Looking at their display of sweet awesome tarts, I wanted to try them all! But at $8.80 each, my bank account didn't concur with my stomach.

They don't serve alot of cooked food, but they do serve some sandwiches and a waffle item.

This was more of a snack sized pie, it's really tiny and for $5.50, I didn't see or taste any chicken or mushroom. Wasn't impressed by this.

I loved the sweet fruits, the strawberries were huge, but to command an $8.80 price tag, it's a bold move! The tart itself was crumbly and it wasn't too sweet. They definitely can make good tarts, I did enjoy it! But will I come back here for this again? Probably not.

Supposedly highly raved about, this was an interesting one, it was chocolate mousse on the inside but it wasn't too dense/jerlat/heaty/"makes you feel like you're going to get a sorethroat". So I actually liked this one, as I normally stray away from chocolate tarts.

All in all, a good place to chill and if you like tarts and have a deeper wallet than your stomach can hold, go for it and try Drips! I know for a fact, I want to try alot more of their tart offerings but I just can't bear to fork out $9 for another one!

Co-owner Alfred Chan went from baking in Shangri-la Hotel to opening a cheery bakery café serving up quality fare in Tiong Bahru. Although Drips is well-known for their tarts and quiche, their tea cakes and sandwiches impressed me enough to revisit trice.
The café consists of 2 sections. If you wish to chill and relax, I recommend seats at the back, which comprises of mismatched sofas and couches. The front portion reminds me of a fun school canteen. Menu is written on a black board and selection changes often. Selection of both savories and sweets dwindle in the late afternoon, hence I prefer visiting at lunch time.
I don’t have close-up pictures of the teacakes to entice you; must try as they are are to-die-for! Pound cakes are so common these days; but I have not encountered any as good as Drips. They are luxuriously dense, amazingly moist and melt in the mouth. My family loves the raspberry cake; we buy a large block each time for breakfast.
Drips’ Iced Long Black ($5.50) is Hubby’s favorite coffee; he never fails to order this. Earl Grey Tea by the pot ($7.20) was satisfactory. There are 2 teabags in the pot, so be prepared to take them out to prevent over-steeping.
Hot Chocolate ($5) was fair; I had better ones elsewhere.
In order to set aside space for desserts, we ordered a slice of Rosemary and Chicken Quiche ($6.80) which was creamy and tasty. Don’t be deceived by the serving, although it does not look big, it’s very filling.
Sandwiches are wholesome and appetizing, prepared with generous portions juicy meat and fresh vegetables, plus a citrus side salad
Virginia Ham Sandwich ($13.80) with Dijon Mustard,
Sliced Corned Beef Sandwich ($15.80) ….
…and Oven Roasted Turkey Ham Sandwich ($15.80) with deliciously grilled capsicum and zucchini.
THIS Chocolate Tart ($6.80) stole my heart the moment I took my first bite. The first thing I do when I step into Drips is to check if this is available, and reserve one before it sells out. Made using high percentage of cocoa, the result is a slightly bitter tart with the ideal amount of sweetness.
Mixed Berry Fruit Tart ($8) was equally excellent. I particularly like the buttery and crumbly tart base, which had right amount of salt. Egg custard was just right-creamy and not too sweet.

At $8, this piece of Fruit Tart is one of my favourite snack during tea time. The café is quite spacious and cooling. The restaurant staffs are friendly and serve my tart to me very fast as well. The tart's crust is very crunchy and not too sweet. Fillings are not too sweet and can really taste the cherry fruits during every mouthful of it. The crust is buttery and fragrant, which is able to satisfy me.

Initially I didn’t pay attention to the brownies which were placed in the counter, but they turn out so good! What I thought would be a dry cardboard like brownie turn out to have a beautiful crust encompassing the chewy fudge interior. This is a definite recommendation.

If you are looking for something savory, you can also opt for the pastries and quiches which are available there

Blackberry & Raspberry Tart - $8.60

They are extremely generous with the toppings! I can't even see the tart fillings! Even though it is slightly costlier as compared to other tarts but the cost of the fruits makes the tart truly worthy of the price paid. The fruits were really fresh and are coated with a layer of frozen sugar (If I'm not mistaken). The tart skin is by far the most unique one I've ever tasted. They aren't your 3 for $3 Egg tart kind of base, these are especially tasty and addictive!! Must try!!

Drips Bakery Café really lived up to its tagline that they specialise in tarts! Their fruit tarts are a must try; do come early so you won’t miss out on any of them! The downside is that they different tarts are available on different days; you’ve got to be pretty lucky for you might not get what you want.

I decided to try them in the end cause they look so enticing, and I didn't regret at all. The crust of the tart was so delicately made and it simply crumbles in your mouth, the taste of the crust with the blend of raspberries and blueberries were divine. Definitely worth the price, and I'll be back for more!

That reminds me, I've got to review on the steamboat place beside them too! Really awesome stuff! But this place may be a little inconvenient if you're not driving! My friend and I had to take a 7-10 minute walk from forty hands!

Tucked in the quiet corner of Tiong Bahru is my regular hideout for me to satisfy my fruit tart craving. Located along Seng Poh Road, Drips Bakery is famous for their fruit tarts that people from across Singapore flock here to grab a slice of it.

That's because, according to Chef Alfred, the master bakery behind Drips, he only bakes 60 tarts a day and once it is sold out, he won't be baking any more for the day. Reason behind is that he only uses the freshest seasonal fruits available so not to compromise the quality of his tarts. Coming from a background from being the head patisserie chef behind Shangri-la Hotel and many years behind many other famous bakeries from around the world, I can understand why his insistence on using the best ingredients he can find.

