This restaurant is always crowded, but I am very impressed by how fast they serve the food. We had the XiMenDing Spring Roll ($3.5/piece) as appetizer. Enjoying a day out at Vivo when we were attracted to this rather busy restaurant serving Taiwanese food. Ambience: What impressed me was the dining table - beautifully grained wood and comfortable chairs. Set like a modern Chinese tea house.Food: Ordered the maw soup, lots of maw but was unfamiliar with the taste, probably because I prefer the Cantonese style of maw. Xi Men Di is a 'in-thing' Chinese restaurant that sells all kinds of traditional Taiwan cruisines and desserts. This is very popular in Singapore and long queues are expected during lunch and dinner hours and also during public holidays! Tried their lu rou rice and taste really like 'mum's home cooked food'. There's not much queue so i decided to go for a try. I had their yam paste. As you can see, it is rather watery. I find it is quite dilute to my liking. It is topped with a fair bit of coconut milk. Too little! Overall taste, i didn't like it at all. Pretty disappointed. Service wise was not too bad though.

Ringgggg.......Hearing the name of this restaurant brought back memories of my trip to Taipei with my beloved gF. Promising to serve authentic Taiwan local food, we decide to give this a try.Unfortunately, not the best and closest taste of Taiwan that we had or anticipated, however its still a thumbs up for them on their service attitude and cleanliness.For those who has yet to land their taste bud on authentic Taiwan food, this outlet may be a decent start to it!
