This time round, my girlfriend suggested we headed to imperial treasure congee and noodles house at Ion for lunch. We ordered their mixed platter of roast duck and roast pork ($18) and their pork dumpling ($3.60). their pork dumpling came in a portion of three, it was so good we could not help but order another portion. The pork dumpling was very juicy. It goes really well with the vinegar ginger. The duck had quite a lot of bones though, it was a little hard to eat. But when u got the meat out,

The Wanton with Hot and Chilli sauce was good, there were six pieces if I am not wrong. It was pretty fat and juicy. the duck however was pretty coarsely chopping and had a lot of bones so it ws kind of hard to eat but the flavours were there. It was pretty satisfying.

moment he looked at the menu. As for Ngy, he decided to have this noodle. (My bad for not remembering the names of all the dishes, as my mind was really filled with awe after the Avergers movie!) Bad lighting made the noodles looked unappetising even though he said that the dish was great. Pjj had the fried fish, with ramen of course (I did not take picture of the bowl of plain looking ramen as Ljq and I also had ramen). No comments at all which made me having to think hard of what to type. Anyway, looked quite dry and too much excess flour to me. As for me, I had the spiced beef with ramen. Thin slices of beef with jellied-looking fats visibly around, adding additional dimension to its flavour. I had to add some chili oil into my soup for a tingle of spiciness because it tasted too bland. Lkj said that the beef was much tastier than the usual beef dish that he normally order (not sure which) As for Ljq, he decided to have a higher-class looking wanton noodles soup. I doubt he enjoyed eating it, maybe also due the space constraints. (Heard more comments about the lack of space instead of his food from him.)As for the shrimps chee cheong fan, we ordered to share among ourselves. With the slightly oily gravy, it was a typical Chinese restaurant dish that tasted not too bad. I had a little bit of shrimp and luckily my allergy did not kick in badly. (Washed down the itch with a warm cup of chrysanthemum!)

I went to imperial treasure for dinner with some friends. One of my friend recommended the roasted pork and insisted we have to try it so we ordered a portion of it. It came in 9 cubes. The roast pork was so delicious. The skin was so crispy. The meat was so tender and juicy. there was no fats in sight. When you dip in their sweet sauce, it was totally to die for, absolutely delicious. I regretted not ordering more of it.

Service was fairly good. I was served only after enquiry, and allocated a seat next to the service counter. I suppose that is why service is always fast and efficient. Even when the service counter is that close, refilling of tea was still slow, with most of the time, an empty pot sits on the table. However, ordering wasn't a problem. Service crew did recommend some of their special dishes and desert, but I won't consider that hard selling yet.

Ordered quite a handful of dishes. The first one being the Crab meat fried rice & salted fish fried rice. The crab meat fried rice had a rather common seafood taste. Nothing special, but also not awful tasting. You should also know that crab meat is scarce in this dish. As for the salted fish fried rice, it felt rather oily, and it lacked salted fish in the rice, but at least it tasted quite good. Price was rather high ranging between $12 to $14.80. They only serve small portions, and the portion is lesser than what you will see at a typical zi char stall.

The next dish is dumpling noodles. The noodles and the sauce was very well done. Definately one of the best dumpling noodles I've tasted. The noodles are very Q, but so much that it's hard to break the noodles by biting, and I ended up slurping up a whole chunk of noodle. At $7.30 for a plate, I consider that a good price for something this good.

The next dish is a grouper head chopped into many pieces, cooked in dark sauce and tofu. Like most fish head, there are lots of bones in this one. The meat, which is quite soft and smooth, had soaked up the sauce pretty well, and the taste was just right.

The next dish is deep fried nan ru pork ribs. It's a popular cantonese dish, but unfortunately, it wasn't prepared as well. I could hardly taste the "nan ru" taste in the pork. But good job on the deep frying. It wasn't very oily, and they managed to lock in the juices in the pork. However, I consider this very expensive because $14 only gets 4 pieces, with a heck load of bone.

There was other dishes that we ordered such as deserts and the roasted duck, which was well done, and worth trying. Overall, 8 of us spent $188, which was slightly high for an average restaurant. If I were to come again, I'll take the dumpling noodles for sure. =)

Crysanthemum pu er tea is very refreshing, smooth and soothing. My favourite among all the dishes is their fish belly congee and it was nice and the porridge texture was smooth and not fishy but because it's meat from the belly, one has to be good at the fish bones. Their xiao long bao is average though. The chicken leg has Tender meat and soft skin.

I always frequent this restaurant as i like their noodle and dim sum! To avoid long queue and long waiting time, it's best to go there before 12noon. So today i went for brunch at 11am instead! Plain noodle with seasonal vegetable comes in either soup/dried. I prefer the soup version. Noodle is very springy and not overcooked. Soup base is tasty too without the "kan sui" smell.

Over priced. Oh I remember we had Peking Duck. Not as good as Crystal Jade's. But better than most others.

We finally decided to take the plunge and revisit Ion Orchard after so many months in the hope that the crazy crowds would have abated. But I guess our hope was in vain. Nonetheless, we decided on dinner at Imperial Treasure Noodle & Congee House (ITNCH for short), seeing that it was the only eatery that still had space to accommodate us.

Located at B3 of the swanky shopping mall, ITNCH utilises an electronic queue system, which seems to be more rampant nowadays. The interior is seemingly cramp and reminiscent of your typical casual dining Chinese restaurant.

BBQ Combination - We opted for a roast pork/BBQ pork combination which was quite decent. The roasted pork had a thin layer of crisp skin coupled with a nice proportion of fat whereas the BBQ pork was mildly fibrous without coming across as overly sweet.

Fried Hor Fun with Egg and Prawn - Carrying a fleeting hint of wok hei, the hor fun was smooth without clumping together. The gravy was a little lacklustre even though it was flush with egg strands. I did like the prawns though, which were relatively big in size with a nice crunch to them.

Beancurd with Oyster Sauce - An average dish, the beancurd wasn't silky smooth nor savoury but the oyster sauce did help though. Came served with mushrooms and vegetables.

Yang Chow Fried Rice - I personally thought that this was quite well done. The rice had a comforting wok hei taste with a nice homogenous egg coating and little bits of BBQ pork and prawns that made for a rather enjoyable plate of fried rice. Then again, maybe we were hungry.

The bill totaled about $61 for the 3 of us, which wasn't too unreasonable given the decent service and food. This place beats any of the lower end Crystal Jade outlets that I've tried and I'll certainly be looking out for the Imperial Treasure brand name the next time I'm searching for a casual, convenient and inexpensive Chinese restaurant option.
