The small pieces of rice noodles in the sweet herbal broth kind of reminding one of kway chap. Remember to give it a stir before eating as the chilli powder was in the bottom.

Crispy Banana Balls with stuffed Mozzarella Cheese & Honey

Took quite awhile to be served. It was very hot. While it was crispy outside, inside was packed with molten cheesy filling. It was not too sweet or oily. Remember to drizzle some honey on before eating.

Overall the food was good. The restaurant was a tab short handed during the peak lunch hour, when the restaurant was full. One may had to wait awhile for the food to be served.

Serving up Fried Rice at first, presentation was an earthen looking bowl. Fluffy rice with strong taste of Pineapple aroma, cashew nuts and papaya salad were putting aside as dressing. Price at $11.50, the portion was rather generous. Tom Yum soup was the must-order dish, spicy and heavy enough for my liking. Salivating bowl was priced $7.90, quite a worthwhile cost. We ordered for side dish as well, Bangkok Mixed Grill was symphony of baked Squids, Shrimps, Beef and Chicken in single plate. Nothing beats, Seafood or Meat were all fresh and tasted awesomely with the arrival of special Thai sauce. It was not cheap, price at $23.00. Having to say, the relaxing and comfy environment made me feel like staying longer to continue our girl’s talk.

The interior of the restaurant has a warm and cosy ambiance thanks to the wooden setting among dark wall, giving customers a welcoming yet intimate feel. Although I sat at one of the corner near the entrance, the restaurant was very noisy as more diners stream in during the lunch hour and makes it difficult to speak to my friend without raising my tone of voice. (Side note, this place is not suitable for lunch meetings!)

Feeling humid in the afternoon heat, I started my meal with a glass of Lemongrass Tea ($4.80) which was light and refreshing. I thought the flavour of lemongrass could be stronger but I could make do with this glass as they didn't add in too much ice, which thankfully didn't dilute the uplifting fragrance of the tea as it melts.

Coming to the mains, I usually love my Stir-fried Minced Chicken with Basil ($11.90) not too spicy with a powerful punch of basil. Without specifying it to the waiter, they did it the way I prefer! Mildly spicy with a good douse of basil accompanied by juicy essence of chicken that goes very well with the steamed white rice! The only thing I didn't like was the egg being overcooked on 1 side as I love my sunny-side-up egg yolk runny. However, it was very delicious in flavour and generous in portion yet not overly oily compared to another Thai chain cafe belonging to a local celebrity.

Browsing through fellow OpenRicer's reviews, I read that most of them enjoyed the Banana Tempura with Hot Caramel Sauce ($9.90) so I thought of giving it a try. When it was served, it certainly looks a lot like the glam-up version of our local goreng pisang. Topped with raisins and drizzled with good o' caramel sauce, the piping hot battered banana slices were oh-so-decadent when eaten with the ice cool vanilla ice-cream. Heavenly yum!

My overall dining experience at Bangkok Jam was pleasant with nice food but their service could be better improve as it took a long time for them to serve the food. It took 10mins for my friend's main dish to be served and another 10mins for mine to be served. Imagine the awkwardness in between. Apart from the long waiting time, top it up with the noisy ambiance, this place isn't a good choice to have lunch meetings at all.

I recommend you to visit if you have the extra time to dine and do not mine the crowd. I hope their service will be better at their other outlets.

First time trying Bangkok Jam thanks to Pauline for directed us wrongly to the wrong level! As usual we like to share food cos sharing of food meaning we can have more variety!

We ordered Seafood Phad Thai ($11.90), big prawn, squid was serve and with chilli, sugar and peanut crush on the side. Sweet and a little spicy, nice dish!

Thai Olive fried rice ($11) one of my favourite dish of the night! I love the way the present this dish .... the olive smell was so nice and bits of salty fish can be tasted when you are chewing the yummy rice!

Asparagus with Sambal ($11.50) crunchy but I find it not spicy enough more like sweet chilli was mixed instead of sambal!

Fried Chicken wings with fish sauce ($9.50) a bit disappointed with this dish cos the chicken was very bland not much taste of it and I feel that the chicken was kinda small so one bit can feel the bone skinny chicken I guess!

Lemongrass Prawn cake ($9.90) another favourite of the night.... the paste was wrapped around the lemongrass seems like a drumstick to me! Each bite can taste the thick paste and with corn mixed inside. Love this very much shall order more next time when I am there again!

Seafood clear soup ($7.90) not very spicy but is really nice with fresh prawn, fish and squid and nice bowl they use to present this dish!

After the meal we still have some rooms for dessert so we ordered Mango Sticky Rice ($8.90), Red Ruby with coconut ($7.50) and Banana Tempura with hot caramel sauce ($9.90). Mango was sour so it goes well with the sticky rice and coconut milk. Red Ruby was serve with jackfruit first time I see this presentation cos usually is only red ruby with coconut milk. This combination was good as they served coconut ice cream with it as for Banana Tempura serve hot with ice cream ... the balancing of this dessert was heaven but I find the banana too sweet!

Overall is a pleasant dining experience great to have my sistas dining together with me. We spent $123.95 in all!

The newspaper style menu...very 'American diner' style presentation. The food selection was kinda limited, only a handful of dishes for every category. 3 of us managed to picked a soup, an appetizer, 2 carbo dishes and 2 stir-fry dishes to share.

For drinks, I had the Blended fresh coconut with a scoop of ice cream $7.00++. How did they justify that hefty price tag? First, the coconut flesh was scrapped off and dropped into a blender with ice and coconut ice cream. The result is an amazingly refreshing ice blended coconut drink! It has full flavored fresh coconut taste and creamy texture of an ice blended drink at the same time...topped with another scoop of coconut ice cream to replace the whipped cream, its the best drink I had in local Thai restaurant!

