Having been to The Greenhouse @ Ritz Carlton for lunch before, I decided to revisit this place, this time for international buffet dinner.

The warm, lavishly-furnished interior was what greeted us when we first stepped into the lush carpeting and under the elegant lightings of this beautiful dinery. The efficient service crew came over to serve drinks and place the napkins on our laps, standard procedure. I like the spacious setting and quietly-elaborate ambience.

Amongst all the goodies loaded on the trays and tables, it took some time for me to get started, wondering which station to begin at. As such, I decided that cold food was the way to go - I liked the assortment of salads available. Ok, so they had the entire deck of greens (olives, lettuce, rocket salad etc), but they also have these cooked, delectable salads.

There is the Squid Salad - tasty and a rich contrast of textures between the chewy squid and the light crisp vegetables. There is the Smoked Duck Salad - not too salty smoked duck that is succulently decked in sweet-sour dressing. And appetizing Papaya Salad that preps the tastebuds for more good stuff to come.

I was ready to move on to the piping hot Indian fare. These spicy, mouthwatering items are Chicken Marsala, my favorite Pappadum Chips, the tasty Bryani rice and tantalizing Vegetable Curry redolent of chilli and coconut milk's flavors. The highlight at this station was the Duck Curry - the first time I tried - spicy, yes, but with a sourish tinge of tomatoes.

Back to some Chinese-styled vegetables stewing in the hot pans next to the Curries station. There are mushrooms, cauliflower, white cabbage, giant cherry tomatoes and asparagus for one to choose from this healthy array of non-meat items. However, I feel that the fresh greens should not be kept boiling in warm temperature - they were either mushy or hard to chew. It was a pity.

3)Clam Chowder with Poached Prawns
4)Baked Miso Cod and Tea Smoked Chicken

The canapés were exciting with smoked duck with mango. It has red meat to neutralize with fruit. The spinach tart were solid yet easy to bite to fill the stomach before the late meal was served.

The appetizer was interesting. I had soft salmon with roe as topping. Then the tomato served as salad. The chilli sauce was yet a decoration the plate.

The soup was the clam chowder with prawns. It was a creamy soup yet not creamy. The prawn was sliced to half so it was easy to bite.

The cod was soft and juicy. However, the chicken was tough. I was given breast meat which I found it dried.

The dessert had two parts. It started with a chocolate dome. The chocolate was bitter. I believed dark chocolate was served and the arch was the white chocolate. The mini cup was the milky jelly. It tasted like the almond jelly with raspberry served as topping. I enjoyed the dessert.
The waitress were very active and experienced in meeting the needs of the diners. Service was good.

It soon dawned upon me that this Buffet hits me on all the unusual spots. First the Japanese cuisine, now the Salad Counter. Their Salad Counter is unique and noteworthy. I especially adore the Smoked Duck Salad. I’ve always been a fan of smoked duck, and they prepared it utterly well.

Though reasonably varied, the Charcuterie Counter didn’t impress me like the previous two. They had the usual, prosciutto ham, gravlax salmon, smoked salmon, chorizo and salami, and the likes. Nothing to yell about. For me, it was a touch and go here.

Tiger prawns, clams, mussels and oysters fill up the finite Seafood Counter. After sucking off the shucks of the freshest oysters in town at Tanuki, it can get hard to appreciate the rest of the oysters. Still, well, it isn’t that bad to satisfy the potential oysters craving. The tiger prawns were disappointing. I thought it was plain and dull, and not freshly prepared.

Vegetables, pre-prepared chicken, beef, fish – these are the items in the Hot Selections that I generally skip in buffets. And this was no exception. First they have to appeal to my sense of sight, then they get a chance with my taste. But there was nothing special enough to get my stomach on with them.

The Carving Station was ordinary. The beef was acceptable though not to the extent that I would go back for a third or fourth time. The Singapore Chili Crab also fell short. I thought they mellowed it down a little in terms of their spiciness to cater to more of the general public, and that the crab meat wasn’t flavored enough. I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would. And well, avoid getting the Seafood Omelette. It’s unexaggerated-ly flavorless.

