Some hits and misses, which probably also depends on individual's liking, so I shall just list out my favourite items!

The claypot clam porridge was super nice and tasty, with generous serving of clam (at least 8 or 9 pieces), which was perfect for two to share.

I also liked the toasted bread with taro fillings. It reminded me of similar taiwan snack, which was taro filling sandwiched between two butter biscuits. If you order this, eat it when it is still hot so that the toast will be crispy.

The pork belly bun was another hit . The pork belly had a good proportion of the meat and fats, which leave you yearning for more without feeling greasy/guilty. The skin was surprisingly thin and tasted like the char siew bun skin.

Pricing was also pocket friendly. Usually we spent less than $40 for 2 pax, with a very satisfying tummy. =)

Simple snacking here at this famous 126 Wen Dou Sek dim sum restaurant.  Here you can really feel the traditional factors and layout here and the service here is slow as usually served by the old folk staffs here.  Restaurant is warm but still consider quite spacious.  Tried their steam dumplings and braised chicken feets.  Dumplings are filled with generous amount of minced meat inside which is juicy and fresh.  Dumpling skins are soft and moist too.  Chicken feets have been braised till really

We were out of luck and Char Siew Baos were sold out. Having ordered the porridge, let me present you with the Century Egg Porridge. It was served in a cup rather than a bowl with chopped meat and century eggs.

While the minced meat porridge was the downgrade version from the former and served in a bowl. A good stomach warmer and went pretty well before the start of any fried or steam dim sum.

The Chee Cheong Fun is one of the dishes that I like and wont get bored after eating. Its gravy was thick and fragrant topped with fried and spring onion. Freshly made to order, it was served piping hot, the fillings of prawns and char siew were succulent. A different style of Chee Cheong fun, Shorter in length and less oily version. Yums!

No high hopes for Liu Sha Bao, they were ordinary, no oozing effects. Fillings were just plain yellow custards but still its hot for the fillings.

What a sinful meal for a start of the year. Another deep fried stuff, the prawn dumplings. Douse abit of their sweet chilli that packed with prawns paste, it just wont go wrong.

The other dim sum staples tasted pretty average, Chicken Feet, Siew Mai, Siew mai with scallop and lotus leaves rice was pleasant but not to die for.
196 Chicken Feet 鸡脚 - $3
25 Lotus Leaves Rice 荷叶饭 - $3.80
76 Siew Mai with Scallop 带子烧卖 -$5.50
187 Siew Mai 烧卖 - $2.80

And last but not least the total bill for 6 pax.

Overall, I would say their Dim Sum was not that Tip Top Outstanding and rather i find it a decent place where one can hang out with a group especially when hunger pangs in the night.

Also, for their drinks, they used containers instead of usual cups and cans, which is very special. The prices of their homemade drinks are also quite reasonable, ranging from $2.00 to $2.80. As for its Dim Sums, it ranges from $2.80 to $6.00. It also serves Congees and Cze Chars in the evening! Definitely a good place for quality dim sum and food!

Was getting kind of hungry and how happy i was when i saw my supplier bought afternoon snacks for everyone! It turns out to be bao and i was surprised by the weight when i was holding it in my hands. Can't wait to take a bite and i was pleasantly surprised by the generous fillings that was in the bao. There was meat, egg and chinese sausage aka lap cheong. Personally i like it and the skin wasn't too thick. For $1.60 per bun, i think it's worth it for both the quality and quantity.

So popular is this eating place that every square inch of space has to be utilized, with additional tables and seats made available outside the restaurant, out of the aircon. For more comfortable seats, I would strongly recommend heading down to Wen Dou Sek avoiding the peak periods: Before the dinner crowds - 8pm if you want some of the dishes available only before that time, or just the supper hordes who show up from 12-1 at midnight.

The interior of Wen Dou Sek is pretty much a no-frill concept. Plastic tables and chairs cramped as much as they can and in a way, really adding on to the look of feel of any traditional yum cha outlets you might find in HK.

But wait till u get down to the dim sum spread. They might not all wow your pants off you, but there are dishes that I would certainly be going back for a round 2, 3, 4 and more.

Top on my list would be the Chee Cheong Fun. Regardless of filling, be it Prawn or Char Siew, Wen Dou Sek has made a fan of me. Freshly made on order, and piping hot when served, the wrap is silky smooth and both conceal savoury, succulent ingredients that just go so well with the slightly heavier sweet sauce.

I rank this a MUST TRY.

The Fried Char Siew Buns also struck a chord with me, making a deeper impression that their steamed counterparts.

Think fried 'man tou's that you'd go with chilli crab, only crustier, yet retaining that perfectly white and soft bun just beneath the fried skin. This wonderful contrast in texture encases a treasure of savoury char siew in a dark sauce.

In comparison, the other dim sum staples didnt quite make the cut - with the Har Gow, Siew Mai and Liu Sha Bao coming across as prosaic if not quite making the mark.

One of the dishes available only before 8, would be the Crab Meat Fried Rice. Making up what passes for the zi char menu at Wen Dou Sek, they could really add towards a more substantial dinner, but didn't quite do anything for me taste wise.

It's definitely a must to re-visit for me, even if it's just for the chee cheong fun and fried char side buns. You've just really got to try them for yourselves.

One of the must order when we dine at Wen Dou Sek, the Crispy beancurd rolls, the skin is fried till crispy and the prawn they use are fresh and nice. Goes very well with their special chilli sauce. Their chilli sauce is sweet to taste and a little spicy, nice.

I was around Aljunied the other day and decided to have late night supper with my friend at 126, which is open 24 hours; parking is limited though. I tried a couple of dishes like their har gao, char siew bao, but their mushroom siew mai was more unique, and rather juicy and flavouful. The fried prawn rolls on the other hand was a little oily and quite forgettable. Their drinks are served in a container, quite novel. Overall a decent meal, and costs around $10 per person.

The spring rolls were nice and crunchy/soft inside, a pity it is a little too oily.

This area is a little "sleazy" , yet it's best visited at night because everyone seems to be engaging in illegal parking here but within vision. Too much good food and great for people watching too.

I passed by wen dou sek and decided to grab a seat and have a light supper. After browsing through the extensive dim sum menu, I settled on something healthy - their silver fish porridge. It was a rather small bowl but nothing to complain about as it wasn't too expensive at around $3. The silver fish was fried and crispy, which added flavour to the porridge. The whole area was quite noisy with lots of people, and might be hard to get a seat.

Apart from the usual suspects (har gao, siew mai, steamed bao, carrot cake, lotus rice, cheong fun and the like), you can try some relatively unusual offerings such as deep fried intestines, steamed prawns, etc...

The menu is in Chinese so I often end up pointing randomly at the grainy pictures on the menu and hoping for the best. Fortunately, most of the items I have tried have turned out to be quite well-executed. Do not expect the refinement that you get at East Ocean or even Crystal Jade; however, the food here is served hot and fresh and for the price, it is hard to beat...

The porridge (in various versions such as century egg or scallop) is smooth, tasty and definitely worth a try...The crab vermicelli is also surprisingly good...You can taste the sweetness of the crab in the gravy that quickly gets soaked up by the vermicelli...

Another thing I like about this place is that it is in the middle (well, almost) of Singapore's red light district and is an interesting area to have a bit of a stroll through after all the food...
