Oriental pasta OK Jul 16, 2012
Categories : Café | Seafood

The food at MEGAbites Cafe is quite alright in general. But one set back is the atmosphere where you could smell oil in the air, as their open-concept kitchen is inside the cafe, and they do lots of deep-fry in there. Not too impressive. I ordered the oriental pasta, served with chicken cutlet. The dish comes with potato soup, and it costs $5.50. Reasonable price. The cutlet is very crispy outside, slightly too hard I reckon. However, I love the pasta. Very rich tomato paste, and lots of seaweed.

Not bad OK Jul 16, 2012

I ordered the kway chap ($4.50) from this pig organ stall. The flat noodles is smooth and nice in texture. The soup base is alright, you could taste the herbs and spices flavour in it. The ingredients of the dish include the stewed hard-boiled egg, bean curd and pork slices. The pork meat is tender and quite well-seasoned. However, I reckon the egg is not soak in the gravy long enough to absorb the flavour.

Durian cake OK Jul 16, 2012
Categories : Japanese | Bakery

I used to buy the Hokkaido fluffy cake from Bakery Cuisine, and that day I decided to try out something new - the tiny little 'durian' cake. For the price of $6.00, you could get eight of the tiny cakes.

The cake has a fluffy texture too, but slightly on the dry side. The taste has a rich eggy flavour. However the durian filling is too little that disappoints me so much. Hopefully they could be more generous on the durian paste next time.

Buffet dinner OK Jul 16, 2012

We went to Melting Pot for their buffet dinner, and so shocked to see such a long queue on the food area at 6+pm.

The place does not provide a lot of options in terms of their food compared to other hotel buffet. Not much sashimi. However, I find their dessert quite alright. The choices are not too many, but they taste quite Ok. I personally like their cheesecake the best.

You can also make your own ice kacang too, but speaking from experience, the brown sugar syrup is not sweet at all.

Simple dinner OK Jul 16, 2012
Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Dim Sum

Craving for simple dinner, we walked in to Crystal Jade at Clementi Mall and ordered only two dishes. Coincidentally both with eggs. Simmerred seasonal vegetable in superior broth ($12.80) is a good dish on a hot day. The vegetable is simmerred till very soft, and the broth together with egg, salted egg and century egg is good in flavour.

Sauteed shrimp with scrambled egg ($13.80) is a dish that goes well with rice. The shrimps are fresh and huge, with crunchy texture.
