Following the usual SwissBake outlets haunts around the island, I now conquer SwissBake at One Raffles. One of the reasons is that if you go during the earlier lunch hours (i.e. noon exactly), the place is still very empty, so we could choose the seats of choice, before the crowd gradually flows in.Today, I started with a Seafood Chowder. Today, I started with a Seafood Chowder. It came in a small portion, which relieved me, since I don't eat a lot for lunch. The soup had a good texture - not too thick, but creamy enough to flow nicely and retain a great flavour. The prawns and squids found within this small bowl of soup was considered rather generous, and freshly bouncy; the chunks of potatoes and carrots added a good balance to this diet.

For mains, I had a Smoked Chicken Salad, consisting of slices of chicken breast, Romaine lettuce, hard-boiled eggs, olives, croutons, tomatoes etc - what a treat! Note that I finished the entire salad without the dressing served on the side, and the salad still tasted delicious - all natural sweetness and crisps of greens. The smoked chicken breast was tender as well. I could eat this fresh and healthy meal everyday!

The host had catered refreshment from Swiss Bake. I love Swiss Bake pastries and sandwiches. I was even surprised to see wrap was also offered. The interesting part is the beverage box. Swiss bake use recycled bottle and there is a opening which can be screwed cap to flow the coffee and tea into the bottle.

When the host allowed the guest to open its refreshment, I could not resist to try the wrap first. I am afraid that the wrap was wet with the meat wrapped. However, it was not, it was rolled with ham and tomato. The wrap was too big for my mouth. I still enjoyed the wrap.

The next item which I tried was the egg and salad croissant sandwich. The egg was fresh and I could smell the fresh hard boiled smell. The ingredient used made it soft to eat with the crispy croissant. The next croissant which I took was the smoked chicken salad croissant. The meat was not salty. The croissant was still crispy and could hear the cracking fracking sound of the skin.

The mini Danish was good too. I tried the banana puff and enjoyed the soft banana filling. Though the banana filling was wet, it did not moist the Danish skin. The skin was still crispy.
The Swiss food is always fine and never disappoint diner.

Treated myself to some pastries from Swiss bake! I had a variety of mini pastries including a vanilla chocolate palmier which had vanilla pastry cream in it. The pastry when eaten warm is crisp on the outside with a buttery moist center filled with chocolate and smooth pastry cream. The combination really works well and the generous filling makes for a satisfying mouthful.

At Swissbake, you could get a wide variety of freshly baked buns, croissants or pastries. You could also choose from their breakfast menu and dine in with hot drinks. The breakfast menu is served till 11am daily, and when you order any breakfast meal , you get to have a hot drink at 50% discounted price. I had the Scrambled egg croissant ($3.90), the thick layer of scrambled egg is very satisfying, however, the croissant is slightly burnt, not too pleasant in taste. I had the Americano (original

I had the Americano (original price $4.20) at $2.10, and it's served with a small piece of cookies. The coffee tastes alright, though I wish it could be bigger cup.

This is the chocolate small pastry because it is smaller in size as compared to those normal kind. In this case, it has small bites and would not feel too full or too heaty after eating it. Because it is a great snack after meal to bite and to cheer up the day! (:It will be great and tasted fabulous when it is warm or heated up! And this is not expensive too, below $1! Yummy and would try others too!

Swiss Bake has probably the best commercial apple turnover in Singapore. Its recommended to best get it when it just comes out of the baker's oven! its incredibly good, nice flaky crisp buttery pastry combined with the sweet, tart taste of apple filling. its a really good balance, cos its not overly sweet or extremely oily(pastry). and I must say that its not available at every outlet everyday. like a 'now you see it now you dont', so grab it while you do! another classic exclusively from Swiss

another classic exclusively from Swiss Bake - their chocolate rolls (i believe its name is this..) they have it mini and regular sized. i cannot seem to describe it, but i am 95% sure you will eat it again once you've tried it.

pictures up the next time!

their rostiis, sandwiches and homemade quiches are good too. sandwiches exceptionally fresh, tasty and filling. very good for lunch. if you do get a seat, try their homemade quiche - usually with alot of spinach and cubes of ham. its served with a side salad (balsamic dressing) and little diced tomatoes with a bit of pesto (basil?).

i must say you can definitely get a relatively cheaper lunch if you choose to eat somewhere, but the quality at Swiss Bake has been consistent throughout the years, and IF you have to have a cafe/bakery lunch, there's no other place than Swiss Bake.
the cafe is indeed pretty small, but one could call it cosy. nicely tucked simple tables and chairs, they have seats for 1 or 2, and its nice they always have updated food magazines on their mag racks. ice-water is self serviced on the side station, very convenient.

simple, fuss-free, enjoyable lunch

Swiss Bake at OUB Centre is really crowded during lunch hours and we were lucky to find a seat without having to wait for too long. I ordered the sausage rosti which costs $8.50. It tasted really good and was sufficient to fill my stomach. There was a layer of cheese baked on top of the rosti, which enhances the flavor. The sausage was crunchy and well baked.
