I ordered the steamed milk, instead of what I saw that most people were ordering- the assorted hot dessert pastes: sesame, walnut, almond, peanut, etc.The steamed milk here didn't taste like any ordinary bean curd, though it's not supposed to be. In fact, it tasted like real silky smooth milk pudding that tasted so unique and silky with every spoonful. It's like hot milk steamed till it turns solid.A must try.

After dinner, we decided to have some light Chinese desserts and headed to Ah Chew Desserts upon my friend's recommendations. I ordered the steamed egg custard which was deliciously smooth and creamy and had just the right amount sweetness! A perfect after dinner snack. My friend ordered the white fungus soup which was really cooling and good for the throat. I liked how clear and refreshing the soup was!Overall, a great place for some affordable, authentic Chinese desserts!

Chinese desserts have always been my favourite. I love the almond, walnut and sesame paste especially. I was at Ah Chew desserts at Liang Seah Street where they are famous for their desserts. I ordered the combination of walnut and sesame paste. It costs around $3 per bowl which I think the price is average. The taste of the paste was smooth and it was not too sweet either. I will come back for more of it.

This time i tried something new instead of their popular mango sago. I had Ginko Barley and Bean Curd Skin. I heard that it helps to improve and whiten skin complexion. Wonder how true. Anyway, the taste was alright, not too sweet or bland. I like the bean curd skin but they were too small that i can't really taste them. There's also a generous amount of Gingko nuts which are soft and sweet and lots of barley in it. Overall, not too bad but i still prefer mango sago!

Their most famous and popular dessert are none other than their Mango sago pomelo. I love the additional of pomelo as mango sago is sweet and pomelo gives a tinge of sourness. This combination is perfect. The mango are fresh and sweet, sago are soft and the juice are smooth and rich! Delicious cooling dessert in this kind of humid Singapore weather! Absolute heavenly!

Walking along this Liang Seah Street, it's not difficult to find a dessert shop but this is the most crowded with the longest queue of all so we decided to eat here. All three of us ordered hot dessert. Mine is ginkgo barley with sweetened bean curd , and the other two are my colleagues. This is one of my all time favourite which I would ordered from other dessert stalls too. The sweetened bean curd is soft and smooth and the barley is chewy. Together with the ginkgo which is said to an effect on the regulation of urination, this dessert is rather nourishing.

However, we were disappointed with their peanut paste which is too watery and not thick enough.

The yam paste with sago is so-so only too.

I also tried the mango sago as my friend who is eating this is sitting beside me, so it's easier to 'steal' one spoon. The mango pieces slide down my throat and I can't resist the thought of taking one scoop of soup after another.

I'm looking forward to going back to try other desserts!

This is so far the best mango sago i've ever had. Mango is sweet and the soup is tasty, soothing and cooling. The sago itself is very soft too! The only irritating part is that there are small cube of ice in it. It's so difficult to chew when there are ice cubes! Sometimes i even end up chewing on the ice. OUCH! But i went another time, it was shaved ice instead of ice cubes. That is perfect! I hope they will stick to shaved ice instead of ice cubes!

The mango dessert is really famous at Ah Chew. They are not stingy about the amount of mango that they put in, so it's really sweet, cold and yummy! However, it can be quite heaty, so it would have been better if there was a glass of ice water. I have also tried the peanut paste, and it's not too sweet, and the paste is not too thick, which is great, because peanut can be quite heaty if the paste is too thick. The consistency is just right! Overall I must say that the experiences there are quite pleasant, and they serve your dessert out pretty fast. But it's often packed, so if you're going there in big groups, remember to go there earlier or during lunch hour.

The best dessert place in Singapore.

I usually goes with Mango Sago with Pomelo.

The mango topping is ample and the taste is really rich. You can really taste the fresh, sweet mango used. The pomelo gives a little tinge of bitter in the taste of mango sweetness.
You should also try without coconut milk as this will brings out the sweetness of the mango even more.

I also tried their special: Durian Yam Sago. It comes in a huge bowl, you can really see the durain paste on top of the yam. The durian is cold and fresh while the yam, again, brings donw the rich taste. A beautiful combination.
I hope it will make it to the menu permanently.

the nicest mango sago i have tried is at ah chew. u can choose to add ice cream or not, but i always do. the vanilla ice cream really goes well with the mango dessert. when the ice cream melts, it adds a milky taste. yummy!!!the almond paste and sesame paste is also a must try!!! despite the colour contrast both taste really rich and thick, something that most dessert stall lacks.