I am a total fan of artisan breads in general, but it was displeasing that most of their Artisan Bread Counter had this inclination of being rubbery. Though internally soft, I had a little trouble biting it through in entirety. On the other end of the buffet line comes the Cheese Counter. The most extensive cheese counter I’ve seen in buffets. If you take a closer look, they offer at least 10 different types of cheese. So for cheese lovers, you’re in for a treat!

The Dessert Counter is pretty safe I’d say. Outstanding pieces like the Vanilla Mille Feuille and Chocolate Tarts are must-tries. Chocolate Ice Cream is also the premium type – the one you get in Marché. If I’m not mistaken, it’s mövenpick ice cream.

Juices are not inclusive, though tea and coffee can be ordered through the waitstaff.

The reason why I didn’t feel that the Buffet was worthy in general is because they only hit the smaller targets like salads, cheese, sushi and sashimi, and miss the bigger ones like carving stations and seafood counter. Thus the price paid didn’t quite meet my expecation. But if you dig the abovementioned hits, then you can give it a shot.

Most cards have at least a 10% discount on meals.

Impress by the cold seafood selection; Bright orange colored slipper lobsters was fresh and firm (I ate half a dozen). Fresh prawn was cold and crunchy. Sweet ‘Lala’ is clean and has no muddy taste. They offers the best part of salmon, the BELLY was so fatty and velvety that it literally melts in your mouth. Sushi selection were great but I would recommend the flamed scallop sushi as it’s well charred and delicious and not forgetting the unique mantis prawn sushi, soft and sweet flesh topped with mayo and floss YUM. Shrimp and Kani chawamushi were hot and light tasting. Not your usual bread selection interest me a lot too (their rye bread was great). All their desserts were AWESOME, my favorite was berries fruit tart, buttery and crumbly tart shell filled with smooth custard and topped with fresh sour berries. Cost justified!

It boasted of an international buffet, but it had the usual carving table, standard Asian rice and noodle dishes, the seafood bar, sushi bars and interesting appetizer dishes.
My favorite was the strawberry sushi, which honestly didn't taste as good as it looks, but plus points for fancy presentation definitely.

Once again, nothing extraordinary but plus points for presentations. They served up an Earl Grey Creme Brulee which got my hopes up, but turned out to be disappointing so I shall not post photos of that. Still, I was spoilt for choices at the dessert table, and am glad to say I did have a taste of everything from the dessert table.

They also had a cheese section, which I don't really see very often, and they took the effort to ensure that the cheeses did not appear too stale-looking, which was good. Service was impeccable, had the waiter come over at least ten times to check on us. Our cups never ran dry.

Earlier this month, it has introduced its “Beef Night at Greenhouse” promotion every Wednesday night, which brings 11 beef items to its already impressive buffet spread. These won’t be hard to miss for as soon as you step into this spacious restaurant which has a high ceiling and a mixture of brown and cream coloured walls, you will immediately see the carving station in the centre.

Right in the middle is a chef, who is more than willing to assist you in slicing the main beef items. For our recommendation, head straight for the Wagyu Beef Tomahawk. This beef is always selling like pancakes because of its flavours and juices concealed in every portion of the meat… especially in the fats! It has also retained that tender texture you will surely enjoy.

There are many more items you can enjoy at Greenhouse. To find out what these are, click the link for the full review:

My colleague and I went to the restaurant "Greenhouse" because they had a 1-for-1 weekday lunch promotion. We were led to a table near the window which was overlooking the beautiful lush greenery outside. The cushioned seat was comfortable and the round table was sufficiently big for the two of us.

Here's an overview of the buffet spread:
- Salad Bar
- Cold cut section
- Warm food
- Soup section
- Bread & Cheese section
- Roast section
- Ice-cream section

The choices available for beverages were limited to ice water, hot coffee and tea, which will be ordered and served through the waiters.

