This Sushi Tei outlet is quite spacious and comfortable, with really simple and nice furnishings inside.  The service here is very friendly and warm as well.  Was craving for some sushi and decided to buy the Otoro, Uni, Ikura & Negi-toro sushi.  For only $12.80, is quite filling and value for money.  The japanese rice used is not too soggy and quite sticky, which is fragrant as well.  Raw fish used was very fresh and firm in texture.  The preseved gingers provided is appetizing and goes very we

When it comes to Japanese food, one of my favourite venue without fail will always be Sushi Tei. I can always be assured of the quality in the food. Recently i was alone after getting my errands done so i went straight for Sushi Tei as it was the non-crowded timing and i can enjoy my meal quietly. It's such a rare chance to avoid the long queue! Fresh unagi all rolled up with my favourite avocado, this was very enjoyable! Chawanmushi is always a classic choice and with all the beautiful looking roe on top of it, every bite was a wonderful bite of flavours bursting in my mouth!

As a japanese cuisine lover, this is my first time dining in Sushi Tei restaurant at Nex Serangoon Central. I ordered their nabemono, salmon , fried squids as well. The pot consisted of bean sprouts, tofu, green onions, leeks, carrots and mushroom cooked in sukiyaki broth which taste soothing and nice. The beef was sliced thinly and taste tender and fresh.

Made up grilled Salmon on top, it looked very luxury and tempting. Coated with Mayonnaise and Tobiko, the flavour was upgraded. The freshness was obvious. Price at $18.00, it consist of 6 pieces. Feeling satisfied throughout the visit, the price was affordable here too.

The comprehensive menu has photos and description for every single dish on offer. They are having a 'Gastronomer fiesta' special offering designer dishes with premium ingredients. I ordered a premium maki dish from their 'House Specialty' section, two appetizers and one soup to go with it.

Dobin Mushi soup 土瓶蒸し $6.80++. I love this soup, especially when its accompanied with loads of fresh ingredients. There was chicken meat, crabstick, enoki mushroom and kamaboko (Jap fishcake). Soup was sweet, light and flavorful...slurp!

Phoenix roll $18++, served with one whole king prawn, generous portion of unagi and avocado slices, and drizzled with creamy mayo dressing. This dish was huge, with an impressive presentation to boot.

The tempura king prawn was fresh, meaty and succulent, giving the maki an extremely crunchy bite. Coupled with chunky unagi and buttery avocado...it was an utterly satisfying dish. Highly recommended!

Umaki $11++, Unagi wrapped with omelette served with unagi sauce. The omelette pieces were rather large as well. The egg was soft and lightly sweet, pairs well with the tender and juicy unagi slices in the center. Another of my fave.

After having two big portion dishes, I'm almost filled to the brim. Luckily, the Gyoza $6++ came in dainty bite sizes! The gyoza was perfectly pan-fried till crispy with moist marinated minced pork filling inside. This dish should go well with beer. The unusual white vinegar sauce with chili oil was surprising good too.

Service here was prompt and friendly. The ala carte menu is extensive and food quality is good. I think as long as I stay away from the conveyor belt, I'll be fine! Will come back again for more maki..

I have not eaten japanese curry before so I did not really know what to expect of the taste. I would say the curry is rather sweet and poles apart from the chinese curry taste. The curry is sweet and savoury and it is not too thick as well. The chicken is quite tender and succulent and the portion is sufficient for me. There are also carrots and onions which are stewed together with the chicken. These vegetables are soft and mashy and has absorbed the curry flavour after hours of stewing. While the taste is alright, personally I still preferred the taste of the chinese curry, so I will probably not order this in future.

Ebi Maki with Pork Floss $5.20++
This is not nice...the prawn is not crunchy and the rice and pork floss combi is too chewy and dry...doesn't taste fresh at all.

Seafood Rolls $4.50++
This has been prepared and left on the conveyor belt for more than 1 hour! It is super cold and soggy (漏风). It was very hard to eat. In the end I dipped them in the warm soup to make hot

Conclusion: The food on the conveyor belt should be left alone. Order from the menu for freshly prepared food instead.

Sushi Tei is one of the better japanese food chains and offers a wide variety of selection for one to choose from. This time round, I had the nabeyaki udon, which came with an egg, mushroom, fish cakes and fried tempura. The udon itself was tangy and filling, but I didn't quite like the soup base as it was a little sweet/salty and neither here nor there. Serving was quite big for me though.

I love my noodles.... Any kinds in all kinds of cuisine! And Japanese food is always a good choice. So during one of my visit for dinner, i had the cold ramen. Had this a few times already and i like it with the sesame dressing. It's a pretty good portion and they are quite generous with the various toppings. Every mouthful is so delightful after you mixed everything together. And maybe it's cold, it has a refreshing twist to it =)

I was looking to enjoy a good bowl of fresh sashimi and rice, hence, I ordered the salmon don which costs $10.90. The presentation is really pretty with the fresh and bright coloured sashimi slices on top of the rice. While I enjoyed my bowl of salmon don, the proportion is quite skewed. There is far too much rice and too little salmon sashimi. There is only one layer of salmon sashimi slice hence, I guess there is only around 8 slices of fish. Also, green tea is served free here. We initially thought that green tea was chargeable and were hesitant to get drinks. The service staff did not really prompt us about drinks and did not serve us anything, but it was also our fault for not clarifying about the cost of green tea.

I have always preferred Sushi Tei over other japanese food chains like MOF or Sakae Sushi. Sushi Tei serves a huge variety of quality japanese food that makes you crave for more; no surpise, sushi tei is also popular among my friends. I tried the Salmon Mentai with rice; the sauce was extremely delicious - I think it is a combination of fish roe and mentaiko(?). One of the better salmon I have eaten.

My daily transit at nex warrants me to roam about to soak up the air conditioning to prevent hyper-perspiration in lieu of the recent sauna-like climate. It was pre-dinner rush hour and seats a plenty for picking, I casually walked in asking for a seat at the sushi bar.

The season’s menu set my heart racing as abalone & oysters were featured. However, I was advised that the portions are relatively small. Hence, I settled for some picks from the regular menu.

Being the meatarian that I am; fish was predominantly the main event for me Maguro (Tuna) sashimi, Katsuo (Skipjack tuna) sashimi, Tsubugai (Whelk) sashimi; all 3 served up in a bowl with shaved ice in the bottom that regulates temperature; so that slices that enter the mouth at different times during the meal is somewhat consistent with the 1st slice that entered the mouth.

Some prefer to toss & mix the don evenly for consistent tastes, but I prefer the uniqueness in every bite. Gently pricking the egg yolk makes it easier for the minced belly to coagulate, hence easing the picking with chopsticks. Those who find this stunt a little too bold, shall find the Gari (pickled young ginger slices) go well with this ensemble.
Just to finish the meal off, I had to take a plate from the sushi train, what seemed to be Harasu (salmon belly) sushi, because it was a little more buttery than usual salmon sushi.

I suppose this meal can be considered a feast for the average eater, but, I’m also certain this is not the record for the largest sushi meal.

Makis are one of my favourite sushis to order when i visit a Japanese restaurant. This maki here has a thick piece of prawn wrapped between the sushi rice and on top, it is covered with a piece of salmon and some floss. This combination is really unique but oh so delicious. Love that the portion size is bite size and the prawns are really cooked perfectly.
The avocado prawn roll is also very nice and i love the combination of the avocado and the large crunshy prawns. The avocado prawn rolls have a crispy centre due to the fried prawns and the whole roll just goes so nicely with the pickled ginger.
