Brought friends to celebrate their Birthday here. The Restaurant has a wide spread of food. There are Japanese and local dishes for all. The Salmon was my favourite. Price was reasonable and the environment coozy and bright, good for fellowship with friends over a meal. Some of the food taste a little salty but overall still acceptable. Location of the Restaurant is easily accessible by MRT and bus services.I recommend friends to try the dishes here for value for money.

I had a craving for Japanese food but instead of going to a regular Japanese restaurant, my boyfriend and I decided to try Chiso Zanmai. We found out about it through a flyer. To be honest I did not have high expectations of it, since the lunch buffet was only $14.90++. However, we were both pleasantly surprised when we saw that the restaurant had a lovely view of the river. The buffet spread was pretty good too. -Japanese curry
-Tori karaage
-Chawanmushi
-Udon or cold soba
-Tonkatsu ramen or Soyu ramen
-Japanese pancake with radish
-Takoyaki
-Green tea egg tarts

Service was also prompt and fast. Even though the restaurant was nearly 70% full, the waiters manage to clear the plates off the table efficiently and food was also replenished when it ran out. I would definitely go back again!

The buffet spread was pretty good, they have the typical japanese food spread, many varieties of salmon as you can see from the photos. Many different variations of salmon sashimi. Unfortunately my buffet strategy was left in disarray when i polish up this plate of salmon. I felt a little sick after the many slices of salmon. Moral of the story, eat salmon in moderation, no matter how much you love the little red fish. Besides raw salmon, they had grilled salmon head, salmon porridge, salmon mi

Omega 3 overload it what you get here. For dinner we paid about $35 in total excluding drinks. If you are into desserts, the dessert spread was however very disappointing.

The quality of food is actually good!!! I love the spread, especially the authentic dishes and some fusion style. They have the normal favorites like freshly cut Salmon, sushi pieces, tempura selections and Japanese noodles. I love their creative dessert selections...good selection and tasty. Another plus point is that they change their buffet menu every month. That makes every buffet trip a different experience. The third plus plus point is the price. Very affordable price for a very wonderful

Among the entire selection of the buffet spread, my favourite was actually this simple yet yummy tofu dish. My friendsand I all agreed that this was indeed rather innovative as well as tasty. The tofu were infused with the essence of corn(savoury) and matcha (bitter) which we all enjoyed. They have the texture of cheese (cheesy feel) and I actually took 3servings of each! We also felt that if these tofu were placed at the dessert section, no one would suspect a thing as theywere like pudding! Ho

How could a Japanese buffet be without sashimi? Sadly only salmon sashimis were available. I was a little crazy that day
and added more wasabi than usual. I also tried all the desserts and mostly had green tea in them.

This japanese restaurant is one of my favourite venue when looking for very fresh and juicy raw salmon. The restaurant environment is very nice and cosy, and really spacious too. The staffs here are very well trained and extremely friendly as well. Their salmon fish are only sliced upon your order, so you will be assured the freshest plate of salmon will be served to your table. Have it with their fresh sliced preserved gingers and wasabi, is even more delicious too.

This is a Japanese cuisine buffet, they have nice views from the windows and good food! I was treated to this buffet by my friend's mother and the buffet starts from 12 plus to 2 plus, therefore there was no time to take much photos as we were late. But I manage to try some Japanese food which I always see on TV and have always wanted to try it, there were some sashimi too and desserts of all kinds.

If you have got cravings for japanese food, and wants it to be worth the money, do try out the japanese buffet at chiso zanmai. They have got cooked food, seafood, sashimi, dessert. Most importantly about raw food is that they have to be fresh, the sashimi and other raw food here are fresh and delicious! With this, it is already worth it. Their cooked food are good too! Wide selection.

Chiso Zanmai opened it's doors to business on 23 February 2012 replacing the defunct Fishermans Market which ended operation on 13 February 2012. Not to worry, this 200 seater restaurant is still run by the same management team and best of all, the restaurant manager is still Mr Uyama. The Japanese cuisine in Chiso Zanmai is very authentic thanks to the hands of their their Japanese Executive Chef, Tatsuya Tamura.I personally don't find their salmon sashimi very fresh. I personally don't find their salmon sashimi very fresh. It feels a little soggy. There wasn't much choices, only 3 types of sashimi.

The mini steamboat pot is what I like best. The soup is tasty and flavored. I ordered the vegetable one. Normal vegetable soup is usually blend but for this one, you could actually taste the sweetness of the soup.

I walked pass the cold soba a couple of times and decided to try it out. Didn't look fantastic and sure enough, it didn't taste fantastic either. Wasn't alot of choices for sushi so I only manage to grab a few pieces.

I had always love salmon skin so I was quite thrilled when I saw that they had it. Had to wait sometime though because their speed of topping up food is amazingly slow. The gyoza wasn't too fantastic either. The tepanyaki squid was a twist for the night. It didn't look too appealing soaking in the gravy but tasted really nice. Best of all the squid was fresh so you get the springy feeling when you take the first bite. The pizza, well...not a big fan to begin with.

They ran out of miso soup bowls and after walking around a couple of times and coming back to the same spot without finding any miso soup bowl, I decided to get creative...I took the sauce bowl to contain miso soup. Would be good if they can top up utensils fast.

Chawanmushi was a little disappointing. I always thought that Japanese have high standards for taste and presentation when preparing their food. I like the taste and the smoothness but the presentation gave them some negative points. The egg is not suppose to sink in!

Ended the dinner with a little bit of their desserts. The green tea brulee tasted awesome. I was standing there watching the chef (probably their dessert chef) burn the sugary top with her torch. After burning, she set the brulee aside and kept on chatting with her colleague. After going back to the station the third time, I was able to get hold of one. I can't say it's worth the wait. But I certainly don't like the feeling of standing there waiting while the chef was busy chatting with her colleague. She could, however, turn around and tell me that it won't be ready this soon. Maybe advice me when I can come back....something like that.

On the whole, it wasn't a perfect experience. Would be good if they clear the tables faster and top up the utensils and food faster as well.

We paid $24.90++ (dinner proper) plus $1.90++ (free flow of drinks) for the entire dinner. Would go back again if they can bring back the Fishermans Market's food and service standard.
