Lao Beijing is famous for their dim sum e.g Steamed Juicy Meat Bun, Beijing-style Shao Mai, Vegetable and Chive Pancake etc . The restaurant also serve lunch , hi tea buffet where by the price is reasonable, they also have set menu. i like the steamed Juicy Meat Bun as the skin is not too thick and the meat is tender and the juice . once bite it melt in your mouth , the noodles is springy and qq .

It has been a long time since I ate Lao Beijing's popiah. It was discontinued but returned recently. Knowing that it was back, I asked my dad to eat that for dinner. He agreed. It was nice, put a little expensive. $22 for 6 pieces. Well, but I guess it was worth it, for the taste. Still, there are better ones out there. At Lao Beijing, the popiah is different. It tasted a little sweet and it wasn't salty. Perfect. I wouldn't hesitate to step in more times to eat this dish in Lao Beijing.

Though the food from Lao Beijing generally taste quite good, I feel that there is nothing special about this place. In fact, I will deem it as just another Chinese restaurant. Perhaps the only thing which I can differentiate this restaurant from the rest of the Chinese restaurant is the fact that the waitress from Lao Beijing will always promote the Ba Bao Tea which I feel that it is not worth trying.

The manager, Lili, made my ROM there a breeze. From the food dishes to the table layout, she was prompt and professional in helping me realise my wedding preparations. The guests also complimented on the tasty food especially the Peking duck which was quite fun for them to roll. Recommend this place as a serious contender for future celebrations.

This is minced pigeon soup from Lao Beijing. The top layer is egg. The bottom layer is minced pigeon meat. This is my first time trying this soup. The minced pigeon meat taste like chicken and pork. But the soup has a fishy smell. I not sure is it a Chinese herbs taste or what. The soup contain of Chinese wine. I'm sure this is a very tonic soup.

Got a couple of vouchers to have our family lunch to celebrate my parents' birthdays:

1) Shanbei Chicken - they do this dish better than me...sigh...

2) Beijing Duck - my daughter loves this dish and I must admit, it's nicely done.

3) Seabass with special sauce - deep-fried fish covered with their special sweet sour sauce, not bad.

4) French Beans with minced - I always love this dish and this is nice.

5) Spinach Beancurd - this seaweed-coated tofu is well done. Super soft on the inside...

6) Abalone Mushroom with Vege - the abalone mushrooms have a nice texture to them and it tastes very well with the vege.

7) Egg Plant with minced - another well-done dish

8) Ma Po Tofu - haven't have this dish for a while now. Really enjoyed this one.

9) Fried Silver Bait - crispy Fried fish that you can popped into your mouth, one after another!

10) Lotus Leaf Rice - this dish is quite nice actually, my daughter likes it

11) Fried Ee Fu Mee - this is a must-order as my other daughter is a fan.

12) Xiaolong Bao - the little 'pockets' of juicy minced in stock are nice. Only prob is you have to eat them hot to get the best satisfaction!

13) Chef Pork - I thought this dish is ok, not awesome lah.

In summary, Lao Beijing is an ok place to makan if you have a craving for china-Chinese food.

Xiao Long Bao is a traditional dish that is well liked by everyone. ANd Lao Beijing has this affordable buffet tea time that has xiao long baos! It is absolutely delicious! Each bao is filled with the steaming meat is its own pocket of tasty soup. At only about $12 per person, it is an affordable and good value lunch cum dinner for everyone!

I have been eating a lot of xiao long bao lately, if there were such thing as xiao long bao poisoning, I will definitely be badly poisoned. the xiao long bao at lao Beijing is quite nice, but I would prefer that of paradise dynasty. But the soup wise, this soup taste quite good, goes really well with the xiao long bao. I would not mind coming here again!
