Nicely decorated with sugar-carved figurines and balloons, resplendent of romantic red-and-pink themes suitable for Valentine's Day, we could see that we were not the only ones eager for celebration at this new cafe. Many well-dressed couples were already at the door, lining up when we got there at 6.30pm.

We started with appetizers like salad and seafood and slowly worked our way through the Japanese delicacies and Chinese dimsum items. The spread had quite a few variety and assortments of items - typical buffet items. We dined to soft music playing in the background, and rather good service of the service crew who constantly came to check if we were good with our food etc.

I could not resist desserts of course - and they had plenty of cakes and chocolates decorated in lovely heart-shaped themes as well. Needless to say, these were very sweet endearments and the perfect finish to a savoury dinner.

- The food served were delicious and fresh.
- There was even a kids-section to educate and entertain kids. On this day, there were cupcake-making session and balloon-sculpturing session. This keeps the kids engaged and entertained.
- Staff were prompt in clearing used plates.
- Value for money.

Not-so-good:
- Occasionally, some staff were over-enthusiastic in clearing half-eaten plates.

Overall:
Will return again in future. A good place to celebrate children's birthdays and for huge gatherings. Will definitely recommend to friends.

I had a stay-cation with my friends over at Carlton Hotel and we woke up early for our complimentary breakfast! There served a mixture of both Asian and Western food. From the Western side, they have pancakes, omelette, bacon, sausage, hash browns etc and also a salad bar. The Asian section offers congee, steamed dumplings, beehoon etc. My favorite is the lotus paste pau! There is also a pastry counter, where you can a small range of muffins, buns, cakes etc.

To save my stomach space, I skipped the salad bar, tried the sashimi and prawn. They were fresh and nice. I took some sushi, average. Next I had the cooked food, not very impressive. Most tasted average. The stir fried vegetables, less taste and finally is the desserts. I love tiramisu but I got very disappointed here. Not up to my standard, the desserts were all average. The best I think is the black forest cake.

We had vegetarian in the group. The hotel can arrange such that they will prepare a set of vegetarian meal for the guest. You can choose either fried rice or noodles. We chose noodles but on the day we had dinner, we found that they actually served Indian Vegetarian - the curry paneer with prata. Tasted not bad too

Went for the UOB card member 1-for-1 dinner buffet and was treated with an international fare of fresh goodies.
The seafood section had oysters, salmon, mussels and prawns, and were all relatively fresh. It had me going back for several more servings. The sushi was the same tamago, corn, crabstick and maki varieties. There was a steak and vegetables grilling teppanyaki section where you get to watch their chefs cook your choice of greens and meat. The main course section was the real treat with its cod fish and sambal prawn menu, amongst many other local style items. The dessert bar, however, was a bit of a disappointment because of the lack of creativity in their sweets. The cakes and mousses tasted too sweet as well.

Price:
Sun to thurs
Adult - $68
Children - $34

Fri to sat
Adult - $88
Children - $44

I was there for the national day dinner themed buffet, which costs 88++ sgd, (but thankfully, with a 48% reservation, it eventually cost around 46++ sgd). Overall, the menu was limited but the food was okay. Tea and coffee were available as part of the buffet. The cold seafood consisted of oysters (tasted very fresh), scallops (not so fresh), mussels (bad), salmon sashimi (average) and tiger prawns. There was also a small selection (about 4-5 types) of sushi, all of which tasted rather average.

The cold seafood consisted of oysters (tasted very fresh), scallops (not so fresh), mussels (bad), salmon sashimi (average) and tiger prawns. There was also a small selection (about 4-5 types) of sushi, all of which tasted rather average. There was a mini salad bar and some decent appetizers like potato salad, soba noodle salad, etc. As for the hot food section, there was only around 4 dishes (stir-fried beef, mixed seafood, stir fried cabbage, braised duck with sea cucumber). Some local hawker food also made their presence - (roti prata, chicken rice, rojak, carrot cake, laksa), all of whcih, were pretty decent but not outstanding.

As for the desserts, there was a huge variety of them and most of them tasted great! However, the ice cream was a huge huge disappointment that tasted like cheap palm oil based ice cream.

