Simple lunch with a surprise OK Sep 24, 2013

Seafood Marinara

Seafood Marinara

Ordered the marinara with pasta fusilli but was served penne instead. Server says it is still pasta and will be a waste if i insist to change it. Fine, i took it as i did not want to wait further.

Price: there is 25% off if you eat there between 3-6pm on weekdays. I was surprised as it meant cheaper lunch than expected. Only found out from the cashier when i was paying as she mentioned my total payable after discount was less than $10. So i asked her what 'discount'? So dear reader, if you have to eat here, make sure you pick this time. No crowd and no queue somemore tongue

Seafood ingredients were not stale but definitely not fresh. There were 2 prawns, 4 clams and 2 slices of squid in my plate. The sauce was warm enough and had small chunks of tomatoes in it.You can tell when you taste them. The penne was not well cooked so i had to chew fervently in case i get indigestion afterwards.

Plus point: there is supposedly free wifi here, only for their patrons. Get the wifi key when you pay at the cashier for your order/s.

Brunch turned lunch Cry Sep 24, 2013

Quarter Chicken with salad

Quarter Chicken with salad

Do not expect friendly and approachable service here. The cashier was not helpful when we asked her what a particular menu selection meant. When asked another question, she got into a robotic tone and told us what was already written on their menu. We can read in English dear cashier. We just want more information before ordering as it was our first visit to your restaurant.

Food wise.. The chicken would taste better without the salty brown sauce. The skin was a little oily but the grilled till evenly brown colour was appealing. Server gave breast meat and we asked if we could have thigh meat instead. She did not reply, and went to toss the breast meat back into the stack of chicken meats and picked a thigh section of chicken, dropped it into the plate and walked to the salad station. We followed assuming that was what we were supposed to do. It would have helped if she smiled.

For side dish, the choice was either chips (fries), vegetables, or salad.

Choice made today was salad. Pasta salad was bland and does not appeal after a bite. Rocket salad was fresh though. So maybe you can come here for salad feast.

You may want to sit indoors here. There were no seats left inside and we had to settle for outdoor seating. The strong winds outside blew our food cold in minutes. Papers and tissues were also seen flying around in the windy environment.

Coffee is horrible. Do not waste your money. There are better cafes within walking distance from here.

What happened here? Cry Sep 24, 2013

They overhauled their menu, and it was not like before anymore...
mushrooms with melted cheese and ham bits

mushrooms with melted cheese and ham bits

This dish is such a waste of time to have here. It would probably taste better if you buy the ingredients and microwaved at home. Much cheaper for sure.

The mushrooms did not have the fungi fragrance that comes with good mushrooms. The melted cheese was watery in texture and we could not taste the ham bits. sad
Chix sausage pork sausage and mashed potato

the chicken sausage is actually with cheese inside. taste was akin to those you buy in supermarkets. pork sausage tasted weird and we did not finish it. so here again, just go to the supermarket to eat such disappointing food.

However, the mashed potato was not bad. seems they used real potatoes and not the powder ones. smile
mad about mushrooms pizza

yYes we were mad to order this other mushroom dish. all mushrooms were overcooked till dried and slightly bitter. did not finish this one either.

Service was acceptable at the cashier.

Seafood Shabu Shabu Set

Seafood Shabu Shabu Set

The seafood ingredients were relatively fresh. However, the size of each ingredient was too small/thin. The salad was average and not exceptional in taste nor freshness.sad

Soup itself was mild salty in taste. After the cooking of the raw ingredients, there was not much of a change in its taste. It did not turn thicker nor saltier.

Only 2 service staff who tended to an dinner crowd on a weekend.

My suggestion will be to skip this place all together.

Dinner time, so there was a long queue. I should get back to eating at off-peak meal times tongue

I was hungry by the time we sat down and took this off the conveyor belt. Scallop sushi was surprising nice, there was not too much sauce and the scallop was easy to chew.

This place serves each dish at S$1.50 and green tea/red ginger slices on free flow mode tongue

not a fan myself. tried it once before at this same outlet and found it rather flavourful. The salad is not like paste as per some other salad sushis at other eateries. can taste the texture as you chew. the seaweed taste compliments the whole adventure.
giant scallop

This is nice. but it is served chilled, so be prepared. chews easily and is fresh to the taste buds.

Really love the burnt smell that floats in the air whenever they are preparing this dish. fish is evenly burnt, and yet soft to the bite. A must try here lol