From the growing popularity of Drips Fruit Tarts since two years ago, word about it has been spread far and wide. I couldn't wait to have a bite of it so I got a friend along with me on one afternoon to savour some of their signature fruit tarts.

First we ordered the Cherry Brandy Tart ($8) which at first glance, makes it so irresistible with the cherries nicely slice at the side with a jelly layer. We took a bite into it and we were surprise how crisp, buttery and fresh the crust was holding that decadent amount of toppings on it. The brandied cherries has a light tinge of sourness yet has a sweet after taste that complements the yummy crust. 2 thumbs up for this delicious goodness!

Being a fruit lover, I couldn't resist not having the Mixed Berries Tart ($8.50) too. With beautifully stacked berries in a circle, it was surely a pleasure to the eye and I believe, to the stomach too! On first bite, the sourness from the black berries hit my sense and the mini prune-like fruit gives off a mellow sweetness. When eaten together with the custard layer that holds the fruits together with the crusty tart layer, it was indeed paradise to each bite. How do you wish to have one of it now?

Being a hot afternoon, I need an Ice Cappuccino ($5.80) to cool myself. I enjoyed the smoothness and aroma from the coffee but a pity there was too much ice cubes in it, causing it to dilute more than I expected it to be and the coffee tasted blend near the end. It is a good note to myself to have non-ice coffee the next time here.

Overall, the I had a great tea time and I have to say that the quality of the fruit tarts lives up to the premium price it commands. Although it is not as magnificent looking as "Fruit Paradise", they do not use cheap, fatty cream to make it pretty and a lot of emphasis is on the quality control and freshly handmade by the chef every day. Nothing will be kept for the next day, making this a good value for artisan tarts.

Service was terrific as the cosy cafe is always kept clean, making it a great ambiance for diners to chill over wonderful fruit tarts that deserves to be praise. I'll be definitely coming back to Drips again to try some of their other seasonal fruit tarts!

We finally made a trip to Drips Bakery after getting over the top obsessed with Windowsill Pies. Well, a tart for a change.

I missed the fruit tart by a couple of minutes and was left to decide between macadamia, plum and cherry.

USA Blackforest Ham Sandwich ($15.80)

It did not quite dawn on us how exorbitantly priced and tragically portioned this was till we had a face off. No bigger than my palm, this sandwich looked as simple to put together as any other sandwich I have made for myself. Saving grace was perhaps their chilled eggplant and japanese cucumbers that gave this a crunch yet otherwise, the nagging thought was I could exchange this for 3 tummy bursting and mind-body-soul satisfying Bahn Mis from Namnam or even 2 gourmet sandwiches from Cedele would have been a better bang of the buck.

Cherry Brandy Tart ($8)

The brandy soaked cherries were bursting with alcohol - at least it made the 8 buckeroos somewhat worthwhile though the rest of it appeared pretty much as an almond cake with a crumble biscuit tart base.

One mentioned that Delifrance could have given a better deal, mmm..maybe?

Iced Long Black ($5.50)

Overcooked beans, the coffee ended up on a sour note.

Service was aloof and detached for most part of the short visit - not quite a place I would return just for service. Maybe it was the end of the day but hey, smile at least! Not hurrying back for a visit so soon, maybe just to try my luck at their fresh fruit tart.

The display counter of their mouthwatering and very visually appealing cakes and tarts first greet you when you walk through the glass doors of the cafe. It is difficult to make choices here because every single baked good is simply a work of art as pastry chef, Alfred Chan had cleverly played with the natural vibrant colours of fruits and condiments to create that final end product that is almost irresistible. So hold onto your purse strings tight! Or you will find yourself ordering everything...

The first we tried was the Cinnamon Pear Tart $7.50 that tasted as good as it looked, if not better. Chunky pear slices that were deliciously sweet, sprinkled with cinnamon spice sitting on a bed of custard and buttery crust. Loved how the overlaying gelatin seemed to tie everything together, allowing you to get a bit of pear, cinnamon and crust all in a single forkful. This was a good tart and must-try!

The Dark Chocolate Banana Tart $7.50 is one for the dark chocolate fans. While the chocolate was a little too strong and intense for me, the sweetness of the ripe sliced bananas balanced out the flavours, making it quite delightful. The dust of cocoa powder and icing sugar over the top was a lovely finish to the overall look of the tart.

I was very intrigued by the Cinnamon Egg Custard Tart $4.50 because of its over-browned top layer that had a bit of a crème brûlée-like consistency without the caramelization. I definitely eat with my eyes and so once I saw this, I knew this shortcrust pastry was coming to my table.

And of course, the coffee drinkers in the gang had to get their shot of afternoon caffeine.

A Skinny Latte $4.80- They were not too satisfied with their roast though and mentioned that, it was unfortunately a miss for them.

The tarts here at Drips are definitely praiseworthy and a cause for a second, third or even fourth visit. But I will be sure to leave some space in my tummy for the savoury items such as the gourmet sandwiches the next time I return!

I heard that the pastry chef from Drips Bakery Cafe was once with Shangri-la. We were fortunate to be able to try the tarts freshly prepared from the kitchen. The mango and blackberry tart cost me $8.00 which i think it’s a little pricey but taking account that they are actually quite generous with the fresh fruits, it’s still reasonable.

When the tarts were brought out from the kitchen, everyone started crowding at the counter and most of the tarts were snapped up in no time.

Drips bakery cafe offers some sandwich choices like Smoked Salmon, Virginia Ham, Vegetarian and Honey Low Fat Ham. For a meat lover like me, of course i opted for a Ham sandwich – The Honey Low Fat Ham. There’s only one option for choice of bread which they call it the “Baked Bread”. The veggies are really fresh and i particularly like how they toasted the tomato to mild warm before serving. And for the bread, the edge of the bread were really crispy and soft on the inside.
