This morning the family decides to have breakfast at the coffee shop. There is a number of stalls at the coffeeshop. I decide on Kway chap at the braised duck stall as I have not eaten this dish for a long time. For a one person's serving, it costs $3.50. One can add on duck meat for $0.50 more. The staff will take down your table number as well as your payment for the food. Food will be served to you. The serving is mostly sliced fish cakes and braised bean curd puff. There is also the braised pig's offal but I feel the amount served is too small and tastes a bit dry. There is also braised hard boiled egg and braised tofu which are quite well braised. The dish of flat, broad rice sheets is quite smooth and tasty. Overall still not bad except for size of serving.

After the upgrading, the duck rice stall seem to have changed management as the staffs now wear the same uniforms as those from the chicken rice stall. The duck rice still costs $3.50 but the presentation is much different than before. Besides the sliced braised duck and rice, there also is cabbage, braised egg, braised bean curd in the serving. Overall very tasty and well balanced one dish meal.

Actually, I am not very adventurous when it came to food, but once I discovered a favourite stall, I will definitely stick to it. Many friends told me about the famous braised duck rice here. I have to admit that I seldom eat braised duck, and today I tried it out.It appeared to be ordinary, yet the duck was tender and smooth. On our way to Safra Yishun, my wife and I happened to see this Duck rice stall and decided to try the roasted duck. We waited for quite a while for our order to arrive. We were famished by the time it was our turn. Good thing it was not self service, we could wait comfortably sitting down haha... It was definitely worth the wait... Tender duck meat with crispy skin, fluffy rice with tasty gravy poured over the rice... comes with soup as well.. Must try!

Duck porridge $3 I seldom tried duck porridge so decided to try one. The duck is tender and well braised, and the gravy is nice seasoned. Anyway the porridge is bland and tasteless, and the rice grain isn't that fine and soft yet. Kuey chap $6 for two person portion
The kway chap is more to duck instead of pork base. I can't accept too much of pork intestine and the inner organs but for the duck intestine I am okay. Moreover there are quite a lot of duck meat given, so I don't eat too much of the inner thing. The braise gravy is recommended, very flavourful.

The kway chap came with braised duck, toufu, tou gan and braised egg.

I love the braised duck!! It was well braised and the meat was tender. I love the sauce too!! I love the salty and sweetly taste of the sauce with a fragrance smell of braised duck.

Will definitely pay a visit to the shop again!!

I mentioned to Auntie that someone just eaten recently and posted a review on Openrice Singapore. Auntie repeatedly said it is not available. I was tempted to take out my ipad and shown the review to the Auntie.
I decided to go ahead to order their braised duck set. I attempted to change the yam rice to the fragrant chicken oily rice as recommended by qqmonkey. Auntie gave me the puzzled look, she said they only have the plain rice and yam rice and whether i still want it. I felt a little disappointed and settled for the braised duck with the yam rice for $3.50.
The braised duck duck rice set came with a generous amount of duck meat, tau kwa and half a braised egg. The duck meat has got a distinct tenderness and juiciness. The rice has got yam cubes and shredded cabbage in it. The braised sauce complemented the yam rice, the duck meat, the tau kwa and also the braised egg nicely. The soup that came with the braised duck set has got a slight herbal taste.
I am interested to come back to try their kway chap set the next time.

This stall not only I love to eat their roasted meats and fragrant chicken oily rice, I personally also like to eat their roasted duck necks. This may sound very odd and unsual, but as I love to eat the roasted duck's skin which are very crispy and juicy, the neck portion always fulfilled my wishes as it is full with duck skin and is also not too oily. Eat on its own or with their fragrant rice taste equally delicious!

This stall has been around for a couple of years and the duck rice they serve is quite nice. I will normally order the rice set which consist of duck meat, toufu as well as half an egg. The yam rice is a bit dry and not to tasty. The duck meat is nice and tender and does well with the sauce they drizzle on the rice. The braised toufu and egg tasted average but the braised taste could be stronger.

It used to be one of my prefer choice for braised duck rice in the northern part of Singapore. When eating it today, it did not taste as good as i remember. I did not see the same lady that used to man the stall. Perhaps there was a change of hands and if it is so then that very much explained the significant drop in the standard. I used to remember they served braised peanuts too but there was no sight of it today. A set with braised duck meat, tau kwa and half of braised egg is $3.50. I would

A set with braised duck meat, tau kwa and half of braised egg is $3.50. I would very much prefer to have the duck meat chopped in a much bigger pieces. Nonetheless, this is not the cheaper nor the best braised duck rice but it is still slightly better than the average.

It is still not too bad a bad choice if you are here and wanting duck rice.

Back to the duck rice!

Beside duck rice, this stall sell kway chap too. Majority of the people who eat at this coffee shop usually will go for the chicken rice else the duck rice. Don't worry about the queue as their service is prompt; they have adequate staffs to overcome the demand. It took me 5 minutes only to enjoy the duck rice.

There's cabbage in the rice and the rice is so delicious! The duck meats are slice nicely in a good portion not too chunky and with the sauce that's a combo hit!

The soup is not overpower by herbs, it is refreshing, nice and tasty. You don't even need to order any drinks from the drink stall. This soup can satisfy your thirst!
