On a very hot summer, it is very nice to have dessert after getting around Bugis for shopping & sightseeing. I have no other choice of place to have dessert. It must be in Ah Chew Dessert. i always choose to sit inside for the air-conditioned side. We just have to pick the dessert that is printed and stick in the glass table and write it on a piece of paper then go to pay the bill then the dessert will be delivered to our tables. On a very sweaty day, I will always order Honeydew&Watermelon Sago (Cold). A mix of green & red colored fruit blend in a coconut + milk sago. it is a really refreshing dessert to have. if you preferred Chinese kinda dessert, i would go for Almond paste with Riceballs or Black Sesame with riceballs. It is nicer to add the riceballs so that it won't too overwhelmed with the paste only. For mango lovers, you can choose mango sago which is filled with mango fruit & mango paste. another choice that I would suggest is the steamed egg&milk. it is nice to have the cold or the hot one. It is almost the same as the ones I had in HK. Pretty nice one.

Sometimes we have to queue for a while, but no worries. It wouldn't take a long time as the tables are quite a lot since there are quite lots of tables and the turnaround is quite fast. A very recommended place to have dessert.

Ah chew dessert is one of my favorite place for some traditional dessert. even when the shop is nearing to their closing time, it will still be bustling with fellow diners. After a long Karaoke session it's time to soothe the throat with some desserts from Ah Chew Dessert @ Liang Seah Street. We ordered the Mango Pomelo Sago and Watermelon Sago! There is a nice Chinese decor, cute small orient chairs and table in the cafe. There is always a long queue during weekend nights. I think the dessert contained sour mango and bitter pomelo But at least I know they used fresh fruit and not canned fruit. The watermelon sago was rather watery and cloggy.

Ah Chew Desserts is the place to go after dinner in the Bugis area. Their small serving size make it possible to stomach a bowl by myself even though I am super full. There was a crowd when I went on a Friday night, and I had to wait for a while before I could get a seat. Ah Chew Desserts eatery sells wide varieties of desserts at a pretty affordable price. I have ordered this Sesame Paste at this Ah Chew Desserts eatery and it was up to my expectation since the Sesame Paste was neither too thick or too watery. It tasted just nice and it smelt fragrant as well. However, the table in the shop is rather small and the queue was pretty long so it wasn't a good place for chilling since we can't stay long at that place.

Ah Chew is very popular among my friends, together with Ji De Chi, and we will definitely drop by one of them when we meet up in the bugis area. This time, I had the grass jelly and added a scoop of ice cream - ice cream was your normal vanilla ice cream, and the grass jelly was smooth and icy, a very refreshing dessert. We also shared the durian sago which was very creamy and rich. The watermelon sago was average.

Whenever I am in the area, I will make an effort to walk to Ah Chew for their desserts. Ah Chew and Ji De Chi across the street are 2 stalls that serve good chinese desserts in Bugis. Having tried the mango pomelo dessert from Ah Chew before, I decided to try their durian sago. Durian puree was thick and very flavourful, but after eating half of it, one could not help it but feel "jelat". Best to share it with a few friends.

Another is having honeydew sago ($3.30) with a topup of $1 for a scoop of ice-cream. Very big bowl. Feel that with the additional of ice-cream, the dessert becomes even creamer and thicker in taste.

Very crowded and noisy, one may need to queue up for a table. But you will get a table very fast. Tables are clean up very fast, but not very well done as we could see a number of ants making their ways around the table. Order is served very fast after ordering. Wide variety of dessert.

Ah Chew is the place to go for affordable and delicious desserts on a hot day. Have tried the mango pomelo sago many times and I've always liked the pomelo and mango bits, and the thick mango puree. Also tried the aloe vera dessert which was very refreshing and thirst-quenching. All desserts range from $2-$4 with additional charges for toppings like ice cream or glutinous riceballs for hot desserts.

My bad anyway came at the wrong timing.

This time is still crowded, the staff were kind enough to help us out to find a comfortable place for us to dine.
As always, im prepared to get what i have always wanted! Cold Steamed Milk Custard! (I think) My dear friend here goes thru the menu like its a life and death contract. Cant blame him. Too much to choose from.. So finally settled in with the Mango Pomelo with Vanillla Ice cream..Love the steamed milk.. was really smooth and silky just the way i like it. The Mango Pomelo was good too. A tad sweet for me but it was refreshing on a hot sunny day!

Why didn't i came back sooner??!!

The Mango sago is thick and sweet, while the sago is really very nice and blends in well in Mango Sago. However I don't really like their pomelo because it has a ting of bitterness in it.

Remember to choose the right time to head down if not it would be quite packed during peak hours.
It's the right place for some old school dessert enjoyment with friends and family.

We are spoilt with choice after reading the menu and the helper doesn't really hurry us to make a choice fast and instead she is quite patient and let other customers first. They handled customers well!

Ambience
Usually pack with long queues. There are helpers to assist customers to queue properly outside the shop and does not block the passage way. Fast turn over time in the restaurant usually.

Price
Relatively reasonable price as the food they provide are refreshing. Worth the time to queue and the calories, definitely!

Tips/Recommendation
Almost all dish is good. Just try it!
