Didnt know what to eat at CWP and decided to get Yoshinoya. The pork katsu is not very tough to bite into. It was crispy on the outside, and tender on the inside. I also like the sauce which was lathered on top of the meat. Its quite salty and gave the meat considerable taste. If eaten alone without the sauce it will most probably have the fried oil taste. The serving is also just nice, if not for a little small. But for me its just nice.

I am quite skeptical when i see this drink with the little bits in it. Anyway i thought it was mango cause when you think of Sjora, its usually mango drink. The drink is really good! With added texture from the bits. Doesn't taste weird or anything. Good job Sjora!

Wanted a quick dinner but didn't want to have burgers or fries that are the usual at most fast food restaurants so we decided to have dinner at Yoshinoya instead. The branch at Causeway Point wasn't big on space, but there were still several empty tables despite being dinner time, which was a plus for us since we were somewhat rushed for time.

Since I usually order their rice bowl, I wanted to try the Rutan Nori Ramen that I saw on their website this time. But I was disappointed that they didn't have it at this branch. However, we noticed that they had the new seasonal Festive Bowl Set ($8.80) and Festive Combo Set ($11.80) that came with a mini chawanmushi, sjora along with a rice bowl or combo with two choices of meat. I opted for the latter set with a choice of Karaage and Katsu, with Traditional Katsu sauce.

Festive Combo Set: Katsu and Karaage with Traditional Katsu Sauce + Mini Chawanmushi + Sjora ($11.80)

The sauce was poured over the rice instead of being served in a separate bowl as I had expected, but even then, I thought the portion of sauce given was a tad meager. Nevertheless, it was sweet enough for me and I thought it complemented the meat and rice well. The chicken were both very crispy on the outside although the katsu meat was a tad fatty. The karaage fared much better and the batter had a slight hint of spices as well. I personally preferred the karaage over the katsu!

The chawanmushi was smooth and there was a fair amount of ingredients like mushrooms and crab meat in it for such a small cup, but overall, I found this to be an okay.

We also wanted to add a side to share but to our disappointment, most of the sides, like tori nibbles, tsukune meatballs, and gyoza were not available. In the end, we settled for Potato Croquettes ($3.30). No regrets getting this, even though it took quite a while for the kitchen to prepare it. The potato came piping hot and there was a still a slight lingering aroma from the oil after being fried. It was also very crispy on the outside but soft and smooth inside. Yummy!

While the food were pretty decent, I can't really say the same of the service. The girl who took our order forgot to give us the chawanmushi and even lost our lucky draw receipt which she had earlier held for the kitchen to prepare the croquettes. To be fair though, she did take the effort to deliver the croquettes to us when we didn't realize that it was ready for collection at the counter.

Lapse in service aside, I'd still visit Yoshinoya again for a quick Japanese meal. Depending on how light or heavy you want your meal, you can opt to get their Rice Bowl or Combo as a Value Meal set (comes with soup) or Complete Meal set (with soup, side and dessert). Honestly though, I thought that their Combo Complete Meal Set was more value for money than the Festive Combo Set since you'll get more items for just roughly $1 more! Their sides like the Potato Croquette or Crispy Potato Mix are also worth trying!

Yoshinoya is a good place to go for a quick affordable japanese meal. The service is very quick so its a good choice when ou are in a rush. Whenever I visit the establishment, I order the salmon bowl. It comes with a piece of fried salmon patty and steamed vegetables atop a bowl of steaming hot japanese rice, and the whole thing is topped with a generous squirt of mayonaise.

We deviated from our usual order of their signature rice bowls with sliced beef, teriyaki chicken or salmon croquette, opting for the seasonal CNY bento set meal at $8.80, being tempted by the pair of 'sure win' CNY angpow lucky dip. The store was quite busy as it was dinner time, but the staff managed the queue well, efficiently fielding orders & fixing our drinks telling us to find seats as the food will be served within 5-10mins.

Our lucky dip giveaways turned out to be one freebie with a subsequent order of a combo meal ~ appetizer, miso soup, chawanmushi or onigari rice balls. The 350ml cup of iced kumquat drink was refreshing, not citrussy as we had expected but slightly salted. Our bentos were served in disposable trays comprising rice, a portion of Yoshinoya's blanched 'house' vegetables (mainly cabbage & french beans with some broccoli florets & sliced carrots thrown in for colour), two tempura fish fingers, three panko breaded chicken meatballs & just one mochi. Well, the bento looked more promising than it tasted. The tempura fish fingers were crispy on the outside while the fish beneath was soft ~ not bad except that we felt we were eating more batter & mayo than fish. The panko chicken balls stayed too long in the fryer and were tough, giving our jaws & teeth a workout. The chicken balls came slathered in teriyaki sauce ~ which should have gone on top of the rice or veg instead as the meat was seasoned & tasty so it did not need to be topped by any gravy or sauce. Maybe the kitchen staff were under pressure to field the dinner orders quickly....but we really enjoyed the mochi

There was criss cut fries that takes on a waffle like shape and a good change from french fries. The crispy type which can be seen in the picture was somewhat like a patty which was deep fried and came with mixed vegetables and last but not least the yummy potato smiley faces which was my favorite

The platter was served with mayo which complimented it well. It was also very filling and perfect for sharing.

