Banana Prata ($4.50)

The prata was stuffed with slices of banana and condensed milk. Sweet and rich although I wished that the prata could be more crispy.

Do take note that some order could take quite a long while to come.

Have you ever wondered how the referees are always kayu? Could it be that they always eat at Jalan Kayu? Hmm you will never know... no one will actually know but anyhow... this was what we did one night after driving from Seletar dam....We ordered prata and for me well i settled for an ice milo dinosaur... king kong and godzilla were having coffee so they were not available so i guess we had to go to the prehistoric ages...I paid a total of $9 for 3 kosong and 1 egg shared between 2 people and 1

I paid a total of $9 for 3 kosong and 1 egg shared between 2 people and 1 ice milo dinosaur and 1 cup of teh.. Imagine all the people.... ok never mind but imagine everyone there around 11... Busy as hell...

The service pretty sub standard. No complaints for this..

Here is how we get to this place.. Not that easy to get there... you would have to take the TPE and take the exit that says Jaln Kayu i think exit 9, turn left and go to the roundabout and maintain a right... and then go straight past the traffic light NOT back to the expressway... go straight and continue to the Jalan Kayu Carpark...

I was wonder why there are also long queues outside this food stall, and finally decided to drop by here to check out their signature roti pratas. Bought the plain version and the egg version. Both are made only upon orders and it only took them less than ten minutes to serve it to our table. The pratas are quite fluffy and moist in texture. The outer layer was quite crispy and great to eat on its own or dip into their thick curry gravy.

The Banana Prata was underwhelming for the price paid, and for the hype this place has. The prata arrived lukewarm and it lacked a certain crisp expected of pratas.

As for the Iced Teh Tarik, there was too much ice in the drink and the entire drink ended up being incredibly bland. However, before the ice melted entirely, it should be noted that the taste of the teh tarik was really good - pity that the ice drowned out the flavours in the drink.

Generally, all the food from this coffeeshop is more expensive than those you can find elsewhere, probably due to that fact that it opens till late night and is relatively famous (i believe most people heard of the famous jalan kayu prata). However, the food is only of average taste. An example will be the tulang soup (mutton marrow soup) which i have ordered. Understand that one suppose to be able to suck the tulang using a straw if it is high grade tulang. However, I am not able to do that for

As for prata, it is also kinda dry and is obviously not freshly cooked.

In short, my impression of this place is it sells expensive food which is of not so good quality.

Plain roti prata: $1 each.

We just wanted a snack, so ordered plain roti prata and some mutton curry. The prata cost $1 each and were quite small so we needed 2 roti per person. The texture was perfect - crispy on the outside and soft and flaky inside. Yum! The curry sauce that came with it was average tasting, not too spicy. We also ordered a plate of mutton curry for $5 to eat with the prata. It was more flavorful and the meat was tender.

I definitely liked the roti, but don't think it's worth a special trip out to Jalan Kayu just to eat roti.

Tired of eating rice, noodles and fast foods so decided to head down to Jalan Kayu for prata for dinner. We ordered 1 mushroom prata, 3egg pratas, 1 onion and egg prata and a curry chicken. Only manage to take the pic of the egg pratas and the curry chicken as my boyf started eating before i took the pictures. The egg prata was good, the eggs were spread evenly and the prata is not hard so we can easily cut into smaller pieces. Curry chicken was very good not really have alot of curry powder,

Curry chicken was very good
not really have alot of curry powder, and the chicken is big enough to share among both of us
Total we spend around 20$ including the curry chicken and the drinks. Definately worth the price

The last time I went, I went with my colleagues. I ordered one plain prata and one one egg with onion prata. Both came fresh and hot. However I find the plain one tasted a bit plain. The egg with onion one slightly better. The egg and onion is well distributed within the prata itself. Then I also order a banana prata to taste. It is good. Thin and crispy crust with slices of banana on it. A bit on the sweet side though. It is open 24 hrs so it is also a good place to go and la kopi if got nothin

Plain Prata and Egg with Onion Prata - Egg with Onion Prata is very nice... the fragrance of onion is so rich upon you cutting through the prata. Plain Prata was good only, had something better somewhere before hahaha

Chicken Murtabak - totally worth to pay for it, the Chicken murtabak is so huge, as big as their roti john, murtabak is filled with full of shredded chicken meat. you can either eat with curry sauce or simple eat with their sweet chilli sauce (thumbs up, yums yums, a must try!)

Thosai - wanted to try the paper tissue prata but since we were there around 9ish, so end up there is no more paper tissue prata left, so we choose Thosai instead. Thosai cost less than $2 bucks, and it comes with three side sauces, don't really know what are they, but the lime green one is some yogurt sauce if i am not wrong, i do prefer the the two other flavour sauce.

Will be back again for their mee goreng and other stir-fried stuff.

Had cheese prate as well that costs $3, the cheese is well mixed with the prata. With Every bite I can taste the prata and the cheese. However, it is a little too salty.

The Chicken Brayani costs $7 which has a piece of chicken and an egg. It added a lot of spices and I could hardly taste the rice, however, the chicken is tender and nice.

To me Prata is either Egg or Plain. Didn't know there are so many variety/term until we ordered these:
Plaster + Telok + Kosong.
Plaster = Plain Prata with Sunny Side Up on it.
Telok = Egg Prata.
Kosong = Plain Prata.

Personally I don't find the prate here special...Not exactly crispy or fragrance. Doubt I will travel all the way here to have prata again.. =/