Lastly, a selection of fruits, including jackfruit was available to cleanse the palate.

I might consider returning again as the service and ambience was good. But food wise, its variety is too limited to justify the price, even after discount.

There was no too much choice at Sushi bar, yet the presentation still considered neat and proper. Wasabi and Japanese light soy were conveniently laid on beside for customers.

The most eye-catching bar was the dessert session. Consist of several types of dessert, all of them look colourful. Cakes, Tarts, Puddings, Muffins, Nyoya Delights and I like the Pastry most.

I walked around before I settled down and begin to eat.

Lastly was the ice-cream, too bad it just has two choices which were Chocolate and Strawberry. What I like it was it provide a tray which you may add Almonds, Nuts, Raisins, Berries or Chocolate chips inside you ice-cream.

My colleague paid for the buffet, we planned to treat her actually but she insisted. She was leaving for a better prospect, I wished her good luck. Anyway, hope that we will still keep in touch in the future.

My family went to Cafe Mosaic at Carlton Hotel to celebrate my dad's birthday. Usually we celebrate his birthday at some Chinese restaurants but I suggest a change since my parent has never gone for International Buffet.

Cafe Mosaic exudes a sense of warmth and comfort. The contemporary cafe brought together Asian and Western culinary favourites, giving one a taste of what the best of Singapore has to offer. Be spoilt with a kaleidoscope of culinary choices in their buffet spread.

The cold section did not have a lot of varieties but they were very fresh and promptly replenished.

There was also a salad section with a good selection of variety. My favourite was the jellyfish and cold tofu.

International Buffet nowaday comes with a selection of sushi. I usually skip the sushi because it can be very filling with all the rice.

I also tried some of the cooked food section. I had the Scallop, Asparagus with XO sauce and Braised Pig Trotters. They were pretty good and worth trying.

I could not resist trying the beautiful slab of Roast Pork calling out for me on the bench.

Not many buffet serves this dish. The Slice Fish Noodle Soup in a way helps to clear all the oiliness. The soup was a bit peppery but I do not mind. I enjoy the peppery kick from the soup.

Cafe Mosaic has quite a comprehensive selection of desserts to satisfy your sweet tooth. Asian favourites were also available such as Ice Kachang, Red Ruby and Pulut Hitam. Ice cream to wrap up the wonderful buffet feast.

On the actual day, I was greeted by a restaurant staff (no smile), and was brought to a table next to the kitchen ( I had requested a window seat in my email), ok no big deal.

The square tables are very near to each other( see the picture).

The ice water was served only after I had made a request.

There is a coffee and tea making machine, you can self serve your cup of coffee.

They have three live stations: shellfish, curry noodle and beef steak.

For the shellfish, there are cockles, mussels, gong gong and clams. There are a few types of cooking method for shellfish, with white wine, sambal chilli or plain. I picked some mussels and gong gong and passed them to the chef to cook in white wine. The shellfish tasted really fresh and sweet.

The curry noodle soup tasted sandy, like those indian curry , I don't like this.

The beef steak is soft but too fatty.

For sashimi, they only have salmon on that day. The cooked food taste ok, prawn rolls (ngoh hiang), asparagus fry with seafood, roast duck, sambal stingray etc.

For the dessert, I only like the creme brulee on a spoon. I had three of that.

There is a 15% discount for DBS card on that day.

I chanced upon the weekend Hi Tea Buffet at Carlton Hotel's Mosaic cafewhen I was in that area. The cofee house is huge and part of it overlooks Bras Basah Road.
Rather than Hi -Tea, brunch would be a more applicable term as it was from 12noon to 5 pm. There was a wide spread of food, ranging from finger food to main courses and some local fare, including desserts. There was a free flow of hot and cold drinks as well.
The service was excellent and the ambience was just right for a lazy afternoon in town, As we worked our way through the different dishes, we realised that we may not be able to sample everything as there was a never ending stream of food.
The dessert spread was my favourite, with fruit, ice cream and cakes and a chocolate fondue as well.
Definitely a great way to unwind!
The menu items change, so my list below is just a sample.
