West cozy Smile Jul 29, 2013

Lot 1 was getting a little boring so my family and I ventured a little further North to Yew Tee. Settled for West Co'z as it looked quite crowded.

This is the LuoHan Vegetables ($10 for small). It contains cabbage, mushrooms, cauliflowers, kailan and carrots. This is a light dish and the oyster sauce wasn't too salty as well. It was not bad.

We also got the Curry Fish Head ($16 for small). There are only 2 sizes so either the small for $16 or large for $19. The curry's spiciness was just nice for my family and the fish was processed well. There was no fish scales. The fish was smooth and glided down my throat. There was also a generous serving of brinjal and lady's finger. Sedap!

banana cake Smile Jul 29, 2013

My family was able to redeem a cake from Bengawan Solo due to one of our relatives' baby shower. We were so lucky! This Banana Cake ($8.80 for a small-sized cake) is sooo good! The cake is moist and full of banana flavour. It is also easy to slice owing to its smooth texture. For $8.80, it is considered affordable for the quality that you get. We devoured this cake and finished it all very quickly. It was great!

Jajangmyeon Cry Jul 29, 2013

This is the Jajangmyeon from Woori-Nara. I find that the quality of the food here has really dropped over the years. Compared with the jajangmyeon from Kim's Family Food (which is just a couple of shops down this stretch of shophouses), this one was so much saltier. If the picture makes the dish look like worms and it seems unappetizing, trust me-- it is unappetizing. The noodles were already soggy when they came and there was very little ingredients in this dish. Don't order this from here!

japchae Smile Jul 29, 2013

When I visit Korean restaurants, I must have Japchae. The noodles are made of sweet potato and it is thicker and much more springy than the traditional tanghoon. I like that this japchae has tons of sesame seed and black fungi. The black fungi is cooked till it is rather soft and the texture of it really blends and complements the noodles well. This can be eaten with spicy soy paste to enhance the flavour of the dish. Love it!

gula melaka ice kachang Smile Jul 29, 2013

Categories : Food Court

This is your typical ice kachang but with a gula melaka twist to it. I saw an uncle eating this and was wondering what it was so I went up to ask him. He said that instead of the usual syrup, he likes to add brown sugar syrup. Sounded interesting so I ordered it. Turns out I like this better than normal ice kachang. The brown sugar and the attap seed gives it a very authentic local feel. As you can see, the portion of corn is quite big and the grass jelly cubes are substantial too. For $1.50, this is definitely value-for-money!
