There are 2 doors at this dessert place. The sequence for diners is to queue at the 2nd door first (not the cashier one) to wait for seat allocation then queue the cashier queue door for ordering. Fortunately its a dessert place, turn over is quite fast and we did not have to wait long for a seat. Order the safest item, yang zhi gan lu (pomelo mango sago) which cost $3.70. Ah Chew dessert is usually very very crowded on weekends. That's why it takes a strong yen for Chinese desserts for me to head there to eat. As expected, there is a long queue so do expect to wait. The tables are traditional wooden Asian inspired design so it felt a bit like sitting in a (crowded) Chinese tea house. I had the yam sago dessert and this is one that I would recommend sharing if you just had a big meal as the yam is rich and added with the sweet sago coconut liquid, it's quite filli

I never fail to order its mango pamelo with sago dessert. It's very cooling with small ice cubes and make it so shiok to drink in hot day. I have order this dessert with additional yam ice-cream. Damn nice! Makes me feel like going back to Ah Chew this weekend as the weather is hot nowadays! After meal hours, usually at night the queues are long. So be prepared to wait during those hours.

To satisfy the sweet tooth cravings of their patrons, their opening hours can be extended to quite late or until their hot dessert is sold out.

Was there near to 11pm and the place is nearly filled up even though it is a normal weekday. Ordered the big bowl of almond paste ($2.80) and was surprised that it is filled up to the brim, compared to some places outside which is only 3/4 filled.

I like the texture of the almond paste when it is served hot. Thick and creamy and is not too sweet. However, after a while when the almond paste has drop down to normal room temperature, it sort of become watery. So I guess you have to eat really quick to prevent the paste from become watery.

After having lunch, I still have some space for desserts. Walked down Liang Seah Street and I was surprised that Ah Chew Desserts was not crowded. I accepted the invitation, ordered black glutinous rice with vanilla ice cream and peanut paste. I was quite impressed with the black glutinous rice dessert, I thought the vanilla ice cream was a good, healthy and bold substitution for coconut milk.

After dinner, I had mango sago for dessert. this mango sago is very rich in mango flavour!~ Every poon, there will always be plenty of sago in it. When you put it in your mouth, the sago seems to have the mango taste too. And, when it slipped down your throat, you will feel like keep wanting to eat more as the mango do not make you feel tired of it. It seems to make you more hungry! There is still more dessert there. Try it~

Ah Chew Desserts at Bugis street is the best place for supper if you are craving for desserts. As usual, the place is flooded with people at 11++pm. Goes to show how good the desserts must be right. The queue for seats at that time is really long. I ordered mango sago (my usual love) and it tasted heavenly and refreshing. It is neither too sweet nor too bland and the mango serving is generous. This is highly recommended!!!

Decided to not go for their mango sago. I went for their watermelon sago instead. It is really cooling to savour on such dessert in such a hot weather. Didn't like those small ice cubes in it though. At times i did accidentally swallow on a few or else i have to bite them. Seriously, why don't they use shaved ice -.- This dessert is not too sweet and is refreshing. Not exactly the best but still not too bad.

I met up with some poly friends at night for a catch up session. All of us are either busy with work or school so it's really hard for the four of us to meet. That night after dinner we went to Ah Chew Desserts at the nearby Bugis area. It's always packed in both sections (the old and new space). But you'll just have to inform the staff if you really can't find seats and they'll put you sort of in the queue. But you'll just have to inform the staff if you really can't find seats and they'll put you sort of in the queue. Luckily for us we manage to grab a seat but its near the entrance, oh well better than nothing! We had the red bean soup, watermelon and honeydew sago (mine), mango pomelo sago and lime aloe vera. I love the wide range of desserts at Ah Chew and its one of the rare desserts place where i'll try something i usually don't! I also think its a nice touch that they put the menu other the glass table so it don't get lost?
Anyway back to my watermelon and honeydew sago, i love that its sweet! The dessert itself plus the fruits and the sago is so chewy
One complain, too small portion bigger please, i always finish and keep wanting more

My favourite dessert here is their cooling honey guiling gao, which is also known as the herbal jelly. It is full of the goodness from the guiling gao powder and the sweetness from the natural honey. It is quite solid and compact, but every mouthful of it is so smooth and sooth your throat. The feel of eating it is just like eating a very chewy jelly, but this piece of jelly is full of nutrition value which is very good for either the young and old to have.

My gf brought me to this joint for an after dinner dessert. We sat inside and it was so cramped! Perhaps desserts shops are meant to be like this so people will not sit around for too long ;) Noticed many people who sit around with their almost empty glass or bowl, so they must have liked it The desserts we ordered were mango sago and we shared. It is so only, but it costs $4.50. Not very worth.

This time I tried the Beancurd with ginger which comes in a bamboo pot, eaten with a wooden spoon. I liked the ginger flavoured Beancurd, however, my companions found it to be an acquired taste. Other dishes we sampled were the mango ice - refreshing but a little too sweet, and the sesame paste - too watery for my liking.