It was also my first time trying Sjora (blackcurrent) which I automatically loved. Great change from soft drinks

The meal costs about $8+ which was a little pricy. It served well as a snack though

would be even better if the beef bowl comes with gravy on top of the beef cos it gets a little dry at times. Still, i love it nonetheless!

The rice bowl i orddered is salmon one, but I think the beef rice bowl which my friend ordered is tastier. The salmon is tender but too normal to be good. The fries is not crispy, and its soft coz not hot already. The drink we ordered is cool, blue in color. Yoshinoya restaurant has a relaxed environment, and the lighting is bright and clear.

When my friend arrived, she was carrying a huge plastic bag. I must say Im really surprised at the packaging. Not sure why, but it brightened up my day (mayb its becos the packaging was colourful). When I opened the takeaway box, I see a myriad of colours too! Carrots, long beans, cabbage, and finally the Salmon with breadcrumbs.
Drink I ordered was ice lemon tea, which required an additional charge of 50cents on top of the usual set price.

The food was warm when I received it.

Salmon and Rice
The salmon was nice, coated with a layer of breadcrumbs and fried. Wasnt oily at all! A nice surprise.
It was soft, easy to chew and swallow. Only thing is that there were too little pieces!
Bcos of this reason, I usually eat the teriyaki chicken rice bowl, which has more chicken and thus more filling (in my opinion.
Scrapped off the mayo on the salmon as I could not take mayo, but I dun really feel it makes any difference to how nice the salmon tasted.
Rice portion wise is just nice for me too.

Veggies
There were carrots, cabbage and long beans, and they were really soft (just how I like my vegetables to be). They add flavour and colours to the whole meal. Only thing was that the given portion is too little for me. Maybe I shld request for more next time.

Overall, quite a satisfying meal for me.
An enjoyable lunch I had!

My Chicken Teriyaki Rice Bowl set came with a lemon tea drink and an extra cupful of teriyaki sauce (which I requested).

The chicken was soft and tender, easy to chew.

There were alot of vegetables this time, usually when I go, there is only a small portion of veggies provided. This time, almost half of my bowl was covered with veggies, which include long beans, cabbage, broccoli and carrots etc. They were steamed I think, as it was not oily, and is also soft to my liking.

The rice was nice, but even nicer after I poured the teriyaki sauce over it.
The saltiness of the sauce goes well with the rice, and I could just eat the rice alone with the sauce after I finished all my chicken and veggies.

A staff who served us at the cashier came to our table when we were eating, and presented us with a card to write our experience. As he was very polite and friendly just now when we placed our orders, we wrote down about his good service attitude.

Overall, a simple satisfying lunch we both had. Fuss-free and reasonably-priced Japanese food.

Served on a bed of fluffy, white Japanese rice. The beef is quite tasty but the tamago does not seem to be fresh. Overall the meal is quite tasty with miso soup provided. I like to eat beef especially from yoshinoya. Eventhough just a very thin layer, you could taste the well marinated beef. Not salty but tasty. The vegetables include french bean, cauliflower, cabbage and carrots. They boiled in water so is much healthier. The rice is soft. This is definitely a healthy diet for all..

This time round, I went alone to Causeway Point to have my lunch as no one cooked at home and my frens were busy. I went directly straight to Yoshinoya, put down my bags on one empty table and went to order my food. It was a weekday so it was pretty quiet; there was only 2 other customers sitting down eating when i paid for my teriyaki chicken rice set. Used my student card so that i could choose the student meal, which was cheaper at $4.95. There were 2 choices for student meal, Choice 1 & 2, where 2 came with a side (tgt with a drink and main). I chose Choice 1, since i knew i had a small appetite and couldnt finish up if there was another side. The drinks available for the set was pretty limited; and all were gassy, which i didnt like. I changed the drink to ice lemon tea, which required an additional 50 cents top-up. Although it was expensive, i just changed it as it would be useless if i ordered the set but dun drink the drink too. :X

The food was served pretty fast, since Yoshinoya's setting was pretty much like fast food restaurants. Went to my table and started eating, but felt there was too little teriyaki sauce given. Went to the cashier and requested additional sauce, and to my surprise i was given a small cupful of it. Thought there would be extra charges but there wasnt.

There were quite alot of veggies and chicken this time i ordered.
The veggies were nice and soft ( i like it this way ), and i finished all of it except the cabbage, which i didnt like (There was a mixture of carrots, long beans, broccoli and cabbage). Not sure whether request for additional veggies would cost more but you can try if you like to eat veggies.

The chicken was not too hard, though there was some fat here and there. The chicken skin was soggy as the teriyaki sauce had been poured over it, but it was still nice.

Overall, not bad, and of cos i would still come here to eat. The food is considered cheap for a 'fast food' Japanese place, and isnt as unhealthy as fast food since rice isnt deep fried like fries.
One thing to note though, you may want to go earlier as the place starts to fill up once lunch time is approaching.
