Not only the environment is comfortable, the food served here is equally delightfully delicious. I love their beef tenderloin as it is quite thick in slice and the beef meat is very juicy and tender. Glad it is totally not tough and every mouthful of it is simply taste great! The display may look simple but just have that big portion of beef alone as a meal is definitely good enough to make your day a very pleasant one.

- The Food
Querceto Chianti Docg 2009 @ $12/glass or $58/bottle (House wine - Red)
Brillant ruby red. A youthful wine with scents of ripe fruits. Medium body, vinous, lightly tannic. Good with Pasta and White meat.

The medium body wine taste pleasingly fruity with a graceful clean finish. It's not dry to the throat and has a nice delicate and appealing scents. Both Shela and I enjoy the wine.

Lychee Smash @ $12

Portobello Mushroom @ $14
Baked with fresh Tomato, Buffalo Mozzarella and Basil topped with a small bouquet of Mesclum Mix Salad and Balsamic Reduction

Oh yeah, this is my favorite dish of the night! The juicy portabella mushroom is beefy and hearty. The balsamic reduction vinegar is intensely flavored, together with the mix greens it's absolutely scrumptious!

Prosciutto Rucola @ $18
Thin crust Pizza spread with homemade Tomato Sauce, Oregano, Basil and shredded Mozzarella topped with sliced Parma Ham & Arugula

We love the dry-cured paper-thin prosciutto (Italian ham) thou its a little salty. The arugula has bold flavors - a little tangy zesty flavor, bitter and spicy (peppery taste) to some.

The pizza is ordinary to us. Maybe if the crust is thinner and with more tomato sauce will be better. I prefer the pizza at Skinny Plaza located at the basement of Raffles City.

Filetto di Manzo @ $32
Beef Tenderloin with Butternut Pumpkin puree and Vegetables with your choice of Gorgonzola or Black Pepper Sauce

Gorgonzola (Italian blue cheese) or Black Pepper? The staff solve our agony by offering to have both sauce serve at the side. The black pepper sauce is tasty on its own but felt the overly strong pepper will kill the original flavor of the beef. Surprisingly the blue cheese is mild and do not smell downright awful. I love the Butternut pumpkin puree, its tastier than both the sauce given.

My girlfriends think the tenderloin is juicy and tender but I beg to differ. It taste dry and a little tough to me. Maybe because I am used to medium rare and we had ordered medium well.

Pasta al Frutti Di Mare @ $29
Italian pasta with Prawns, Scallops, Calamari, ½ Slipper Lobster, Fish, Mussels & Clams with your choice of Tomato Sauce / White Wine / Aglio Olio / Squid Ink (Pasta Choice: Linguine, Fettuccine, Penne, Spaghetti, Tagliatelle)

We had linguine pairing white white. The seafood are fresh but nothing spectacular. Something is missing in the sauce and Shela thinks the presentation of the pasta can be better. Both of us prefer the pasta at Pasta Inc (another authentic flavors of Italian cuisine).

- My Opinion
Ask for inner seat as it is more enclosed and it's facing the outdoor water fountain which make the ambience more cosy. But the inner seat are more bright compare to the dimmer light outside.

They have interesting musics that kill the ambience. There were retro songs like Bananarama, Belinda Carlisle, Songs from Justin Bieber, Hip Hop... With the right music, it will make the place more awesome.

Those who enjoy eating sotongs should not miss the deep fried sotong rings from this Italian restaurant. Large size of sotong rings are coated with a thin layer of flour before bring to deep fry. The outcome is really crispy outer layer with very chewy and juicy sotong meat on the inside. Dip with their special made mayonnise sauce, the taste is heavenly delicious and make you crave for more.

It's a very nice setup with tables on the level of the Basement 1 of Orchard Central.

Inside the restaurant, their kitchen has an open concept decor where you can the chefs hard at work.

It is another healthy concept, however without the vouchers I don’t like I will visit again.

3) Marinara - boring me opted for this AGAIN! The seafood was fresh and surprising generous (compared to the Carbonara). I like my marinara with kick so their was a little too tomato-y and lacking in salt too.

Maybe the kitchen chefs all are very health conscious so they are watchful about how much salt they add in. This, both pastas can be considered 'subtle' in taste lah.

Not likely I'll visit again unless I ask for that little shaker of salt.

