Pepper Lunch

Not really first timer but possibly first time at SMK Hub. Location is 1st level near entrance facing McDonald. This restaurant is quite roomy with ordering from long queues. Ordered chicken Katsu curry rice < New menu > and Salmon pepper rice. The waiting time is quite fast for Salmon. Hot plate and sound effect already proofed is steaming hot and adding soy sauce on toppling made a perfect pair. Mixing the rice and feel so beauty inside. Opt for more corn and cheese if you are cheese lover. Here come the Chicken Katsu curry rice. It serve curry separately on a metal scoop. The curry smell shiok and pouring on TOP the rice. The strong curry smoke just rise up around the hot plate and look delicious. The chicken Katsu looked slightly thinner than normal. Overall served with corn and mushroom. This set also accompany with mesh potatoes with curry toppling. Not bad for starter. It is a perfect combination that should be miss for this time. Located on the ground floor of AMK Hub is Pepper Lunch. During weekday lunch hours from 12-1pm, there is usually a queue outside. This time I visited Pepper Lunch on a weekday at 1:30pm and we were the only ones in the queue. I was in a party of 7 and we got a table within minutes.Pepper Lunch has expanded their menu to include omu rice (omelette rice) as well as curry sauces! This Pepper Lunch outlet is actually quite big and seats quite a number of patrons. You don't have to find your own table, as the staff will help accomodate your party.I had the salmon pepper rice and I added cheese 90cents. Gone were the days when we had cheese sauce poured in, now it is just grated cheese. Oh well! The cheese wasn't sufficient enough to clog my arteries but it was enough to spread around the rice. I really enjoyed the salmon cooked on the hot lunch plate. Slightly charred to perfection and the rice tasted great. They also provide extra sauces to drown your rice in.For a $1 top up, you can add an ice cream to your meal. I highly recommend Goma (black sesame) it tasted really good, even though I am a green tea lover. I don't really like dining in Pepper Lunch restaurants because you'll come out smelling of food. But anyway, I decided to have dinner there and tried the cheesy omelette, which I didn't see in the Express outlets in food court.You can choose the meat and sauce you want. I went for beef slices with curry. I love cheese and eggs and Japanese curry. Putting them all in a plate is awesome.There's no service charge in the restaurant, but prices are still higher than the food court. I guess you're paying for them to bring the food to your table. Beef Pepper Rice - $6.50 (student promotion). I love to eat at Pepper Lunch after school, because they have special price for students. With this student meal, I only needed to pay $6.50 for my Beef Pepper Rice, besides, drink is already included. Quite affordable right? I always add grated cheese (+$0.90) to complete my meal, because I like it when the cheese become melted as I pour it on the pan. This is my first time trying Pepper Lunch and i always love the smell when i walk pass it. So since there is a one for one pepper lunch deal. I decided to have it with my boyfriend. This is Classic Tomato Sauce Pasta which cost $11.90 each for the usual price. Before pouring the sauce inside, the hot pot was slashing around me. After pouring it, ready to be served. Salmon or beef is one of the most popular and basic dishes in pepper lunch. Where raw meat will be placed around the rice which is in the middle with corn and butter. The butter and the brown and garlic sauce makes the rice very fragrant. I really like the hot plate concept. As a regular customer of Pepper Lunch, I already get used to the queue before eating. I don’t mind to wait for my favourite food, but it really needs a lot of patience. Waiting time was around 20 minutes,, finally I get my plate. Service was prompt, but the orders for them were too many.One thing I dislike for Pepper Lunch was the smoky scent, very irritating. Paper surrounded reminded customer to be careful, the iron plate was sizzling hot. Have to stir it and mix it within a super fast period otherwise entire bottom would be burnt. we liked to dine in Pepper lunch where you can add honey brown sauce in as the foods being cooked in sizzling plates we ordered the chicken set meal at $12.90 whereby we top up $ 3 to get a whipped potato and a soft drink and pasta basil cream set meal at $15.50 to top up for salad and soft drinkThe chicken is very tender and absorb the honey brown sauce thus it was sweet . pepper lunch is one of my favorite restaurant to go to when i am feeling budget. I love the concept of 'cooking" the dish yourself using a hot plate. I have ordered BBQ chicken set during my last visit and i really like it! usually i will put honey brown sauce and cook it together with the meat and it just taste so good! the meat is very fresh, soft and tender. There's always something interesting about sizzling plates that attracts me, so I went to Pepper Lunch to have a simple lunch! I got the Teriyaki Chicken ($11.90) without the egg as I was sensitive to egg that week. It was really crowded here in this Ang Mo Kio branch outlet, b ut I suppose is the food that taste good which make their business so good. The restaurant was quite squeezy and uncomfortable. Service was alright but not really that super good. Bought their scallop rice at $12.90 which the scallops are fresh and quite chewy. The japanese rice is fragrant and not too soggy. My best friend dated me to AMK for a movie. And since we were there early to buy our tickets, we headed to pepper lunch for our lunch.I ordered the curry chicken rice set, since at that moment i feel a craving for curry. After trying so many places of pepper lunch, I feel that this place has one of the best services and it was big enough to house a number of patrons so the waiting time isn't that bad. I ordered the Curry Rice Wagyu ($12.90). I love adding the crazy amount of sauce to my dish and frying it around, hearing the sizzling sound as I cook! The curry was quite strong and eating it with rice is always the best. They yolk was raw but it got cooked really quickly and I couldn't savour the part where I can drench it all over my rice. This is my second time eating take away from Pepper Lunch. Usually i prefer to eat the sizzling hot meal at the restaurant itself I love the smell of the Pepper Lunch meals, always attracted me whenever I passed by the outlets. However I was home when mum brought back this from Ang Mo Kio on her errands there.Mum got me the salmon and chicken combination, she knows I liked this!
