8Tarts N Pastries uses no lard in the making of their pastries, but if I wasn’t told, I wouldn’t have guessed as it is as tasty as those pastries made with lard. I ordered a box of 6 egg tarts in total, with a mixture of the original egg tart and durian egg tarts. Prices for the egg tart start from $1.40 onwards, which is actually quite expensive since the egg tarts are not very large. However, the taste more than makes up for it. Came across 8tarts n Pastries booth when I am walking around at the mooncake fair. This is the first time I see it on the booth well maybe I am mountain tortise! Realize that they having Durian snowskin too and I am really craving so much of it and decided to get one. Is only $38 for 8pcs of it ..... D24 durian was use for the mooncake. Skin was not very thick generous durian really makes me feel like I am really eating seedless durian instead well is just not enough!

Since this is the mooncake festive season, there are many shops selling their seasonal mooncakes. From traditional mooncakes with yolk to snowskin mooncakes of many different flavours! Personally, i love traditional mooncakes with lotus paste as i like the skin and the sweet filling of the paste However, i dislike the yolk as i find it not to my liking. We have a party at home to celebrate my brother's birthday and one of my sister bought a dozen of the char siew puffs from this pastry stall. The pastry is quite crunchy and baked till really nice golden brown colour. THe char siew meat inside may not be as tasty as what it looks like from the outside. THe meat is quite plain in flavour and are not roasted well. It was alright but nothing for me to look forward to buy back again as the taste is quite normal and not fantastic.

On my way home from work, I stopped by Vivo city to complete some bank jobs. I was hungry so decided to buy something to eat. I went to 8 Tarts & pastries & looked at their stuff on display & picked up a mushroom chicken pie. It was more like a puff. It costed about 1.5 $. It was quite a small puff. The filling was just ok, nothing extra ordinary though. I hardly found any chicken in the filling. All I found was mushroom & potato. Maybe their other stuff like tarts are their specialty.

I went shopping with my mum and we decided to get some snacks to have it with coffee later. We were informed by the friendly assistant of their current promotion. The char siew bun was at $1.00 instead of $1.50. We decided to get a few to go. The bread was a bit too thick to my liking. I only got to taste the filling after 3 to 4 bites. The filling consists of juicy minced char siew. It tasted alright but not too impressive.

Went pass this stall the other day and saw their promotion banner, $1 for all buns, so I decided to give it a try. I bought their durian polo bun and chicken polo bun. Both look good from the outside. However, the taste is a huge disappointment. The durian filling has this fake durian sweet flavour, I couldn't taste any durian pulps. On the other hand, the chicken filling is too salty. Well, perhaps for only a dollar, one shouldn't expect too much.

This stall never failed to produce nice golden brown pastries with quite fragrant buttery flavour in it. However I am not too impressed with their char siew pastries. The pastries are alright, however when comes to their char siew meat fillings will certainly reduced my good impression to their pastries. The meat is quite bland and not roasted to perfection. As I prefer the meat to be pork meat, the chicken meat version here may taste not as fragrant as the one I like too. But I should say

This is my first time trying the pastries from this store. These Portuguese egg tarts are really yummy but they are quite heaty too. The outer layer was crisp and flaky, not burnt at any corners. The egg custard was very soft and at the bottom it became quite watery. The overall flavour of the egg tart was there however, I felt the texture of the pastry could be improved, especially the custard part.