Seafood Phad Thai $11.90++. The serving was kinda smallish. We liked the fact that they do it the 'Thai way' by serving the sugar, chili flakes and crushed peanuts on the side. It is a pretty nice dish though, sweet and tangy with huge sized prawns and squid slices.

As the main dishes portions were rather small, we still have some space left for desserts!

Red ruby with coconut ice cream $7.50++. This was yummy, the red ruby and jackfruit was served with coconut ice cream instead of the usual shaved ice which provides a more rich and creamy texture. The jackfruit was very sweet, we like!

The star dessert of the day was the Banana tempura with hot caramel sauce $9.90++. The banana was uber sweet...even sweeter than the caramel sauce, so the vanilla ice cream plays a very important role here to balance out the sweetness of the banana. The warm banana pairing with the cold vanilla ice cream is a match made in heaven!

Overall dining experience was good, the food quality was above our expectation albeit being smallish in portion for most dishes. Service staffs although not very smiley and warm but was polite and attentive, they noticed that we only ordered two mains and two stir-fry dishes for 3 and provided us with plates for sharing the dishes. Price wise was on the high side, but considering its location in downtown Orchard, we think that it is still worth a revisit.

I'd heard good stuff about Bangkok Jam, and thought I'd get reasonably decent stuff. Like Thai Express, which serves similar stuff at the same price points, I'd expected simple Thai fare, no-fuss and homestyled. I thought it was a good sign that it was a full-house on a Friday night, with a seemingly never-ending queue outside. But that turned out to be a fake-out. The food was lackluster, with very few barely passable dishes, and the price tag not commiserate with the quality and value. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes. Maybe the chef was having a very off day, but it was one of the most unforgettable meals I've ever had. Because it was just so bad.

Service that night was also frantic and frazzled. The staff were clearly stressed to their limits and unable to handle the full-house. They were nice enough, once they stopped zipping around to take orders, but their ragged harried mannerisms made it obvious that they were so understaffed. In comparison with Thai Express, which serves similar stuff, my take is that you're much better off at Thai Express instead.

We had:

1) Por Pia Tod ($7.90) deep fried spring rolls with Vietnamese dip were unimpressive and generic, like those frozen ones that you get from the supermarket. The spring roll skin was too thick and the fillings too stingy.

2) Khao Tang Na Tang ($7.50) rice cracker crisps with mild chicken pate. One look at the dip and I wasn't impressed. It looked dull and insipid, like it'd been sitting out for waaaay too long. True enough, it tasted just as bad, if not worse. It had a sour rancid taste, and smell, and I spit it out and had to rinse my mouth out after a mouthful. Not very ladylike, I know, but it was just awful. This alone would have made the entire dining experience horrible. The rice crisps were hard enough to chip a tooth, it had been re-fried to a solid rock-hard finish.

3) Goong Pun Tak Rai ($9.90): lemongrass prawn cake skewers was the only passable dish. The prawn cakes were juicy and fresh, not the best around but it was alright. I liked the unusual addition of sweet corn nibblets.

4) Kai Jiow Poo ($10.50), fried omelette with crab meat, while flavoursome, was a wee bit too salty. That said, if paired with plain white rice, this would have been half-way decent

I was being warned by my personal food nazi that this place serves over-priced thai food, but still I went ahead with a friend who wanted to try the food there. We ordered quite a bit of food - Green curry, tom yum goong, pad thai, minced basil chicken, soft shell crabs. The soft shell crabs is nice, but try to finish it when it is still hot - once it's not it will be very oily. Tom Yum Goong taste refreshing and not that spicy but very over priced for a small bowl of soup. basil chicken is not spicy and a bit salty. My friend had the pad thai and she likes it though.

Total bill came up to nearly $80. Portion is not even for one IMO and I think I will try to avoid this place next time. I had better and cheaper thai food somewhere else.

Oh, and the service was slow too.

Ba Mee Poo.

That's not me making funny noises or just having verbal diarrhea. In fact, that's the name of the dish I had at Bangkok Jam at Wheelock Place, translating loosely from Thai into Stir-Fried Egg Noodles with Bacon and Crabmeat.

The saying people have about bacon tasting good with anything is really hard to contend with. The fried bits of bacon lent a certain element of luster to the dish and together with the unique taste of the egg noodles as well as the chunks of crabmeat, culminated in a very savoury dish. My only complaint would just be for the size of the serving, which seemed quite lacking.

And in the true spirit of #MakanHunt-ing, I have spotted the next dish that I would like to try at the restaurant: Bangkok Jam's signature beef noodles!

I ordered their Signature Beef Noodle Soup, after contemplating for quite awhile on what to order as most of the food in their menu seem rather appetizing. The Signature Beef Noodle Soup cost $13.50. When my meal came, I was pleasantly surprised to see such a unique bowl and layout for a bowl of beef noodle. On top of it, the soup aroma was quite strong and it smelled nice. Needless to say, the soup was simply delicious. To top it off, it also came with quite a lot of beef chunks and beef slices

When my meal came, I was pleasantly surprised to see such a unique bowl and layout for a bowl of beef noodle. On top of it, the soup aroma was quite strong and it smelled nice. Needless to say, the soup was simply delicious. To top it off, it also came with quite a lot of beef chunks and beef slices. I would say the beef portion was quite generous.

I am simply impressed by the tasty and yummy soup, tender soft noodle and huge generous portion of beef that tasted delicious too. I would strongly recommend this dish to anyone who loves to eat beef. I would certainly return to eat their Signature Beef Noodle Soup in the future.

On a side note, their waiters were very polite too and the restaurant was quite clean and huge.