The sashimi was pretty fresh so I had two plates of it.

However the cooked food was ordinary with regards to the variety and I wasn't that impressed. There were steamed fish, indian curry with naan, teriyaki chicken pieces and vegetables, just to name a few.

For the roast section, the chef sliced some roast duck and pork off for me on the spot. The roast duck was sweet and tender while the roast pork went well with the sauce.

The cold crabs were put out only after all the guests had their fill. I would presume it's the restaurant's strategy to not let the guests take too much of them. Since my stomach still had some space after tasting a bit of everything, I decided to try the cold crabs. When I was about to start eating, I saw a strand of hair entangled in my crab. I was disgusted and immediately showed it to the restaurant manager who hurriedly informed the restaurant's head chef. He came over to our table to apologize and offered to give us anything that we would like from the kitchen. As we were already quite bloated, I told him it's fine. Frankly speaking, I am reasonably pleased with the swift response to my complaint.

The head chef insisted on compensating us for their carelessness, so we gave in and ordered two glasses of orange juice. To my surprise, the orange juice was freshly squeezed!

I have to mention that their mango dessert was awesome. Take a look at my pictures to see the generous chunks of mangoes they gave!

Overall, I was pleased with their service. Used plates were cleared quickly and the food was replenished constantly.

Oh, not forgetting their desserts. I have tried most of the chocolate dessert, all were nice especially the chocolate fudge cake. The tiramisu was very nice too.

Hmm.. Although the food here is nice and fresh but i think the buffet here is rather pricey. So i think wont be here the 3rd time again, unless there is some kind of promotion.

The promotion of Wednesday 1-for-1 buffet dinner for ladies using DBS card was too hard to resist so off I went with the ladies in my family. When we arrived at 6:30pm, the places was not packed but the crowd started swelling about 7pm – 90% were ladies of course, with an occasional men milling around.

The last time I came to Greenhouse was for their champagne brunch which was absolutely fabulous, and I was expecting the same standard although of course not the same fare. In fact I half expected them to sting on the quality and quantity as almost all of us there were paying half price with the promotion but they didn’t. Nice!

Seafood – an extravagant spread of freshly oysters, flower crabs, prawns, clams, and mussels. All were very fresh and the prawns of a very good size I must say. The only gripe is that the flower crab was not cracked so I gave up on some pieces halfway.

It was my 22nd birthday last week and my boyfriend had a surprise dinner planned for me. He brought me to Ritz-Carlton Millenia and it was only then that I learned that Ritz-Carlton is one of the few 6-star hotels in Singapore. And all this while I though Fullerton was the one & only. I’m sure we all know that that essentially means that Ritz-Carlton is an equivalent to Fullerton. *gasp* Anyway, he brought me around the hotel first 'cos we were there too early - they only let diners in at 6.30pm

Anyway, he brought me around the hotel first 'cos we were there too early - they only let diners in at 6.30pm for the dinner buffet.
Once we were seated at 6.30 sharp, we couldn't wait but to immediately head to the food to check out the spread.

They buffet basically included sashimi, sushi, soups, fresh seafood (oysters, king prawns, crayfish, etc), Indian briyani & curries, roasted chicken, roast duck, seafood omelette, salads, appetisers, chili crab, pork belly, pork trotters, roasted beef, buttered cod fish, dory fillet, teriyaki chicken, bacon quiche, etc.

There was also this ‘vegetarian corner’ with dried fruits and a variety of nuts. Sounds healthy right? But this being Singapore, with most diners there Singaporeans, it wasn’t the least bit surprising that hardly anyone stopped by for more than a quick scan.

Also had sushi’s that no one really took… only because the Sashimi spread was just opposite. Haha.

I had rounds after rounds of food and if only my stomach had no space limit, i swear I would've eaten more.

Went on to the desserts, which looked oh-so-tempting!!
Don’t be surprised, but I quite literally managed to try every single one of them.

It was definitely a night never to be forgotten
