion, creativity and excellent skills has been widely recognized by the Singapore International Halal Showcase in 2008 as well as Singapore Gourmet Hunt in 2003. He is extremely well versed in French and Asia fusion cuisine.

Created my own cold platter with prawns, mussels, tomato salad and very fresh lettuce. The prawns are very fresh and succulent. The sweetness that comes from the meat of the prawn engulf my entire tastebud so much so that I keep going for the prawns. Took a little bit of sushi just to try the taste. Realized that they don't make a whole lot of sushi and leave them in open air. Rather, they make enough and constantly top them up. Good move coz that way, the sushi remains fresh.

It was totally taken aback when I ordered salmon sashimi and this was served. At most buffet restaurants that I went to, I would get a plate with at most 4 pieces of sashimi and that's about it. But this one, they are really generous. And not forgetting how fresh the sashimi is!!!

The prawn noodles tasted really authentic. The soup was so tasty that I wasted no time in gulping down the entire bowl of soup. As we were told that their signature dish was sea cucumber and soft shell crab, I took some to try. The sea cucumber cooked well. Didn't have the soft mushy feel. Instead, the meat was springy and the entire taste of the sauce had sipped into the sea cucumber making it extremely yummy. The soft shell crab was a little disappointment. I reckon the crispiness was not there because it was left in the open for too long. So the crispiness turned soggy.

Ended my high tea with my favorite tau suan and English breakfast tea. The tau suan wasn't exactly the best. Something is missing and I can't quite pick out with is missing. The restaurant served a whole range of Twinnings and we were really spoilt for choice.

Before we left the place, we were served carrot cake. It was sweet and I like it that they put walnuts on the top of the cake. Didn't manage to finish because well, I ate too much.

This is definitely a place I would go back again.

I was amazed to see the spread offered. There is a Sushi & sashimi counter, Noodle counter, Indian counter (Pratas, tandoori chicken, tandoori fish), Salad bar, Dim sum counter, Shawarma counter, chinese chicken rice and veggies, sandwich mix and match, cakes & chocolate fondue, ice shaved section, ice creams and beverages (coffee, milk tea, Twinings tea bags, milo). I was amazed to see the spread offered. There is a Sushi & sashimi counter, Noodle counter, Indian counter (Pratas, tandoori chicken, tandoori fish), Salad bar, Dim sum counter, Shawarma counter, chinese chicken rice and veggies, sandwich mix and match, cakes & chocolate fondue, ice shaved section, ice creams and beverages (coffee, milk tea, Twinings tea bags, milo). Looking at so much of food, definitely got me confused as to what to try and what not to try :-).
Although those food are not very tasty, and it looks normal..but I really happy see so any food in front of me..

I'm really lucky to be one of the ten OpenRicer who got the invitation for the first OpenRice Tasty Untion (ORTU) of 2012. The best part is we got to feast all we can for free and the fact that Plaza Brasserie is an award-winning buffet restaurant makes me look forward to this event even more. This is my first time eating here and when I got there, I was amazed by the posh ambiance and set up of the restaurant. With such a wide spread of dishes, I really don't know where to start from. Luckily, beforehand, we have followed Karen the MarCom Manager for a short tour. So I started with her favourite and recommended dishes. As they are currently having this Heritage Buffet Feast till 30 April, some of the dishes really are those traditional favourites. Dishes like Braised Sea Cucumber with Roast Pork & Mushroom, Braised Pork Balls with Mui Chye, Soft Shell Crab with Tobiko Mayo. These three dishes are the main highlights! The taste brings back memories of my grandpa's home-cooked meal in the past.

Another not to be missed dish is their Chicken Shawarma. The smile of this lady chef makes her counter very approachable. This dish is rather a great combinations of the crunchy, fresh veggie and soft, tender meat wrapped up together. Tasty indeed.

The salad corner is not to be missed too. With so many different kind of bread and dressings to choose from. My favourite here is the potato salad but be cautious to try small bites only as just the salad can make one quite full too.

Hainanese Chicken Rice is our local delights. The fragrance of the rice with the chicken rice chili, ginger and black sauce is so familiar and so nice.

Don't forget to try their drunken prawn, Japanese Sushi, and the spread of sweet treats available too. The drunken prawn soup is not too overwhelmed with the herbal taste and the Japanese sushi and sashimi are all very fresh. As for the desserts, I guess I needn't elaborate more. Look at the photos, tempting enough?

To end the events, each of us got a slice of their new addition of the dessert lists which is the carrot cake. This carrot cake is extremely moist and full or texture and the cream cheese frosting is yummy. I will definitely plan some of the celebrations at Plaza Brasserie in the near future. Once again, thank you OpenRice and Thank you Plaza Brasserie for this wonderful afternoon of High Tea Buffet!
