first time been to this place and when i looked at the menu, i felt this place served dishes that were slightly different from the normal chinese restaurants. i ordered the chicken noodle to try since other dishes that i wanted were not available. the presentation of the food really did not look appetising and the taste was equally not fantastic. it just tasted very average and the think for that quality, is not worth the price

A Fine neighbourhood shopping centre dinner place. I bought my dad & mum there. they liked the pork belly alot. tender and juicy. The menu reminds me of crystal jade la mian or similar set ups, but this kind of menu is I think what most people dont mind, which is good. Settings are cosy with some booth seats available. However, it is abit noisy. i think i am shouting in order for my mum to hear me.Good value for money..

Mayim has a relatively wide range of appetiser and the pork and vegetable wonton is one of them. It is served with the restaurant's sweet and spicy sauce and costs $5. The wontons are filled generously with moist soft pork which is wrapped with a thin layer of the skin. The skin has a light sweetness to it and the way the wonton was wrapped helps retain the sauce on its skin. The sweet and spicy sauce, as the name suggests, is sweet and spicy. However, it isn't too spicy and carries the special taste that's in most of the sauces Mayim makes. The only downside to the appetiser was the amount of oil in the sauce. It was too oily and I had to "drain" it out. Other than the oiliness, it was delicious and worth the money. Would definitely have it again next time I'm craving for wontons!

I dine at Mayim regularly and the manager had actually recommended me the baked custard and peanut sauce bun today. I've never tried it before and it seems like this is one of the items on the "customers' favourite" menu. It was served freshly out of the oven and had a nice peanut smell to it. The outer layer of the baked bun is very thin and crispy. I loved the peanut sauce on the top layer. The crust is very soft and powdery. Overall, I really liked it and would be having it again soon. The minimum order for this baked bun is 2 pieces and each piece costs only $1.40. Its pretty big and filling so it'd be a good idea to share one order with someone else.

Environment: Mayim has been constantly changing their arrangements and stuff to make it more comfortable for diners. Since i was there after lunch hours, it was less crowded and quieter for an intimate meal.

Customer service: The only bad thing about Mayim is most staffs are unable to communicate in english fluently. Being weak at mandarin, it definitely is hard for me to ask for something i want while dining there. Also, the staffs will not take initiative for anything. From taking orders to refilling water. The good food does make up for the poor service though.

Price: Although at first sight it may seem like its a small portion, it is actually filling even for 2 people at only $7.80. Not only was it filling, it was delicious. Additionally, it is actually pretty cheap. Other chinese restaurants would probably charge a higher price. Personally, i felt that it was worth every cent. I won't mind having it again.

And the good thing is that the xiao long bao is just 80 cents each but you've to order a minimum of 3 pieces.

Overall, i find that this chinese restaurant is worth the visit!

Had late lunch at mayim and ordered my favourite minced pork ramen which is called zha jiang mian as well. However, the standard dropped a little compared to the first time I ate. Portion is big and it was really filling. Ordered har gao (prawn dumpling) as well and luckily it still tasted as good, just that the price has increased. Service was not up to standard that day and the waitresses seemed quite unwilling to serve us. However, ambience is good and the restaurant is quiet. A good place to

I've never noticed this dish before the new menu Mayim has introduced. Its sweet and sour shredded pork garnished with shredded onion. What caught my eye was how the sweet and sour pork was shaped. Its kind of like fries instead of those irregular circle shaped sweet and sour pork. It took around 20 minutes before it was served, which is pretty annoying considering they had served the rice 10 minutes before. It is probably one of the most disappointing Mayim dishes. It took around 20 minutes before it was served, which is pretty annoying considering they had served the rice 10 minutes before. It is probably one of the most disappointing Mayim dishes. Because of the way its shaped, there isn't must meat in it. Its mostly oil, sauce and crust. It didn't take long before I got sick of it.

Overall, it was a pretty good serving. It'd be good to share among two people. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the dish but my mother really liked it. It costs $8..80 and it wouldn't hurt to try!

Mayim has introduced new menus and now the menus are easier to read and the items are properly categorised. Other changes made include: Slight price increase in items, different pricing system, new items and a 'xiao cai'. The xiao cai was served automatically after I've made my order. It costs $0.50 per person but its refillable. You can also request for them to not serve it. Anyway, I tried one of their new dishes, the golden fried chicken cutlet served with egg and button mushroom in hot pan.

Anyway, I tried one of their new dishes, the golden fried chicken cutlet served with egg and button mushroom in hot pan. Although it looked really good, it was actually pretty tasteless. Everything was tasteless. The egg was half-cooked, the way I like it but it had only a slight hint of egg's taste. The chicken was moist but absolutely no unique taste except for the oil.

It costs $9.80 and is a pretty big serving but definitely not worth it.

I love their minced meat la mian which looked simple and yet flavorful. Simply love the texture of the la mian which was 'Q' which was actually handmade by the chef.

The xiao long bao and fried dumplings were nice too, which were fresh and tasty. Love the skin which were 'Q' in texture too.

A highly recommended restaurant if you are shopping at West Mall.

Lunched at Mayim with a few friends. I ordered the beef noodles. The beef is tender and soft and the sauce for the noodles is really good! We also ordered some Dim Sum. The Har Gao is really good with a great portion of filling. Their other dim sum like siew mai and chee cheong fun is good too! Awesome food here!

I was craving for some noodle soup and decided to try Mayim's noodles with golden fried fresh prawn dumpling served in soup. I recommend making a special order to have the fried fresh dumplings on another plate. The noodles didn't have unpleasant noodle smell and the soup is sweet. The dumplings were surprisingly big and it didn't taste floury. The prawns were pretty big and sweet. For $6.50, it was very reasonable and I'd recommend it.