It was having a promotion for all diners when we visited: 10% discount for ala carte food items & 50% discount for cocktails & mocktails. We had a quick peek at its menu before deciding to step foot into this restaurant as the price looks reasonable with the promotion, & the ambience looks cosy & welcoming.

We ordered 1 pasta & 1 pizza to share, as well as a cocktail for myself & a mocktail for my friend.

The complimentary slice of bread was served warm & soft, but I guess I have eaten better bread appetitisers at other Italian restaurants.
.

My Gnocchi Roma was very tasty, which was Italian-style potato dumpling pasta served with bacon bits. The portion looked small but it was actually quite filling.

When the Hawaiian Pizza came, we still hadn't finished the pasta & so decided to finish it before starting the pizza. So by the time we ate the pizza, it was not very hot & hence the crust was a bit tough already. Otherwise I think this pizza should be pretty alright too. As you can see from the picture, the pizza was quite big, 8 pieces in fact, & we struggled to finish. For the last few pieces, we had to scrape off the crust to lessen the carbo-intake haha. Luckily the crust was thin & not so wasteful.

I also enjoyed my Lychee Mojito ($16++) as much as my friend enjoyed her Lychee Smash ($12++). The only difference between our drinks was that mine was an alcoholic drink whereas hers wasn't. Maybe the alcohol effect worked on me, I forgot to take pic of this nice cocktail!

After we finished the food & couldn't decide if we wanted to stuff ourselves with desserts (which looked really tempting), one of the waitresses served us complimentary slices of cheesecakes! Wow not bad so many freebies hehe. However, both of us didn't really like the cheesecakes, as it was a bit too cheesy. Fortunately only small slices were served to us.

We were in the restaurant for over 2 hours & I must say the service staff were all quite friendly & service-oriented, although they were a bit careless (not to us but 1 broke a plate while another knocked into some board). The good thing about coming here to dine was also, it's not crowded or noisy & we could take our time to enjoy our dinner. I would say this was a good dinner choice we made, in the bustling & convenient Orchard area but yet a well-hidden cosy corner! ;)

This is a memorable dining moment for me because the place and the food are simply gorgeous. Hidden at the corner inside the Orchard Central shopping mall, the quiet atmosphere of the restaurant does enhance our dining pleasure. The staffs give very good service, with big smiley faces. We also ordered the Seafood pasta. The tonato sauce is very appetizing, with generous amount of fresh seafood. Simple but nice!

As for desserts, we had the Marble cheesecake with apricot coulis & berries ($14). The cheese layer is smooth and rich, and i like the crunchy base too. For that price, I'm disappointed on the small portion though.

Their Honey & white truffle gelato, single scoop ($6) is another star too. It's amazing how well the honey and white truffle's flavour come together. It's a surprise for sure.

My friend and I had a wonderful dinning experience at Covelli which is located at Orchard Central Basement 2. We were just walking and saw this cool place and wanted to check it out. Firstly, we were greeted by a beautiful hostess and was ushered to a table. The ambiance was awesome. Very chic and simple. Cozy too! We had the Beef Carpaccio and Foie Gras as starters. OMG...best Foie Gras i've tasted in years! No kidding. The beef carpaccio went excellently with the Barolo Brozoni wine. My friend, Lisa, ordered the Mushroom soup and it was delicious too. Very unique. As for our mains, we ordered the Filetto di Manzo and Merluzzo con Asparagi, which was recommended by the manager. He was very confident in promoting this dishes. When the food came, it looked soo...good and tempting. Not wanting to waste time, the first bite of the beef (Filetto) just melted in my mouth! Never had i ever had a beef this good. Seriously! The cod fish (Merluzzo) was fresh and the skin crispy. We both enjoyed it and realized why the manager was very confident about the food.

Finally, we shared the dessert, Tiramisu and again, OMG!! Best ever!! Not too dry, not too sweet. You can actually taste the cognac in this Tiramisu!

And there is a romantic, cozy chill out bar tugged at the corner of the place. We got "transferred" by the recommendation of the manager, again, to this wonderful bar. This manager is really good. We continued our balance wine at the bar. It was a good idea to "transfer" guest who just wants to have a drink to the bar after dinner. Kudos!!

I will recommend all to visit Covelli. It is the coolest place with awesome food and service. Do check out the ESYE Fashion store there too. It also belongs to them.

Cheers!!
